'Normalized' liquor law likely to add to confusion when ordering cocktail

The final comment is dead-on: the perfect word to describe the private club system is just plain "rude."
Utah's strange liquor restrictions won't stop anyone who really wants a drink--people will find ways. All these convoluted laws really do is confuse visitors.
Come on, lawmakers--join the rest of the nation, already!
Quit hemming the people of Utah in with restrictions and trust them. Mormons who want to live the religion aren't going to drink alcohol anyway--and people who do drink won't turn into dangerous monsters if you make it a little easier to get what they're already trying to get anyway.
So I can order a margarita, and a shot of a different tequila, and pour the shot into my margarita and that's legal; but if the waiter pours that shot into my margarita, that's illegal? That's just silly.
Take a hint from Colorado. They make a clear distinction between bar and restaurant too, but it's pretty simple: restaurants have to get 25% of their revenue from food sales. If they don't, they can re-apply to get a bar license.
