I have many fond childhood memories of driving down to Spanish Fork on Saturdays to see the auction. I will miss it.

How sad. As somebody who grew up in the south end of the county I find it near impossible to imagine the livestock auction closing. I was stunned when I read the headline; there goes a way of life.

One of the first dates I took my wife on more than seven years ago when we were dating was to the livestock auction so that she could see what south Utah County was all about. We've been out of state for a few years and were looking forward to going back there on our next visit to Utah...

I hope that this will serve as a wake up call to many policy makers that we need to take seriously the plight of rural Utahns. Growth mania has got to end unless we want Utah farmers and ranchers on the endangered species list.
