Maybe it's different in your area, but my experience is that icees are "weaker" because of more air whipped in, while slurpees are stronger and "wetter". Which is why I like the slurpee better. YMMV. I agree with you that the Dr Pepper variety is the best, though!

Ha. I love this column. We all have guilty pleasures. I am a healthy person but love pita pockets (and the especially gross ones with pepperoni, etc.) even though I know they are artificial and unhealthy.

Your point about these tastes being connected with our past is a good one. In my case, I think I love pita pockets because I was a latch-key kid and always looked forward to a pocket when I got home from school.

Ha. Even though I am grown up, I always love popcicles in the summer. Hearing the icecream truck still makes me smile.
