When will FrontRunner start to run in Utah County where it is need also?

I rode FrontRunner yesterday, and it was fun, however, I have one criticism, I had to wait for two hours in line, and that was bad, so I suggest that the next time an event like this occurs, that persons with disabilities be allowed to board first, and not have to stand in line. I might suggest that another transportation take over FrontRunner, because UTA Staff don't know how to organize these events.

FrontRunner South should open in 2011. Of course right after I graduate from BYU.

The reason Utah County has to wait so long to get the FrontRunner service, which will eleviate congestion on 1-15, is because the people of Utah County lacked the foresight to vote for tax increase, so they could pay for this service, when it was first proposed.

Sometimes money has to be spent up front to save money in the long run.

I've heard dates ranging from 2011 to 2015 for the completion of FrontRunner South. UTA's official word though is to have the line operational by 2012-2013.
I wouldn't be surprised if the date gets pushed later though. We've been paying for our line in Weber and Davis since 2000 and we're just now getting it. If I remember right, Utah County only voted for a sales tax increase within the last year or two... add eight years or so and that's at least 2015.

So kudos to Davis & Weber leaders for their foresight. To our friends in Happy Valley--time to elect new officials.

I'm definitely a fan of the idea, but haven't we had bullet trains around for quite some time now? Why didn't they take advantage of the technology we've had for years? Thanks Frontrunner for only being 75 miles per hour instead of 300... welcome to Utah.

Because the train makes frequent stops and doesn't travel a great distance, the gains of a higher speed train are not as signifigant. It would be tough to justify the cost of such a high-speed train.
