Utah ranks lowest in drunken driving

Lies and statistics, etc., etc.

I still don't understand why Utah won't prosecute and seriously punish adults who knowingly give alcohol to minors who then may drive drunk and kill people but will agressively prosecute adults who give guns to minors. This has always baffled me.

This is another reason we should't lossen our alcohol laws.

To the editor: Please, I don't want to hear anything good about Utah. It might detract from my diatribes, insults, and finger-pointing at the things that aren't perfect here. Please take this article off and put up another one about high depression rates, or something like that. I feel so much better when I berate than when I congratulate, regardless of the topic. And the last thing we need is an excuse for the people of Utah to pat themselves on the back, deserved or not.

Why should we be patting ourselves on the back? What does it really mean to have the lowest incidence of drunk driving? It just means we have less of a problem - it doesn't mean we don't have one.

That's like one cancer patient congratulating himself because he has less cancer than the patient in the next room.

To Karl - 8:48 a.m. Yes, I know. Utah must always be looked at as this disgusting sewer of depression, poverty and hypocrisy. Far be it for anyone to something good about Utah.

I sometimes can't help but wonder if those who go on the Internet and continually bash Utah, Utah culture and anything LDS, aren't missing the big picture. Instead of going on-line and anonymously screaming at everyone, they should channel that anger into something positive.

We should all spend more time lifting other up, rather than tearing others down.

We're the butt of so many jokes about our liquor laws. Please loosen the laws so we can have just as many drunk drivers as everyone else. The pain of all those jokes is so much harder to tolerate than a few extra deaths, disabilities, and property damage caused by drunk drivers.
