All Houston is doing by whining about the officiating is taking their minds off the fact that they have to win 2 games in ESA, AND come home and win 2 more. Houston lost the game when TMAC threw up brick after brick in the fourth quarter.

The Jazz need to just come home and play their game and this series is over on Saturday. Once again, a team effort trumps individual effort - sorry T Mac, I guess you better get your summer vacation booked soon, you'll need it before May 1. Jazz in 4 (and yes I'll have my broom at Thursday's and Saturday's games).

Hey Lupe--
You have a short memory--we BEAT Houston last year with Yao. The other two guys are role players and have been schooled by the Jazz every night.

Does anyone but me wish that Boozer would act like a POWER forward? Do you think maybe he can take the 41 year old Mutombo off the dribble? Take the ball to the hole strong! He'll either get the basket or the foul. I really like Boozer, but I wish he was a little more aggressive.
Sokol | 11:17 a.m. April 22, 2008
As a life long Jazz fan, I think this team has more
backup help than Stockton and Malone had. I only
hope they do not discount the resiliency of the Rockets. My dream is for Sloan to throttle the 'Zen Master' and his over rated Lakers in 7 games, to me,
that would be my finals. I hope they take one game at a time. I am wish the team would activate Fesenko for one of these series. Ukrainians are hard workers.

Memo to Houston:

You had your full team last year and home court and the Jazz still won. This year you do not have your full team and the result will be the same. With or without your full team WE OWN YOU!
jazz fan 4 life | 11:23 a.m. April 22, 2008
You guys are right, the jazz played great in Houston and I am proud of them for not settling for a split down there but lets not get ahead of our selves, the Jazz still need to play with the same intensity at home and maintain the defense, they have played!! I hope we can sweep and I think we will IF we continue to play hard!! ESA is going to be rocking on thursday, I wish I could be there but I will watch it on tv and won't miss a minute!! By the way, what a bunch of cry babies down there in Houston, they leveled D-Will and no foul was called, you would never see Jerry Sloan or anyone else on the jazz complain like that and they surely would not make excuses of why they lost like that!! Go Jazz stay aggressive and get game 3!!!, your fans are behind you 110%
Nan | 11:30 a.m. April 22, 2008
Go Jazz your the best and this is your year to win.
BJ Jazzy Rasta | 11:51 a.m. April 22, 2008
Great Win!! Way to step up Memo, AK, and Ronnie Price! D-Will is a Superstar and keeps getting better! How nice to see Ronnie Price come in and get a steal, block, dunk, and two huge three pointers. He is becoming a big part of our current success and future! How refreshing to see tough defense played. If we play this way against Lakers, we will win in 7 games! As far as Houston is concerned, their will is broken. Break out the brooms and bring on Kobe! I never thought I'd say this, but go Nuggets, and go Phoenix!
Anonymous | 11:55 a.m. April 22, 2008
Where are those Houston fans saying that they were going to win in 6..maybe less?? Weird..
Matt | 12:25 p.m. April 22, 2008
Watching Deron Williams is amazing. He is such a great player. He seemingly gets better and better every time he plays. In turn, he has made his teammates better as he distributes the ball and at times carries the team. What a stud!!! I can't say enough how much Ronnie Price has helped this franchise. His emergence, Harpring's toughness, Millsap (well you know), Korver's play...this is the making of a very, very, very good team with the chance to do big things. Stay mentally tough and who knows how far this team can go? GO JAZZ!!
Should the NBA.. | 12:45 p.m. April 22, 2008
just call the series now? In the post game interview with TMac it seemed that he was already giving up. I cant really blame him either. He gave his all (well for 3 quarters at least) and still couldnt get pass the jazz. The NBA should just save some travel money and tell Houston to stay home or to book their travels a week earlier. Ha ha, just playing, but really the Rockets looked completely drained after that game.
Go Jazz! Make 2 more statement games to the rest of the country. "WE ARE HERE TO WIN IT ALL!!!"
rattler | 12:50 p.m. April 22, 2008
Someone just answer me this simple question. What exactly would be the benefit of the media, the TV analysts, or anyone else outside the NBA giving the Jazz respect? Holy cow I'm sick of hearing that whine. All that matters is the final score. Winning 4 games in each playoff series. When you win, nobody can say anything other than "you won" and that's all that counts. Give me a team that doesn't get respect but still wins over a team that gets all the respect but doesn't win any day.
Sheesh.
flopping | 12:50 p.m. April 22, 2008
sure AK "sold" the hit, but he still got pushed out of the way. ITs still not as bad as watching tmac or scola try to draw a foul then run down the floor with their arms up whining the whole way. and don't get me started on manu or oberto for SA, those two should be on film for every ref in the NBA to watch and learn what flopping is. Great sell AK, and awesom win for the Jazz.
Jazzman2201 | 12:53 p.m. April 22, 2008
The Jazz are playing great! Houston is complaining about one call that was right but effected the outcome. If the refs had called the half dozen other calls against Houston that they didn't it would have been irrelevant.

The refs do need to have some training and penalties for biased reffing but until then the home team seems to get the benefit which is apparent by the number of calls Houston got in the first two games, 50% more than the Jazz. So Houston needs to just buckle down and play ball as Utah did during all those questionable calls or no-calls.

The Jazz are a TEAM in the mold rarely seen in the NBA of me-stars. They play a large rotation and have bench players that can step right in and fill their role in the TEAM concept. The management and coaching staff have created an unstoppable TEAM when they play as one, and I hope to see them win it all this year. It is a thrill to see who will be the difference each night. It makes it extremely difficult for opposing teams to plan for them because of their depth and bench. GO JAZZ!!
mp | 1:03 p.m. April 22, 2008
Not to get ahead of myself, and I know it's not over...but I do think the Jazz are in good shape. Houston will be a tough team next year if they can stay healthy. Jazz fans would be complaining if a call like that wiped away a three as well.

And I agree that Jazz fans should chill out on the T-Mac vitriol. Save it for Kobe, who gets the call every time he misses, and if he doesn't is allowed to remind the refs that he's Kobe until they start calling it. Last seen, by the way, slamming the ball as exclamation point on the ESA floor.
Re: mp | 1:23 p.m. April 22, 2008
You dont think the jazz fans remember Kobe's last appearance here in UT? When that series comes its going to sound like an earthquake of boos and chants whenever he touches the ball.
Oh and it wasnt so much the slamming of the ball, but more so the four letter word that said to the entire arena (as well as every jazz fan at home since it was caught so perfectly)
Believe me, the jazz have a whole other level they will go to when the flakers come to town.
If the jazz get one win in LA, then that series could be over fast too.
The jazz just need to hope that Phoenix or the winner of NO/DA will knock out SA.
Brent (yes, that's my real name) | 1:29 p.m. April 22, 2008
To anyone who cares,
Let me preface this by stating that I'm as big a Jazz fan as many Jazz fans are. However, those saying that Houston is whining about the non-call on Kirilenko. Come on, if that was reversed with the non-call on McGrady or whomever, you may be whistling the same tune. A flop is a flop, whether it's your team or the other team. Likewise, a foul is a foul.

And I don't buy the it was a make-up call for when Deron was hammered to the floor logic either. The team that wants it more almost always win. A win shouldn't come down to a referee's "bad" call.

Sounds like McGrady, even though he is on the opposing team, handled it more maturely than many of the fans. He didn't blame anyone but himself. As for Adelman's "whining," I am of the opinion that he has the right as the coach to come to his players' defense to dispute the call just as Sloan would for his players. That's one of the many reasons why they're professionals in the NBA and you're fans.

Kapish? Comprende? Get it? I hope so.
dwill4evuh | 2:17 p.m. April 22, 2008
dear lupe: yes we could win without boozer.......but lucky us we dont have to! yao is not even good! if he was a foot shorter he wouldnt even be in the nba period!
Anonymous | 2:20 p.m. April 22, 2008
don't worry, the jazz will lose the next four to houston ... NOT ... haha, i bet i started getting you jazz fans all riled up ... hee hee ... GO JAZZ!!!
Re: re: mp | 3:23 p.m. April 22, 2008
That Laker win at ESA without Gasol or Bynum was actually really impressive--if enraging. The only thing in the NBA I feel equally strong about as my Jazz fandom is my hatred of the Lakers.

I thought the Celtic game in Salt Lake back in December was comparably impressive, and was really pleased with the way the Jazz responded in Boston. Hopefully they can surprise some people in L.A., too.
Moto X | 3:37 p.m. April 22, 2008
Very impressive win.

Stifling TEAM defense we played. Houston is the #2 defense in the league and who got stopped?

We are scoring less than our usual average but that is part of Sloan/D-Wills strategy--cut down the possessions. Houston beat teams all year long by shooting/making more 3's and cutting down the number of opponents possessions while they score 2's. Sloan and D-Will have foiled that idea.

We have such a huge advantage to be able to play both styles. What you definitely notice though is that Okur, Korver and others are not getting their rhythm 3's because in this style we are always walking the ball up the floor. They shoot better when we run. Next series will be different offensively for us.

With or without Rafer and Yao we own these boys. Hope we can close it out in Utah so we do not have to make another trip back there. D-Will needs the rest to get better. We will need it against the Flakers. Okur better get ready--he will have his work cut out for him defending Gasol.
adam d | 3:48 p.m. April 22, 2008
The Rockets can not complain about the officiating.

Houston lost the game from the free throw line, where they were given multiple opportunities from these same refs that "wronged them".

But dont blame it on your poor ft%, shift the blame to others. A true sign of a great team.

officiating | 3:55 p.m. April 22, 2008
Scola clearly pushed AK- yes he had to make it look worse than it was because we weren't getting any calls throughout the game. McGrady takes a shot from the top of the key, gets his feet tangled up and falls over afterward, and then they whistle Harpring for a foul.

I thought that it was very interesting that midway through the 3rd quarter the Rockets were whisled for a foul (on Battier I believe)- Boler said that that was the first foul on a Houston starter other than Scola for the game. 2 1/2 quarters of basketball with the physical play, and Scola was the only starter on the rockets who had fouled anyone up to that point- and yet the rockets whine about officiating- kind of ironic/ moronic.

The Jazz didn't play great but played well enough to win and took care of business.

And to Lupe- I know the rockets were better this year than last, and it's tough to have Yao out, but the Jazz are deeper and better this year as well. It'd be a more competitive series with him playing, but I don't believe that it would equate to Houston winning the series.
WJ | 4:39 p.m. April 22, 2008
Why do people talk about the officials as if they are on the opposing team? There will be bad calls. Your team will win some and lose some over the season. The players and fans can't do much about it.

I knew the Jazz were the better team, but I have been pleasantly surprised that they have won the first two games in Houston. Their defensive play is key in their road victories.

Go Jazz! Sweep the Rockets!
WJ | 5:48 p.m. April 22, 2008
Predictions:

It's probably safe to say the series is over already. If they get careless, the Jazz might lose one game at home, but to win the series, Houston would have to win twice in SLC. That's not going to happen.

Will the Jazz go all the way? Not likely. They will probably lose to the Lakers in the next round, unless the Nuggets win, like Golden State did over Dallas.
cris | 7:02 p.m. April 22, 2008
winning games 1 & 2 at Houston only shows that the Rockets need Yao Ming, now that games 3 & 4 will shift on Jazz home, it only tells me that the next two games should be a blow-out games in favor of Utah, for me that's the way it should happen, the Jazz must continue to pound the Rockets to show a message to everyone that the Jazz are serious and will be a tough contender in the playoffs, it will also give the Jazz a big momentum going into the next round.. Go Jazz!!!
hey | 7:32 p.m. April 22, 2008
fisher had to go to LA he had know choice
Go Jazz and Sparta!! | 7:46 p.m. April 22, 2008
i agree with lori B boozer needs to pu some points on the board or sloan could just put millsap in. Millsap will dominate!!!
Bigjazzfan | 8:41 p.m. April 22, 2008
Face it you all: Boozer is as boozer does.

What you see is what you get.

Boozer get you some points mostly bewcause the offense is designed to go t ohim and gets you some rebounds.

He will never be anything more.

Jazz are stupid to spend a lot money on him he not a tier one star as jazzsmack noted. Because if money is going to him it can't go for a tier one star.

And you certainly should NOT build your offense around him.

In any case jazz seem to be at there best when he is not the leading scorer, but rather more when he like the third option.

It's too bad the the jazz will eventually lose in the playoffs just like they have for the past 25 years.

But I guess that's what get when you base you team around players who are neither dominant or goto (although deron is getting there).
Boozer | 11:14 p.m. April 22, 2008
Everybody says the jazz are the epitomy of a "team" game, so why complain about Boozer being a team player. He won championships at Duke while playing 2nd fiddle to Reddick. Where's Reddick now. Watching the playoffs. When the game is called fair, Boozer does well. How many times did he go in for a dunk, get fouled and no call. How many times does he get offensive fouls called on him.
Do we want Boozer scoring 30 points a night and being on his way home, ie McGrady, vince carter, etc
No, Carlos plays in the system just fine!
asdf | 1:12 a.m. April 23, 2008
Trade Boozer for T-Mac and move AK to 4!

asdf | 1:12 a.m. April 23, 2008
What are you talking about? Duke 2001 had Boozer, Jason Williams, Shane Battier, and Mike Dunleavy.

Riddick didn't go to Duke until after Boozer left.
22-game win streak | 10:12 a.m. April 23, 2008
So, how is it that Houston wins 22 straight games, most or all of which without Yao, but somehow now that they're trailing the Jazz in a playoff series, they're a hopelessly depleted team?

Remember the '99 Knicks? They weren't supposed to do anything in the playoffs with Patrick Ewing out, but they somehow made it to the Finals as a #8 seed by playing team ball. That's what Houston did in the 22-game streak.

Teams shouldn't use injuries as an excuse. Period. This is basically the same Houston team with the 2nd largest win streak in NBA history earlier in the year.

And if losing Rafer Alston (and an AK flop) is all that stood in the way of the Rockets beating the Jazz, well, they're in luck.

Isn't Rafer supposed to play tonight?

So, we can expect Houston to pound us, RIGHT??????

Steve | 8:41 a.m. April 24, 2008
The Jazz haven't played Kobe in the Playoffs since they swept the Lakers in the 98 West Finals when he was just a kid.

I sincerely hope that the Jazz locker room is 100 times more focused than the discussion on here.
