TEJA | 1:25 a.m. April 22, 2008
I got to hand it to T-MAC, he did make a great effort tonight but once again we shut him down in the 4th quarter.

Very nice effort as a team. Different guys stepping up when the others are not playing well, love it. Deron Williams is the only player playing at a high CONSISTENT level at the moment.

Now in ESA, it will be a totally different story. Some of us is use to seeing them score over 100 points, that should happen. Don't forget, Houston DEF is one of the tops in NBA this year.

What a rivarly it will be in the next round JAZZ/LAKERS!

I'll be cheering for the JAZZ and Dad will be cheering for the L.A. FLAKERS... CAN'T WAIT
Anonymous | 4:42 a.m. April 22, 2008
T-MAC? No heart and no guts and once again, out in the first round. Predictable. Once the series is over, I'm sure that the classless McGrady will once again throw his teammates under the bus. Pathetic!
Gracefl | 6:14 a.m. April 22, 2008
McGrady played like a champion! The Jazz played like a winning team!

I don't understand why Adelman is unhappy, there was so much physical play that was not called last night that you can't call out one particular play and say it wasn't fair.
Jimmy's Sneakers | 6:26 a.m. April 22, 2008
Another great game for the Jazz. Jimmy would like to point out that the real difference between the 2 teams in both games so far has been the bench play, with the Jazz bench helping the Jazz pull away or sustain leads with their superior play.

Jimmy doesn't want to talk about the Lakers yet, this Jazz team still needs to prove they can close out in anything but do or die games.
Toader | 6:49 a.m. April 22, 2008
When did we ever hear Michael Jordan use the excuse of "I ran out of gas in the 4th quarter"?
John | 6:52 a.m. April 22, 2008
The blame needs to go on Rick Adelman. Adelman gambled and didn't give T-Mac the rest he needed to step it up in the fourth. T-Mac said he was tired and he had a fresh Kirilenko on him in the 4th. The reason AK is fresh is that Sloan gives him a breather a few times a game. So to me Adelman is to blame.
Ricardo from Brazil | 7:30 a.m. April 22, 2008
Im glad the Jazz could make twice in a row. Now that were back at Salt Lake I suppose the players will try to do their best in order to secure another back-to-back wins in front of thousands of the league loudest arena!
One thing that Im happy with is the play of Okur agiants the Rockets. If during the game 1 he managed only a couple of buckets he still cleared the glass and produced some effective deffense. In game 2 he did the same by grabbing 16 rebounds and helpd Williams and Boozer on the offensive end.
KUDOS TO OKUR!
DH | 7:38 a.m. April 22, 2008
To talk of the Lakers is very premature. Let's focus on the Rockets. The Jazz need to come back to Salt Lake and make sure they don't get over confident. They have won the two games but they have not looked overly impressive doing so.

Good game by McGrady but it takes more than one player to win a game. The press and some of the fans like to focus on just one guy but one guy is not enough.
No respect | 7:45 a.m. April 22, 2008
It kills me that all the talk has been TMac not having gas left in the tank or the questionable foul at the end. When are people, besides Charles Barkley, going to give the Jazz credit? The Jazz are superior and it needs to be said more. Please!
ca | 7:53 a.m. April 22, 2008
who cares that houston is without yao and alston? they wouldn't beat the jazz in this series if they were playing. the jazz are on a roll right now and are hitting the big shots when they need to. i think if the jazz close out this series, they should activate Fezz and put Hart inactive. that gives them 6 more fouls to hack away at pau and the rest of the lakers. i hope dwill schools that low life fisher
Whiners | 8:02 a.m. April 22, 2008
I love how the Rockets are whining about a "questionable" call at the end. What about the play where Deron Williams got layed out right in front of the ref, and there was no call? What about all those drives in the lane by the Jazz and nary a foul call? Stop your whining, rockets....you got your home court advantage....Now its our turn
Anonymous | 8:03 a.m. April 22, 2008
I don't know how Adelman can complain, since their guy clotheslined Deron earlier in the game and no foul was called.
WickedJazzFan! | 8:17 a.m. April 22, 2008
I agree with No Respect. This Jazz team is awesome. We have the strongest bench out there. So many teams depend on the one "all-star" to pull them through but the Jazz have so many great players on the bench that we have the ability to put them on the floor, give our starters the rest and still pull through.
Loved Sloans comments about Williams last night. Kudos for giving him the respect he deserves. Williams is an extremely smart player and like Sloan said, (and I'm paraphrasing so please don't ditch on me) but he does play more like a veteran. He's tough and reliable! AK and Memo have really stepped it up. Price, Brewer, Millsap. It is great! I think this is one of the first years we have really been able to say it is a true team effort. They play great together!
Our team is incredible and I thank all of them for the terrific season they have given us! Looking forward to the rest of it. Go Jazz!! You ROCK!!!
Because | 8:11 a.m. April 22, 2008
Barkley is not one who gets whitewashed into loving and believing in what is popular. He needs to teach seminars to all of ESPN and all networks about how to look at team without any goggles on.

It's not premature to talk about the Lakers as fans. We aren't the players who need to focus, and it's clearly over, everyone knows it. Sit back and relax and hope that Denver can wear them out while the Jazz can rest.
AggieMom | 8:12 a.m. April 22, 2008
I am proud of the Jazz for not settling for a split. I think they look really focused to finish out the series in four games.

One thing that's bugging me is how the announcers and even Rick Adelman seem to be making excuses for Houston, that they're depleted and Utah is too physical (or too flopping). Well, this "depleted" Houston team somehow won 22 straight games during the season without Yao, and we can't honestly believe that injury to Rafer Alston is only reason they're not beating the Jazz in this series. I think they had Rafer Alston in the two losses to the Jazz during the regular season. So what was the excuse then?

Oh, and they had Yao last year in the playoffs, and somehow the Jazz won. What was the excuse last year?

Oh well ... Finish 'em out, and bring on the Lakers!
I can never imagine Jerry Sloan using injury to a starter as an excuse. We've won games without Boozer, AK and Kirilenko. It's the mark of a tough team to compete regardless of the circumstances.
Ben Dover | 8:13 a.m. April 22, 2008
T-Mac did all he could...it`s almost 1 against 5,the rest of the Rocket`s are not even starters on most good teams...Go Jazz

I am so sick of T-MAC! The Jazz are good, and I am so sick of how the media gives them no credit. The stories are always about how T-MAC has never been past the first round yada yada yada! The Jazz are going to surprise some people, I guess it shows how fast people forget last years run by the jazz.
JJ | 8:27 a.m. April 22, 2008
To DH:

If the Jazz had played the last half of the fourth quarter in game 1 as they had played the rest of the game, that would have been a 20 point win. They completely dominated all but about 6 minutes of that game. So in game 1, they actually just dominated.

In game two, they played about as badly as they could play, and Houston as presently constituted played about as well as they could play, and the Jazz still won. Taking the other teams best shot, not playing your best and winning is the mark of great teams.
AK flopping? | 8:22 a.m. April 22, 2008
It's funny to hear T-Mac and the rockets complain about AK flopping. T-Mac is one of the bigget floppers in the world. He gets every homer call. It's not quite as bad as Kobe, but they're both on the all-NBA first team in flopping. The clear out was similar to when D-Will got leveled (where there was no call). When someone is setting up to shoot, you can't "push" the defense out of the way so the shooter can get the shot off. Good call, good game, and good riddens to T-Mac and the Houston floppers.
Hugh G. Hater | 8:30 a.m. April 22, 2008
Tmac whining about AK flopping?

What about Dwill getting knocked to the floor in front of an official? Scola stiff arming Memo all game?

Gimme a break.

Boo Freaking Hoo | 8:31 a.m. April 22, 2008
I am sick of Houston complaining about the Scola foul on Kirilenko. They were forced to call it after blowing Brooks' nasty hockey check on Deron. Not to mention the traveling call on Deron and giving the ball to Houston after Jackson clearly deflected Deron's pass out of bounds. Bottom line. Don't miss 10 free throws and complain about 1 call, that was a foul by the way.
believer | 8:32 a.m. April 22, 2008
re: anonymous. I concur. Read the Houston papers/bloggers and it's all about the Kirilenko/Scoula foul. But hello people, how many ticky tack fouls were called on the Jazz? Breathe on T-Mac, it's a foul. The Jazz didn't complain, they just delivered the payload. And now we get the opp for a series win in ESA-SLC. Awesome. Life is good.
TJ | 8:32 a.m. April 22, 2008
No respect.
I agree with what you said and it is true that TMac had nothing left at the end but you want to know why? He played a lot of minutes but he was always being played by a fresh defender. The Jazz rotated 4 guys on him and it wore him down. The reason he is tired was because the Jazz wore him out. Give their defense all the credit cause they deserve it. The Jazz are superior and now just need to get the sweep.

To John | 6:52 a.m

I think TMac needs to be rested more too but who is going to replace him? The Rockets are short manned and so some of their key bench guys are starting. Who is Adelman going to put in to rest TMac? He doesn't have anyone.

But let's just put it this way...The Rockets were out played and out coached. The Jazz are a much better team than the Rockets and chances of advancing are getting slimmer.
Honest Evaluation | 8:34 a.m. April 22, 2008
TMac is an allstar in the NBA. He's a very good player and at times a very dangerous player. He's not an MVP caliber player, and he's not a superstar. He can't carry a team by himself like Lebron James. He's not mentally tough in clutch situations like other superstars are. He is what he is, and not more, I think people are expecting him to be another Kobe or Lebron, but he's not as good as those guys.
The Rockets without Yao? | 8:34 a.m. April 22, 2008
Okay, as far as the Jazz playing against a team without Yao... If the playoffs had started while Yao was playing, they would have been lucky to make the playoffs. They made their 22 game run and that put them into the playoffs, WITHOUT YAO. This is the team that made the playoffs, and has the best record in the NBA since January. This is the team that was beating everybody relentlessly. Give them their credit, but don't use it as an excuse for why they are losing in the playoffs. Thank you for reading this.
magnus | 8:41 a.m. April 22, 2008
T-Mac played a great game, it is clear that he is all about the team game now and I like that, but he passed on some opportunities he should have taken to shoot the ball in the fourth quarter.

@ John

So what would you do in Adelmans situation? Rest T-mac more and let the Jazz run up a 10-15 point lead? The Rockets simply do not have the depth right now to let their starters sit. If Tracy cannot suck it up and play 100% for 45 minutes then the Rockets have basically ZERO chance of winning a single game in this series because other than him the Jazz are better at every position than the Rockets and in most cases the Jazz backups are as good at every position as the Rockets starters.

I have noticed that when the Jazz pound the ball inside or to the high post their offense is nearly unstoppable, and if they turn into a dribbling and jump shooting team they are not very good. No wonder Sloan gets so mad at them when they don't get it inside.

wallofvoodoo | 8:48 a.m. April 22, 2008
MJ had Rodman and Pippen to help. T-Mac doesn't really have anyone helping him out right now. The reason the Jazz won was awesome D on T-Mac and good execution in the 4th quarter. Houston has no leg to stand on for complaining about physical play. They got away with plenty of hard fouls. They need to quit whinning and step up the play.
T-Mac | 8:43 a.m. April 22, 2008
No heart no guts? The guy nearly had a triple double. He played with a lot of heart last night. The Jazz are just the better team. The Jazz will sail to the next round but it isn't going to get any easier.
Rockets are getting swept | 8:45 a.m. April 22, 2008
Some of you don't want to talk about the Lakers huh? Well why not cause there is no way the Rockets are going to win in our house. Its over. I completely agree with no respect. If it weren't for Charles Barkley I'd think Jazz fans are the only ones who think the Jazz have a chance. Go Jazz and lets hope the refs call it more fair in Utah. How can the Rockets complain when they shot way more free throws in both of the first two games and miss so many of them!
Former Sloan Whiner Says... | 8:53 a.m. April 22, 2008
I've been watching the Jazz for 22 years and finally, FINALLY, they are really playing as a team. Different players take the spotlight depending on who gets the least pressure. Last night, Houston was trying to shut down Booz so Deron finds someone else to dish to. AK really made TM look bad in the 4th. Everyone is stepping up where the defense is weak. Outstanding! Sloan is a genius!
Dapper2k | 8:59 a.m. April 22, 2008
Great win even when the NBA wanted to extend the series.

It's nice to see the Jazz can win five on eight, the Rox have no place to complaign about the refs in this game. I've said it before and I'll say it again the worst part about the NBA is the officiating.

Sweep it an bring on the lakers. The only thing better than beating the lakers is winning it all I'm glad the Jazz will be playing them in the next round...If they make it that far.

GO Jazz!
basketball 101 | 9:02 a.m. April 22, 2008
scoreboard! I love to hear the rockets complain about the kirilenko call. There were several calls the refs missed in the first 3 and a half quarters...lets face it, the jazz are just a better team.
Rockets can't complain... | 8:57 a.m. April 22, 2008
The Rockets can't complain, in each of the first two games they shot way more free throws than we did, and we were "being agressive, going to the rim". Actually, as I watched the game I saw D-Will get hammered on a shot he made...no foul called. If we only look at the calls in the last minute of a close game and try to ascribe the outcome to a bad call, we would not be fair...the rest of the game should be analyzed and the good/bad calls tallied and it may not turn out like the ones whining ones think.
Red A | 9:05 a.m. April 22, 2008
When Houston tries to get physical Sloan just puts Harpring and Milsap in there and they soften em up a little. I hope Sloan has this Fess fellar ready for action for the next series. Were going to need him and his 6 fouls on Pau.
Anonymous | 9:17 a.m. April 22, 2008
I'M A JAZZ FAN IT WAS A GOOD WIN FOR US. BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAY MCGRADY HAS NOTHING TO FEEL BAD ABOUT HE GAVE IT HIS ALL ALL AND HE DID HIS BEST THEY ALL YOU CAN ASK FOR PLAYER. BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY THE JAZZ PREVAILED ENJOY THE MOMENT BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE US GOING ANY FURTHER IN THE PLAYOFF WITH US PLAYING AGAINST LAKERS BUT WE HAVE ENJOYED WATCHING THE JAZZ PLAY I HOPE WHEN THE LAKER COME TO THE ENERGY SOLUTION WE WILL HAVE A LITTLE CLASS AND SHOW FISHER A LITTLE RESPECT AND NOT BOO HIM FOR THAT WILL GIVE KOBY ENOUGH MOTIVATION TO GO OFF ON US AND SHOOT 20 POINTS AGAINST US.
To No Respect | 9:21 a.m. April 22, 2008

When in Rome | 9:39 a.m. April 22, 2008
Interesting that when there is a questionable call against Houston its ok to print in every newspaper and blog site there is, but when it happens to Utah, we are called whiners and told to get over it. It's not too much fun, is it Houston? Utah is the complete package, which means a far more superior team than Houston. You can't win a seven game series from from a few missed calls. NIce try.
Memo would of had a hay day with Yao anyways.
We will see you in Utah. Keep your shorts on.
TMac=Gutless? | 9:43 a.m. April 22, 2008
Can you imagine how good Tracy McGrady would be with his skill-length-athletisism and Deron Williams heart and mental toughness? Dude would be one of the top five players of all time, with multiple championships.

Deron Williams is BY FAR the best player on the court this series!

While Houston fans complain about the "Kirilenko Flop", they ignore the awful no calls including Kirilenko having his head taken off on the previous play, the Dwil travel--by the way, is it just me or does Scola travel close to every time he touches the ball, and there's never a call?--and many other calls that went Houstons way.

The great thing is that the Jazz haven't even been playing well these first two games, and they are still beating one of the best teams in the league. If they can take the same confidence they've had in these first two games into the rest of the playoffs No one will beat them. Not Kobe, Duncan, or the C's. Nobody.

Keep the confidence!!!!
Give AK props | 9:53 a.m. April 22, 2008
For some unknown reason AK doesn't get any love. It would have been a different game without him yesterday. I hope we can resign him. I know we need D-Will and Booz, Okur, etc... AK is a very important part of this team. Go Jazz (and Cougs).
Jazz Fan thru and thru | 9:50 a.m. April 22, 2008
I'd just like to know where all the boisterous commenters are that kept saying how the Jazz were going to blow it and be taken down first round of the playoffs. Funny how those of us that are hard core Jazz fans through and through can comment positively no matter what the outcome of the game but you are all pretty quick to shut-up when we rock the Toyota Center. What Foot stuck in your mouth??

GO JAZZ GOTTA LOVE IT BABY!!!
Give D. Fish a break!! | 9:52 a.m. April 22, 2008
Man I'm gonna have to really restrain myself if I hear anybody else badmouth D. Fisher!! That guy did so much for our team last year!! and now we want him to get hit by a bus or something!! That's messed up. I have the upmost respect for the man; we need to cheer for him, he's a classy player, and a family man, and we're lucky we had him, end of story!
Hugh G. Hater | 10:02 a.m. April 22, 2008
I have lost all respect for TMac.

A real allstar wouldn't whine about playing 43 minutes, a lack of help from other teammates or questionable calls.
As much as I hate AI, he never does that and he plays tons of minutes.

Somebody give the baby his bottle, maybe then he will shut up.

I'm going to Home Depot to buy my broom.
Lupe | 10:06 a.m. April 22, 2008
The real issue is Yao Ming isn't playing to even out the size advantage Utah has. I have a hard time believing that Utah would have won either game in Houston if Yao were playing. The Rockets are much better than a year ago with the addition of Carl Landry and Scola, however, without Yao, they have no chance. Let's even things up and have you guys play the next 2 games without Boozer. What do you think?
Ute & Jazz Fan | 10:18 a.m. April 22, 2008
Let hope the visiting locker room here in SLC has stocked Scola's locker with some shampoo and perhaps some gift certificates for a haircut at a local salon.
I love watching these games they are such great fun. We need to focus on the game at hand, but believe in your future as champs. Good luck guys.
JazzFan4ever | 10:25 a.m. April 22, 2008
If I was Sloan I would fine any Jazz player 100,000 if the word Lakers was said.Too bad we can't do that with some fans that are getting ahead of themselves. The Jazz still have to play and play hard NO team in the NBA is just going to give a game to you. I see the Jazz playing strong defence at home and stealing more than just home court.Brewer and Andrei and the rest of the Jazz need to steal and disrupt and play the D.
Brettski | 10:26 a.m. April 22, 2008
Good to see the Jazz not settle for 1 and 1 in houston. I was in class during most of the game, but from what I did get to see, the Rockets can't complain about officiating. The play where I believe it was Okur drilled Scoliosis or whatever his name is and Houston wanted a flagrant was no flagrant. On the other end of the floor AK was knocked pretty good and had the rebound taken away from him. It cuts both ways. I'm just glad the Jazz could pull it out on the road. Very impressive considering NBA officiating is super bias towards the home team. Or Kobe Bryant.
TucsonUte | 10:35 a.m. April 22, 2008
You can tell the Rockets are on their last legs when they start blaming the refs. There were several questionable calls against the Jazz earlier in the game that Jerry and crew could've been complaining about but didn't. Houston needs to stop crying and start playing--if they don't what to be swept.

Attn: Lupe You play the game with who you got. Would've, could've, should've might make you feel better about your team but they are in a 2 game hole and playing in SLC the next two games. BTW, Yao is overated.
I agree | 10:51 a.m. April 22, 2008
I agree with "Give AK props". We need AK for many reasons. Whoever wrote that is really smart and insightful. I'll bet he is good looking, kind, brave, cheerful, reverent, thrifty, etc...
anon to anonymous | 10:52 a.m. April 22, 2008
TMac's main supporting cast is injured. TMac alone cannot carry Houston to a win against a deep Jazz team.

Lighten up on TMac, anonymous. He is an OK guy. I much prefer his character over Kobe Bryant's lack thereof. KB will give you plenty of haughty taunts to rant about if the Jazz move on.

Save your acerbic annotations for the arrogance ace.
