Buttars excluded at some talks

In so many ways I appreciate Buttars voting record though candidly, it is time to move on.

We are often told that essentially good voting records are not replaceable. Over the years I have watched as real knuckleheads that have voted pretty well by traditional Republican standards demand re-election. And their supporters really fight for it. And once they get replaced we end up with similar voting records minus the baggage.

Buttars' voting record will be missed though I wish him the best in his 'retirement.' His Black Baby thing was the end for me.

Buttars has left so many needy people out of his arrogant legislative votes, he is just getting a very small taste of what it is to be left on the outside.

Mr. Buttars has become the issue, every time something is discussed that he has a hand in. It is too distracting, and will prevent needed legislation from advancing. Most importantly, the Republican Party sees him for the embarassment that he is, and the GOP's reluctance to be associated with him further handicaps him.

Buttars is good on the issues, although admittedly not a slick talking speaker like so many politicians are.

Residents sure don't need a school district employee in there. The greedy education establishment already has far too much influence with the Legislature. They are also too closely linked (via the UEA) with the ultra-left policies of the national teachers unions.

Darby may be a good second choice if Buttars cannot win in the convention.

Buttars said it was tacky to not invite him to some of the delegate meetings. Well, I have news for you Mr. Buttars, it is tacky to make comments like yours while doing the people's business.

To John: Although you are against ultra-left wing policies, how about ultra-right wing policies instigated by the greedy Eagle Forum? If the UEA has had such control of the legislature, why is it that the overall percentage of the state budget that has been going towards education has been shrinking? People like you won't be happy until only the privileged will get to send their kids to the schools of their choice.

It would be a great message if Buttars won. It would the prove to the socialists that they can't boot conservatives out of office at their whim by simply taking their comments completely out of context.

If only there were actually Socialists in Utah. That'd be nice.

If I was in Buttars district....I'd vote for him!!! He should run on the "Black Baby" platform!!! We need more Buttars in the world to just tell it like it is and not be afraid of the outcome.

Oh, there are socialists to be sure. First, many varied definitions of socialism. We often think of Marx and his mantra about controling the engines of commerce. The modifications around the globe are pretty wide and run into excessive regulation and freebies. Essentially Marie Antoinette's 'let them eat cake.'

In fact, just listen to the Presidential debates and count the freebies. "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need."

Re: �Tumbleweed� and �this is ugly�: Well said. People who disagree with Buttars� conservative views are deliberately twisting the intent of his innocent-but-poorly-worded comment, in a convenient attempt to get rid of a good legislator. Buttars has served well, and should stay in the Senate.

Buttars is an embarrassment to the people he claims to represent. Those of you who said his voting record matches your desires, I challenge you to name 10 good votes. I say ten because even the worst record (IMO) of my so-called representative managed to vote twice on something I agreed with.

Actually, come to think of it, Buttars is an embarrassment to the state. Get rid of him district 10!

I think the term "construed" rather than "misconstrued" should have been used in the article. To say that fellow legislators told him his remarks could be misconstrued is not a true representation of what happened.

Since when is voting against same gender proposals in our schools a "stumble?" I suppose that's Bob Bernick's view.

Mr. Bernick, school is not the place for kids to be focusing on sex, sex education, sexuality, sexual orientation, sex lifestyles, or any other kind of sex.

Haven't we sexualized our culture enough and seen how it has destroyed families?

I appreciate the dedication Senator Buttars has given to defending the traditional family. If he does not return, which of the current sitting elected officials is willing to take his place on these tough issues? Will any of his opponents do it?

Why should Buttars feel bad that he has been excluded from some GOP meet the delegates meetings. After all he has made it his mission to exclude people who don't agree with him. He's not going to take though and I've noticed neither are the groups he has tried to exclude. Maybe he'll gain some empathy for them. I hope he gains it though after he's ousted from the legislature.

Funny he mentions it a little tacky that he hasn't been invited to the "meet the candidate" nights. At last count, he hasn't invited any of his challengers to any of his word-spin delegate dinner meetings. That would be great if he would. I'd love to see Armstrong or Darby bring up Buttars' votes in 2003 that brought on the school district split. Any delegate that allows their vote to be bought with a dinner from Buttars - well - I guess he really does represent you!

That letter alone that Buttars wrote to Judge Pullman is reason enough to never vote for this guy. Who wants lawmakers who think they own judges? I cannot believe anyone would ever vote for this guy.

Delegates should fear Sen. Buttars. If you let him attend your meetings you will have to listen to him. When you talk to him you will find that he is a very different person then the press and NAACP have painted him. This will be too much for you to handle. Do not get to know him! If you do you might even feel compeled to vote for him.
