And our legislators are saying they aren't being bought? How naive do they think the citizens are? This list only shows the revealed donation they get, what about the under the table gifts to their private campaign funds and hidden accounts? If lobbyists didn't think these gifts didn't make a differecne do you think they would still give them away? Utah may have a lot of sheep living in the state that still trust their bishop in the legislation, but business and religion has two faces. On Sunday the flock is told to trust their government and on Monday they are slaughtered and fed to the wolves. The two faces of the church leaders running the government and the church in Utah has been very effective in controlling the flock. We commoners can't compete with lobbyist in the gifts and money it takes to buy our elected representatives so laws are necessary. But why should our legislators cut off the hands of those putting money in their pockets? Why should legislators give up business and financial security from lobbyists? Legislators write and control the laws for self preservation, it's a diservice to the voters and citizens of Utah.

Is Bramble a) a crook, b) a fool, or c) both?

This legislature has no desire to close any and all loopholes in the reporting requirements under the current law. $50 will still buy some pretty good meals at local restaurants. I implore all of us to vote OUT the current legislative leadership and begin to take back the idea that "we the people" are in charge.

Should be zero | 8:51 a.m. April 19, 2008
I won't be happy unless the number is "zero" dollars per legislator.

If Bramble claims his contacts with lobbyists are for legislative education purposes, I wonder what issues he was studying at Jazz games, $100 steak dinners and in a villa in Italy he stayed at with two lobbyists. I'm voting for anyone but Bramble, even if it's a conservative Democrat.

I thought Utah was praised for being the most efficent state in management...these guys get a kings ransom and let in people with secret agendas whereas the voters have to foot the bill! Don't put up with this dishonesty!

Does is surprise anyone that Sen. Bramble is top on the list of takers? Anyone?

If you ask him, it's because he is the best legislator! Anyone believe that? Anyone?

We deserve whatever we get if we re elect this greedy, lying, controlling fool. Buttars doesn't even hold a candle to the corrupt and deceptive Mr. Bramble!

Ethics and morals would be nice | 7:14 p.m. April 19, 2008
For what reason do the legislators get ANYTHING from lobbyists? OK, a cheap pen or two like I can pick up at my credit union, but anything else? They do not need those gifts to do their job properly; in fact, those gifts may well impede their doing so.

But I don't guess there's anything that can be done about it as the legislature keeps resisting any kind of reform, and we keep electing them back into their jobs anyway.

For the love of our democratic republic, can the voters of Utah County please get rid of Bramble? He is everything wrong about people who get into public service for selfish reasons.`What an embarrassment. Anybody wanna build a float for the Utah GOP?

I love the closet liberal newspaper reporters and commentors who claim that Bramble should be ashamed of dealing with lobbyists. Bramble is a strong and true conservative, that is why you socialists are angry about his behavior. He doesn't care what you think! You are the same people who will vote for that clown Obama but claim to be Republicans.

Love of money is evil. The current party of legislative power loves money. Therefore ...

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that after the Atlanta trip, Bramble stayed there for his wedding. Why isn't some crack reporter looking into if he planned this trip after the wedding was set and if the meeting could have been done over the phone. It seems like he was just trying to get lobbyists to subsidize the costs of his son's wedding by paying for his airfare and hotel. Look into this Deseret News!

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
