Great game | 1:58 a.m. April 13, 2008
Could have even been worse for DC. Morales cracked one off the post. Duechars had a few chances he should have finished. Great defending and finishing. Now go do it on the road!

Great game RSL!

The only thing better then that win is the joy and happyness on Rimando and Beckerman on this picture. You can tell they are loving it. i hope we get to see more of that. Go Real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
virginiafan | 6:39 a.m. April 13, 2008
Win or lose this years team is exciting... With this kind of passion on the field there should be at least 20,000 fans in the stadium or Salt Lake dosen't deserve a team.
Well Done | 8:18 a.m. April 13, 2008
That was a lot of fun. Thanks RSL for the good play and hard work. I hope the fans stay as passionate as they were last night. Keep it up on the road!
Re:Virginiafan | 8:19 a.m. April 13, 2008
Newsflash!! Most people in Salt Lake don't want a team. Most people in Salt Lake dont' care about the team. Most people in Salt Lake want Real to go away.
Anonymous | 8:21 a.m. April 13, 2008
Wow. I think this is the latest in the season RSL has ever had a non-losing record.

way to go!
Andrew | 9:41 a.m. April 13, 2008
I'm not sure what Virginiafan is saying. RSL will be in the Top 3 in attendance this year. They get more attendance than any Blaze or Bees game. Get your facts straight.

Congratulations, RSL. We, Texas fans continue to follow your deserved ascent. Time will come when RSL will be recognized as one of the top soccer clubs in the great USA,

To Virginiafan: if you don't care about your team, please stick to your sport of choice. Otherwise jealousy, envy and bad karma will eat up your health.

To all the Utahans brothers: We'll see you when the new stadium opens. 7 Texans will spend some good money in your beautiful state.

See you...

Well done boys, well done.
???? | 1:56 p.m. April 13, 2008
How do you know what most Utahn's want?? Have you personally interviewed every single person who lives in the state on the subject because everyone I know wants ReAL to stay in Utah. I guess your talking about the 13000 fans that signed that lame referendum that went no where. I might be mistaken but I'm pretty sure there are more than 13000 people that live in the state of Utah...
soccer | 1:59 p.m. April 13, 2008
Who says there is no scoring in soccer? All four goals were masterpieces. Note to Kreis: If you want to fill the stadium, KEEP WINNING.
Craig | 3:53 p.m. April 13, 2008
Although the referendum on the public funding of the Sandy soccer stadium failed, polls taken last spring clearly indicated that a majority of Utahns, especially those living in SLC were opposed to the funding bill passed by the Utah legislature. I agree that opposition to the public funding does not necessarily mean that people want to see the soccer team go somewhere else. If I had a chance to sign the petition calling for a referendum I would have done it. I have no problem with soccer per se, but I do not believe it is a proper use of tax revenues to subsidize a professional sports team. Go watch soccer if you want but please don't force me or anyone else help pay for your ticket. Call that lame if you like--I call it honest and fair.
Steve | 4:39 p.m. April 13, 2008
Craig, I assume that you don't attend any sporting events or cultural events in town. They are all pretty much subsidized to some degree.
Re: Craig | 5:41 p.m. April 13, 2008
Go live in Evanston or Albequerque if you don't want any tax subsidized pro sports teams. Although they both still have tax subsidized entertainment, so I guess you better just crawl under a rock somewhere and curl up in the fetal position. If you're a sports fan in Utah, trying to hold RSL as a villain for using TOURISM taxes you are a hypocrite. There are no sports teams in Utah from Jr. High up to the Pro's that aren't spotless.

Go Real Go Jazz! I'm not a Blaze fan, but I ain't no one-trick pony either. I'm fine if there are sports around that I don't enjoy like arena football
Dear Craig | 6:27 p.m. April 13, 2008
Oh really, your personally paying for my tickets? well then can I have my money back for the season tickets I have purchased the last three years because I don't know where my money went then...? Its the same argument over and over again and its getting old.
First off if you didn't sign the referendum that is your problem because the guy set up stations all over Salt Lake City and went door to door, so you had some kind of opportunity.
Second the money isn't coming out of your pocket or any other tax payers pocket, it was money that already existed that was collected from Utah tourists. All the legislation did was extend that tax and said that X amount could be used towards building a parking lot and infrastructure (which was going to be done regardless) by the stadium. Other than that the stadium is privately financed.
Lastly the Dan Jones polls don't prove anything. Because if they were that accurate the referendum would have passed and that beautiful stadium wouldn't be under construction in Sandy.

RSL are incredibly fun to watch this year.

Great work Kreis.

I love how deep our team is.

I love how organized and poised our team is this season.

If they keep playing like this I can take a loss here and there, but these wins feel oh so good.

RSL 'til I die.
RSL Fan | 7:40 p.m. April 13, 2008
Yawn to Virginia and Craig. How much longer are we going to have to listen to you people complain about the stadium? I am sure Dan Jones' polls only called 78 yr old housewife's who answer the phone because they are bored and do not reflect the attitudes of people in SLC or the rest of Utah. The Jazz, Bees, and Grizzlies all got subsidies for their stadiums and comparatively were more expensive than what RSL was asking. The city of Toronto paid 100 million for their stadium (out of taxpayers pockets). I think we should all be thanking Dave Checketts for getting us a team in 2005 over cities like Seattle, Portland, Philly and St Louis. Also SLC is contributing less than what other MLS cities will have to for a stadium. Besides the only thing that separates SLC from Boise is the fact that we now have 2 professional sport teams. So lets drop the argument about the stadium it is here to stay.
Good Deal | 8:11 p.m. April 13, 2008
In all reality Salt Lake County got a steal for only having to pay 35 million for the infrastructure (which by the way they own!) I live near DC and the district just spent several HUNDRED million on a Baseball stadium that's average attendance is barely above what RSL or DC United get to their soccer games. Every sports stadium in America in the last 20 years has been publicly financed. Most to the tune of hundreds of millions. If you want a sports franchise you have to pay for it or they will just move somewhere that will pay for it. (aka whats happening in Seattle w/ the Supersonics) So be happy that you have a professional soccer team and all that had to happen was the county using their money to buy infrastructure that they get to keep.
Soccer Q | 8:32 p.m. April 13, 2008
Thanks Dave for fighting for this. Win, lose, or draw its great entertainment. Stop whining and enjoy the greatest game played!
Soccer hater | 9:27 p.m. April 13, 2008
Soccer is boring! There is no scoring!
Oh, and my tax dollars! MY TAX DOLLARS!!!

There. That about covers it all, right, haters? Now run along.
RSL... who cares | 9:42 p.m. April 13, 2008
Seriously you have to love the game a lot to be an RSL fan. I can't watch any of the MLS teams for more than a minute. Too slow and boring. The only teams I can stand to watch are Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester, and Liverpool, and maybe one or two others. Soccer in the states is lame. Football is king here my friends. How many good athletes from the US do you see playing soccer???
Anonymous | 10:14 p.m. April 13, 2008
ACTUALLY... there are quite a few players from the U.S. playing soccer, not only in the U.S. but overseas. This just proves your ignorance and complete disregard for the sport. You know nothing because if you did you would know this but yeah keep living in your bubble of NFL football (which I love) but at the end of the day SOCCER RULES THE WORLD!!!!!
Ethan | 10:43 p.m. April 13, 2008
Fantastic result and really good job by the fans (of which I am proudly one).

Lets keep it going Real!
oh so sweet | 12:25 p.m. April 14, 2008
It is good to see beckerman playing as well as he is. In my opinion he is the best on the team along with morales. And the Defense is completely organized and SOLID! Good job RSL and fans
Leo Rocks | 12:58 p.m. April 14, 2008
To RSL who cares:

Liverpool? I agree with the others, Arsenal and Man U are great to watch,... but Liverpool? Aside from Torres their team plays ugly soccer.

Anyway, great game Saturday, hope Talley took notes while watching Sturgis take his spot. I'll have to admit, I was pleased with Dema as well. Every ball he played in was dangerous. I didn't think he would be able to contribute that much.

Here is to the same type performance up in Toronto!

Go REal!

Like The Wolf said in "Pulp Fiction", "Let's not start...."

Well, I'd better not finish his quote if I don't want this post to disappear.

Yes, I like a 4-goal win as much as the next guy.

But the Evil Empire did not send out Gallardo and they sent their backup keeper out on to the Rice Eccles plastic 3 days after they had a tough game with Pachuca.

Let's see how we do against (promounced "a-GAYNST") FC Bob And Doug Mackenzie next weekend.

Let's kick their behinds (can I say "behinds" on this site?) and take their poutine, back bacon and ketchup chips!
