Risky ride: Nebo school bus driver navigates canyon route safely, courteously

Dear Korie:

Congratulations on having been chosen the "Outstanding Employee" by the Nebo School District.

Driving the "6" in Spanish Fork Canyon can be a real challenge even for the best of drivers; doing it with a school bus full of children even more so. The responsibility you have is beyond what is expected of most people.

I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with you regarding Utah's Historic U.S. Route 6.

The U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association is a Not-for-profit IRS 501 c 3 dedicated to the economic development and cultural preservation of inner cities, small towns and rural communities located along the Grand Old Highway.

We are all volunteer, either retired or keeping our day jobs. Historic U.S. 6 is not only the longest of the old roads at 3,652 miles, it is also the highest going over Loveland Pass, Colorado at 11,990 feet.

The Association started as the Sr. high school student project back in 2000. Student interns continue to play a major role in our development and activities.

I am so impressed with you as a bus driver!!! If all Nebo School District bus drivers where as thoughtful and kind as you are more kids would be willing to ride the bus to school. Congrats on your award you deserve every bit of it!
