Most would think five years of abuse (including the evident sexual abuse) of minors IS WAY TOO LONG for abuse to go unreported!
The control they (the elders) must have over all who live or visit the "compound" must be huge. Living in fear and forcing girls under the legal age of consent to have sex and babies...
Only FLDS members and others like them (willing to abuse or allow abuse of LITTLE girls) could possibly be defending them.
I doubt any members of the LDS faith would defend child abusers. The leaders have recently repeated the LDS Church's stand against child abuse in any form.

Not one person who posted criticising the way this was handled in any way
condones child rape. How dare you suggest such a thing. The way Texas
authorities handled this situation was a clear violation of human rights. That
does not mean what the men in compound were doing wasn't a violation.
Where were the authorities years ago? And more importantly, why didn't
they handle it in a manner that doesn't make the rest of God fearing church
goings terrified something like this won't happen at one of their churches
some day????

Yes, as an LDS person, I am deeply concerned about unwarranted police searches
and governmentally approved persecution. However, we all should remember that
we as citizens still don't know enoough facts about this case to know
whether the warrant was justified, whether adequate evidence of abuse was found
to make two arrests and remove 400 persons, or whether there was even a
violation of child abuse laws in the first place. Though I'm sensitive
about the government's proclivity to abuse individual rights in the name of
enforcing the law, I expect that when the facts finally come out, we'll
find out that the initial phone call was actually made by a 16-year-old girl
inside the compound and that children were actually being abused. I don't
like government sticking its nose in people's business very often, but I
certainly think one of those times that government is needed is to protect the
rights of innocent, powerless children under the control of abusive adults.

Dale Barlow wasn't the guy and his probation officer can prove it. If you care to be unbiased you would look closely and see he hasn't been able to leave Colorado City for quite some time, especially not without informing his probation office. Get your facts straight. Or are you offiliated with Law Enforcement in Texas. That would explain it!

To Concerned LDS: I'm with you. No one wants unwarranted government
intrusion. This is not unwarranted. Everyone in Utah knows the score on
polygamy, it's child abuse, it's incest (the evidence, incestuous
deformation, is in your face), also the murder of rivals, and disappearance of
people, the abondonment of young boys. I fully expect, the warrants, Texas and
Feds will be upheld.
Maybe the LDS wards should get together and take in these children to healthy families. I bet there are far more than 400 wonderful LDS homes out there. The mothers of the abused teenage girls gave up the right to be called mothers. Young mothers should be allowed to stay with their babies and be helped to assimilate into society. The male perpetrators need to spend 25 years in jail.

At first I thought that this was another instance of the government overstepping
it's bounds. And I was already aware of the cults past because of the
Warren Jeffs manhunt last year. As to constitutional rights being trampled?
Really? I'm all about freedom of religion, believe me, but you can't
hide behind religion to do something patently illegal. If this was a private
home raid instead of a church it wouldn't be out of the norm at all.
Someone calls CPS, and they investigate, in this case the investigation turned
to the church because of the known doctrines of the church and because of what
the complainant said, namely that she was the spiritual wife of some Mr. Barlow
(cops assumed Dale because of his conviction last year, and becasue this cult
has a ton of common names). In good faith the Texas authorities pursued Dale
Barlow, but now that he appears innocent I suspect you'll see Texas pursue
someone else. If anything law enforcement should be doing this kind of thing
more often, like what about the Catholics? Or how about Jews and circumcision?
Seems like we tolerate a lot in the name of religion, well no more.

I've read the affidavit. The woman who wrote it describes "adult males over the age of 17" and then refers to a 19 year old woman as a "child". The judge was senile not to notice this contradiction.
The only evidence these tyrants have is that which they manufactured. Do you realize these children and women are not being allowed visitors? They are likely being pumped full of drugs and brainwashed in locked roomed, while the government attempts to manufacture some more evidence. this is disgusting.

The FLDS community in Texas has had their constitutional rights severely
violated. I predict this case will unravel and the officials in Texas will have
egg on their faces.
But don't worry, Nancy Grace and Bill O'Reilly will say it was a good thing and because of what Warren Jeffs has done, no one in the Texas FLDS community deserves to have constitutional civil liberties.

The call that started this whole thing very likely originated within CPS itself.
This is why they cannot find the girl or even trace the call. This has happened
before.
Texas CPS loves it because it increases their funding and there is little sympathy for this group so no one calls them on what amounts to kidnapping on a massive scale.
Kidnapping is a serious offence to justice and this whole thing will lead to greater tragedy.

I feel the constitional rights of these people were violated. The handling of
this complaint( Not even knowing it's validity ) was all wrong. How
terrified these children must feel right now!They should just have went in and
questioned everyone and some older children and told them anyone could leave if
they chose and would be protected if they did. I personaly don't approve of
plural marriege but if homosexuals are granted marriages and rights then these
people should be allowed to practice what they believe in with strict rules of

To think that these people have broken the law does not mean they don't

If you really want to know what goes on the FLDS compounds, ask some of the
women who've been there and escaped that life. And, Conservitive,
didn't the State of Utah prosecute the leader, Warren Jeffs? And
isn't Arizona doint the same thing?
