Sounds like our buddy Ray Grass at the Deseret News is trying to get the water himself by telling everyone that you can't fish many of the local rivers during runoff. In many cases this is false.

The Provo and Weber rivers are tailwaters. That means they're below a dam. The dam is used during runoff season to control the waterflow and keep the river from "blowing out."

Runoff season is a great time to fish. Perfect temps (for fish and fishermen), good hatches at good times of day (baetis and caddis), water is just right and the fish are active.

Hey folks, the water is cold, wet, and dangerous. Perhaps your time would be better spent on the links hitting a little white ball in the sunshine.

C'mon Grass! The rivers are crowded enough as it is without you bringing on the hordes. It is called sarcasm people, look it up before you start firing off hate mail. Although the Provo river has a reputation for a reason...
