For all you comparing Paul to MJ and talking about how much better he is than
Deron keep one thing in mind. He has yet to prove anything in the playoffs.
Deron took the team to the Western Conf finals last year. Also keep in mind New
Orleans has done what Utah did last year. They snuck up on teams at the first
of the year. Let's see what happens next year when everyone has the
Hornets circled on the calander.

Paul and Williams are both incredible point guards and future hall of famers.
Those people saying "Paul is so superior/at a different level than
D-Will" obviously haven't watched basketball. Ditto about those who
claim "D-will owns Chris Paul every time." Both players are the
perfect fit for their teams. Any GM in the league would give up half his salary
to get either one of them. Jazz fans, realize that D-will's stats will
never be as high as Paul's. Not because he can't, but the Jazz
"team system" of play means he'll have to give up the ball more
than Paul ever will. What matters most is who wins.

Even Boozer know, you're entitled to your opinion, but your hyperbole does
nothing more than betray your lack of logic, objectivity and knowlege. D-Will
is "not even close to the talent skill and leadership ability of
Paul"? I suggest you have some Lasik, watch some Jazz games, view some
stats and data, and refrain from posting until after the alcohol or THC has been
metabolized.

If you'll recall it was a 3 way choice of points at the time. Raymond
Felton was in the mix too.
Felton's not bad, but he's nowhere near these two.
It could be situational at this point, the team each of them is on allows or limits the level their able to excell.
It is too early to tell who's the best; so far head-to-head D-Will's the better point. Overall though CP3's fills more stat categories.
D-Will's our guy, Paul's not. (I may have loved Paul more had we picked him, but) I couldn't be happier with D-Will. D-Will was a monster in last years Playoffs. Plus, he's bigger, smart, durable and knows when to pass and when to take the shot.
I am pleased with who we picked; though it really wouldn't matter if I wasn't.
Same goes for those who talk that we should have got CP3, we didn't. It's not changing, so kindly I ask that you just, shut up already.

I love how you and all the sloan lovers act like the jazz are the only team with
a "system" do you even know what a system is??? How can you say you
are the voice of reason when you make completley lame and inaccurate statements
about Deron having to give up the ball more than Paul. Do you watch the

Deron handles the ball 99% of time he's on the court. The jazz outlet to him on every single possession, and he is the only player that call plays. The jazz "system" is totally dominated by the point guard. Just so you know, thats why Brewer and AK hold the ball without dibbling countless times each night. Deron is virtually the only perimeter player allowed create off the dribble.
I get it that you want to defend the notion of Williams being better than Pau, but lets stop making things up out of thin air!!

And the beat goes on - why do we even have to compare any of these players to
one another? Just to pull someone's strings and get the trash talk going
is why. D'will and Paul are both excellent players and both will probably
get better through time. Longevity is the key - give them each a few more years
and then start comparing if you feel the need to do so. Better yet, get a life
and quit acting like you know the whole history of basketball. Both players are
doing well for their teams and should be recognized as such. But remember - it
take an entire team to play an entire season and to make it to the championship
game - not just a single individual!

Why is it that you insist on turning every discussion to Jerry Sloan.
NOBODY WAS TALKING ABOUT JERRY SLOAN!!!!!
Seriously, your obsession is not only annoying, it is unhealthy.
As far as Williams and Paul go I've said it before, along with several others on this board, and I will say it again, the argument over who is, or rather who will be, a better player is about 10 year premature.
However, I think it is hard to argue the fact that Paul has had an off-the-charts year. He has lead his team to the best record in the most competitive conference in the history of the west, he leads the league in Assists and Steals and he is third in Ast/TO ratio. I mean his average stat line goes like this,
21 pts, 12 ast, 4 reb, 3 stl, 50% FG, 37% 3pt, and his PER is second only to Lebron James.
D-will is a great player and I wouldn't trade him for any other point guard in the league, including Paul, but from a pure numbers and accomplishiments standpoint, this year belongs to Chris Paul.

Where have I been the last 20 years? Watching the games of course. I do know
what a system is, the question is, do you? The Sloan system means that half the
time, other players besides the PG will be the one's making the extra pass,
or taking the shot. Its based on plays, not on players. The PG's job is to
call the play and initiate it (not necessarily finish it).
In NO every possession begins AND ends with Chris Paul. Deron decides exactly what the other players are going to do and runs the play (whether or not that play means he gets an assist or bucket). He oftentimes is asked to let someone else make that last pass,meaning he gives up the ball more. Yes he handles the ball 99% of the time, but since when did that show up on a stat sheet?
Case and point: the Jazz are #2 in the league in team assists, while NO is only #14. Deron is only 1 assist off Paul's season average. Obviously other Jazzmen are doing a lot of dishing, that in NO would be done by Paul.

About Sloan. The guy's definitely got his faults (like the attitude of
"you got yourself into this hole, now deal with it") but hey if you
can find another coach who'll give us 24 winning seasons in the last 25
years, let me know. Sloan's teams have been consistently good for the past
20 years, not even half the coaches in the NBA can say that.

All you on the CP3 bandwagon, just remember in the future that you jumped on the
CP3 bandwagon and when the careers are over you will see that D Will is the
better player and we don't want you as D Will fans. With that said, I say
this year Chris Paul for MVP he deserves it, heck of a year for him and New
Orleans. Willie has more size, more clutch, and can get to the hoop and finish
better. He is a great passer too. Paul is a better passer, Willie is a better
clutch performer. How many huge shots has Willie hit? Yeah, he is 23 years old,
just wait till he is in his prime. Go Jazz!

Sloan Haters love to turn every thread into a sloan bash party. This tread has
nothing to do with Jerry, yet the bashers come in and target Jerry. Sad sad sad.
They don't think that Jerry is a good coach but a lousy coach. That just
shows how much they know about basketball which is not much.
All basketball experts regard Sloan as a great coach. Only a great coach can rebuild a team in 2 years.

I completely agree with Magnus and Reason's Voice. Both Paul and Williams
are great players and playmakers. We won't be able to tell which is
"better" until their both at the end of their careers. As a jazz fan
though, I wouldn't trade williams for anyone! GO JAZZ.

Hey, I'm a die hard Jazz fan and think D-Will is awesome. No doubt Paul has had the best year among PGs this season. D-Will is #2. That's not a diss on D-Will ... and I agree with many that it is so hard to compare because they are two different systems. Anyone that says otherwise is an ignorant fan. Saying that, D-Will's stats would maybe be a little better if roles were reversed, but who really knows?
Bottom line is that both are awesome. Next year D-Will might be considered #1, but to do so, the TEAM needs to be more consistent. If the Hornets were middle of the pack and the Jazz were #1 in the west, D-Will would be getting more love and Paul less. So let's see what happens in the playoffs.

So far the jazz have done exactly what i have been saying for the last six months, they will win 45-55 games.
Now it's only a matter time that will accomplish
the rest of what I said: lose in the playoffs and get another mediocre draft pick, only this year there is no draft pick.
And thus the mad cycle continues.

Alot of good trying to win championships has done the Celtics for the last 20 years.
Just because the Jazz have not won a championship does not mean they never will, and you're right the cycle of winning does continue, and will continue for years to come. The mere fact that they have already proven, both with past teams and last year, that they can beat the best teams in the league and advance deep into the playoffs completely refutes your unfounded statements.
The matchups don't matter this year, the west is tough from top to bottom. It would not surprise me if Golden State and Dallas (Dirk is an ANIMAL) both won in the first round. I am super exited for these playoffs, and super exited for the future of the Jazz.

I have watched the two play each other several times. Williams' team has won the majority of those games. It's not close. You just can't watch the two together and believe that Paul is a far superior player. I just ain't so. That Korver doesn't play defense hasn't watched many jazz games this
year. I've been pretty impressed with his defense hustle and with him and
Matt Harpring on the floor the Jazz second string is d@mn near as good as any
other team's first string. CP3 vs DWill, hands down I'd take Dwill
every time. Bigger, more durable, able to finish better, and I think DWill just
has more competitive spirit.
