This is a message to all concerned. I am a father of an abused Utah child.
I reported to Salt Lake Sheriff's department that my child was abused the
day before in her home that she shares with her mother and stepfather. The
mother was the abuser and had bitten the child(a 16 year old)on the back of the
arm as well as giving the child a bloody nose with a blow to the back of the
head. Upon the arrival of the police my child was locked in a safe room in the
house. The police interviewed the abuser and stepfather and when my child
entered the room she was told how bad she was and that she should respect her
moter. The child was in disbelief at this comment by police officers and asked
why they could not see that her mother was not telling the truth. At this point
the officers told my abused daughter that they would take her to Detentionif she
did not settle down. The police report was filed with the child as the one at
fault. With the help of DFS this case was taken to court and the mother was
found guilty.
