Tragic outcome — Girl found dead in nearby South Salt Lake apartment

I heard the Amber Alert on the radio while in my car this afternoon. I was quite
frustrated that they went on and on about the details of the case, but in all
their reporting, they never gave a description of the missing girl, but kept
referring us to the station's website for a description. Now, it sounds
like it wouldn't have helped in this case because she had been abducted by
someone in the same apartment complex and wouldn't have been outside to be
seen, but as a general rule, wouldn't it make sense to mobilize all the
people in cars as part of your virtual search team by broadcasting a description
of the missing child? I was flabbergasted.

To seek refuge in this country because you feel it is so much better... then to
have your daughter abducted and murdered by one of it's citizens...
unbelievable. The family sounds like really good people... much prayers and
love to them... hope they have much comfort during this time.

This is tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Life has dealt
them such a tough hand and it was only multiplied with this loss.
I would ask people to refrain from pointing fingers. Everyone did their best, they exercised their best judgment to keep this from happening and to bring her safely home. No one could have foresaw this happening. If you are looking to blame someone or to get mad, please express those feelings to the 5 people sitting behind bars in the South Salt Lake Police Department.
I applaud the efforts of all those who volunteered and gave of their service for this young child.

How sad this is for this family. I will never understand why and how anyone
could harm a child like this. I pray God gives this family the strength to carry
on. God holds this child now.

I just want to say that my whole family prayed for this little girl and we are

I agree that at this time we should not seek "who to blame" Except the
people sitting in Jail. There will be a time and topic for us to express
ourselfs. This is a time for Prayer and to wish the family well. I hope her
services are well attended and paid for by donation, a fine Casket and Headstone
would be in good order. I also hope lessons are learned from this incident.

Our hearts aches for the family and will keep them in our prayers. It's
unbelievable that there are those that would do harm like this to anyone. Truly
shows no respect for life or a belief in God. Such a sad sign of the times we
are living in.

I just want the family to know how sorry I am. But please find peace that now
your beautiful daughter is in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father to never be

For crimes like these to stop, we need to end the current procedure of giving
the animals that are found guilty of these crimes a nice place to sleep and 3
meals a day for the rest of their lives. The ones found guilty of this crime
need to experience the trauma they caused this girl, ending with their deaths.

Yesterday, I was with the family when the search was ongoing, and someone was
worrying about how to deal with the work responsibilities of the family members,
and the mother asked a translator to help her express her feelings to one of the
resettlement agency directors. She said, "We can live under a bridge if we
need to" -- but the most important thing was to search for their daughter.
This comment shows their fragile financial situation. I'm sure donations
would be appreciated.

I hope that the perpetrators of this crime live a life of suffering and die
ignominious deaths. And you can spare me the lecture on forgiveness in this
case. For a crime this heinous we all know deep in our hearts that there is no
forgiveness, and never will be. The men who did this sealed their eternal doom
when they chose to trade a child's life for an orgasm. Which I'm
sorry to say so bluntly is what these tragic cases boil down to. It's
revolting, and it angers me. May they rot in hell.

As I write this, tears are flowing and my heart hurts for the sad news. I had hoped and prayed this sweet, innocent child would be found unharmed and back with her family. What a tragedy. I can't bear to think what they must have done to her and yes, she is with our Heavenly Father. May the Lord's choices blessings and comfort be with her family and friends and may those who harmed her be convicted to the fullest extent of the law.

I want to know why South Salt Lake turned down the help of other agencies on
Monday night. K-9 from Salt Lake City, Granite Police who had access to this
little girl's class roster and the phone numbers for those children. When
a child is missing, you can't afford to wait and see if they return in the
morning. All the stops should be pulled out and the inter-agency rivalry needs
to be ignored. Don't these people have children of there own? The rule of
thumb should be that you do what you would want done if your own child was
missing.

God lets these things happen for the same reason he lets you make mistakes- if
he forced you to do or not do anything, you wouldn't have real freedom of
choice. The perverted perpetrators will face man's justice, then
God's- in God's time.

As a father of 2 little girls, this absolutely rips my heart out. My 4 year old
had a birthday yesterday and while she was so happy and excited this poor sweet
girl was being found. It just simply horrifies me. I do not blame the brothers
for thier anger. I also have an 18 year old son, whose 9 and 4 year old sisters
are his little sweethearts. I cannot imagine his rage (or mine) in this
situation.

Many have noted the possible need for donations. This family has very limited
income due to the short amount of time they have been here as refugees. They are
just begining their new life here in Utah. Donations would help so much. Not
only could we as the people of Utah help with funeral and headstone expenses but
perhaps we could also help get her two older brothers in college.

apartment complex? How terrible to have to go home to this apartment everyday
knowing this is the place where your daughter was murdered. Lets everyone pull

Last night I saw the amber alert and instead of flipping to a different channel,
I watched it for nearly half an hour. I can't possibly express how much I
am aching for this family. When I heard this morning that she was found, I was
happy, but when I heard the tragic news, my stomach flipped. I couldn't
believe that that sweet girl could be mistreated so much. I've had a prayer
in my heart ever since I found out and now that she has been found, I'll
continue to pray for the family. I truly hope that they can feels gods love and
comfort and possibly find it in them to know that we are still good people.
I hope that the right justice comes to the offenders responsible for this. I can only pray that the family will feel comfort in knowing that there beautiful daughter is safe in her Heavenly Fathers presence now.
May god be with this family in their time of grief. I can't even imagine how hard it would be if one of my siblings were abducted. You have my prayers and condolences. God will always love you, even though its hard sometimes.

Not only is she wrapped in the loving arms of our Savior today, she was also at
the time of her death. I believe the Savior reaches down and shields these
little ones from enduring such pain and horror. While agency allows evil to take
place, I truly believe the Savior's love intervenes at the moment of the
most pain and fear particularly with his most innocent children. Let's all
hold our children just a bit closer and longer tonight.
Not to criticize but learn - I hope changes can be made allowing for searches of the most obvious locations with or without owner/renter consent. Residences within a certain radious should qualify for an automatic warrant after a reasonable effort to notify owners in these types of situations.

The laws need to change. Police should have the ability to enter without
permission in a situation like this. Where is the common sense in this country
when it comes to protecting children. I understand constitutional rights are
important, but when children keep getting killed, we need to find a way around
the law. Their lives are more important than stupid privacy laws!!!!!!

I pray that the Great Spirit to comfort the family. Utah courts convict these
men with the death penalty. Other countries don't waste
time/money/resources to punish those without a doubt that are guilty of crimea

I too agree that this a heinous crime. I have children of my own and can't
imagine going thru this. You can't decide that in a situation like this
you will bend the laws to allow searches without permission...if you do when
does it stop. We have laws for a reason and if you are going to change them
depending on the cimcumstances then eventually we would no longer be living in a
free society. The laws that need to be changed are the ones keeping the
criminals alive instead of punishing them like they deserve. Maybe if we
didn't let these people live off the system for years and made examples out
of them, it wouldn't be happening so often.

It SHOULD be unbelievable since it's not true.
The murderer is also a refugee from southeast Asia. He has been in the community for 30 days. Why the knee jerk response to blame ourselves? Refugees preying on others in their own community has been going on since the boat people immigration in the 70's. This guy is either a pedophile or had some hare-brained idea to hold her for a ransom. Either way it turned out tragically.
Our justice system will deal with this animal now but the community doesn't need to wring our hands with angst and guilt for what happened to this poor innocent child--not this time anyway.

Cool it! Save your anger for another time. This is a time for the family-
regardless of who has done what, they have been wronged in a new place, and it
will be traumatizing for time to come. I feel strongly for them. They have
obviously struggled through a lot in their lives, and in many different places.
It is our responsibility as citizens to at the least respect that- and if possible lend ourselves in whatever way we can.
