Performing under Dr. Blackinton's baton was a pleasure. He helped us create beautiful music and showed us wonderful sites as we toured the world. While the music department is in good hands his direction will be missed.

I had the opportunity to perform under Dr. B in the Cougar Marching Band in '82-85. Band was so much fun during those times I know he never knew what to expect from the Tubas. Thanks Dr. B.

Australia/New Zealand tour | 4:38 p.m. March 31, 2008
I had the wonderful opportunity of touring Australia and New Zealand with the Wind Symphony and Dr. Blackinton. Dr. Blackinton has a talent for drawing the best out of his musicians. I loved every minute playing in his bands. BYU is losing a marvelous musician, and I'm in line for the Nauvoo Brass Band's CDs!! Have a BLAST, Dr. B.!

Congratulations to Dr. Blackington!

I had the great privilege to be in the Marching Band under his direction in '84 and '85, and then to tour with the Wind Symphony under his direction in '87 (British Isles) and '89 (China).

He can't really be old enough to retire?!

Congratulations to you and best wishes in Nauvoo!

Wish we could be there for the concert, but we are stuck here in PA.

I was part of Dr. Blackinton's first Cougar Marching Band in 1980, and again in 1984. What a great experience! Thank you for all your contributions to the university and the community. I wish I could be there for the concert, but maybe we'll see you in Nauvoo.

I only had one semester with Dr. Blackington's Wind Symphony but it was the most influential (Winter 01 - Germany tour) but it was one of the most fulfilling. Thanks for the memories!!!
