Oh, forget the trespassing charges. No one else was injured by his actions -- in regards to deterrence, I'm sure he (and anyone else aware of the events) learned a lesson. Natural consequences are always better than contrived ones.

with Joe Moe. Let it go. Missing a foot is punishment enough in this case.

Forget dropping the charges, give him the trespassing charges. Jumping on a train, if not properly trained, is a very dangerous and stupid thing to do, as this kid has proven. But to not file charges, just gives the next kid caught doing it, a way out of the charges.

This is his sister here. This has been a very unique experience for all of us. Thank you for your kind and understanding comments. He is safely at home now where we are all happy. And, he is giving up a lot of bad habits! Its been good for all of us.

It's done. Charges have been filed. I understand what Anonymous is saying. Maybe my son should be used as an example. What he did was stupid, dangerous and wrong.
However, he is trying hard to turn his life around. I feel charging him is adding insult to injury.
He's learned his lesson. He's lost his toe and is looking at a long convalescence. He has suffered and is suffering. He is very discouraged and depressed. He feels there is no hope. What more does the city or the railway officials want?
