FrontRunner to start rolling on April 26

If anyone from UTA is reading these comments could you please let us know what is happening with the bus system down in SLC to get us from the intermodal hub out to the various locations where we work. There was a big change last fall, will there be some other major changes at the end of April? Is there Public Comment? I've been to the web site and don't find much.

I don't work in SL anymore, but if I did, I wouldn't be taking the train. Not only would it cost $4 to $4.50--depending where I choose to drive to--ONE WAY, but I would still have to drive (or take a bus, yeah, right) to the nearest station, and then take another bus/trax from SLC to my job site. Still sounds like an hour commute. On the rare occasions I drive to SL now, it only takes 40 minutes. And as yet, gas still would be cheaper [but come next week, who knows] than the round trip fare. Outside of SL county, UTA is a miserable joke. And it's only a little better in SL itself. What will it take to get a serious public transportation system?

At my cost of $4 one way, it's not worth the cost -- plus the additional time to drive to the station in Davis County, park, wait for Front Runner, arrive at the hub on 600 West, then take a bus or trax into downtown. That could take an hour. Normal commute time is 35-40 minutes. Even with these dreadful gas prices, it'll still be about $50 less per month to drive. What's the motivation to switch from car to front runner?

I don't know, the internet access on the train is a nice alternative to driving...

Let's get real. Do you really think the only cost to driving is gas? Try at least $.50 per mile when you add everything up. As the area continues to grow, the driving hassle will become increasingly painful. The wonderful new highways are now parking lots at rush hour. It will get worse. Super highways only increase urban sprawl and miles driven. Public transportation is the only answer but it must be frequent and reliable with easy and quick transfers. UTA is way behind the power curve with little public confidence. The system has to work or no one will trade the car for something that may or may not get you where you want to go the same day you leave home.
