Did people in Utah forget about John McCain and how he tried to derail the
federal money coming into Utah for the olympics..ie to rebuild I-15. John
McCain was the biggest pain the the butt. He kept calling it pork barrel
spending...I don't think you can call John McCain a friend to Utah.

Hey "Mitt" if you want to quote the Book of Mormon, you might remember
the parts about the majority of the people voting for someone- and this being
the more righteous choice- remember the Kingmen would have a pitty party and go
off because their "candidate" didn't win and try to king him.
McCain certainly isn't my first choice- but he is a choice closer to my principals than the other two. Sometimes your vote has to keep those with less of your principals out of the highest office in the land where they could do the most damage. If you think things can't change that much in 4 years- again look to the Book of Mormon to show you that is wrong.

There are many people supporting Obama simply because he is black or Hillary because she is a woman, and their values go by the wayside. At least if you go with faith and values as a guid you have a good idea of a candidates moral compass. I think voting for a candidate because of their religious beliefs, or their
race, or their gender is very shallow. Their is not one candidate in this race
that I WANT to vote for. I stand with McCain on some issues and stand with
Obama/Hillary on a very few. I disagree with Mitts 'round 'em up and
throw them out' policy on immigration. Yes, round up the illegals that
commit crimes and deport them, but have a path to citizenship for those who are
employed so that they can pay taxes and not bleed our welfare system to death.
I'm beggining to really like Lou Dobbs as a candidate.

The Book of Moromon does have a great deal to say about fighting pre-emptive wars -- and that God pretty much let the people tank when they did so.
It nauseates me to hear people chanting the mantra, "We are fighting for our freedoms...." We are actually fighting a war of agression. Not saying we don't need to root out Bin Laden and other insurgents, but attacking a COUNTRY and trying to form it to our idea of an acceptable democracy is quite a different matter. That's imperialism.
I won't be rewarding the Republican Party with any more money this year -- and likely for a long time to come. And I'll either write-in Ron Paul or vote for the Libertarian.

The reason Mitt Romney dropped out in the first place was to save our party from
being divided and having more of a chance to keep the White House. This was
never about McCain, it was always about the Republican Party as a whole. McCain
was just the more stubborn candidate who wouldn't look outside of himself
for the greater good. OF COURSE Romney had to be the selfless, mature one and
think ahead. That's the reason Romney isn't in the election right now.

Not that age has become a metric in presidential qualifications, certainly knowledge and correct identification of warring factions in Iraq is, and McCain has not performed well.

Maybe Mitt is a favorite son becuase he lived in Utah while he attended BYU, or
maybe becuase he has a house in Park City, or maybe becuase he saved the SLC
Olympics. Obviously some require more extensive criteria to be a favorite son -
MORONS! Also, exit polls showed over 80% of Evangelicals in Utah voted for
Romney in the GOP compared with 92% of Mormons. So apparently there are 12% of
Mormons who voted purely based on sharing the same faith, or 12% of Evangelicals
who didn't vote for him based on his faith. Or maybe is was a little of
both. Either way, bashing mormons, or utahns just becuase they didn't vote
for Ron Paul shows how much of an idiot you are. You don't give
Utahn's the respect they deserve. We are a very well educated state and we
are much more informed than the average American voter.

Wow. That was an over reaction. The last time I checked, There haven't
been any soldiers drafted to fight in the war, they are there because they love
their country, and they are proud to stand up for this nation. Also,your

chance at winning, so save your time and effort. Also, I think the whole Mormon
thing has been done to death. You need to accept the fact that people really

Uh, yeah, that's why Romney dropped out of the election. NO, that's
not the name of the game. If it was all about power, and winning and losing,
Romney would still be in the election. The issue at hand was a lot bigger than
winning or losing the election for himself, that's why he quit. The bigger
issue was winning the White House for the Republican Party so that the Democrats
won't get it and mess up our country. I promise, Mitt didn't just
decide one day "oh, I'll be a nice guy and let McCain have the
Republican nomination." Romney doesn't endorse McCain, he endorses our
party, and in order to do that, he has to endorse McCain.

Funny thing is that even though Ron Paul doesn't have a chance at the
nomination, I've been comming across several articles latley that more or
less state, "now that our economy is in the toilet, maybe we should have
listened to Ron Paul after all."
Right now my vote is up in the air. I'll probably write in Ron Paul myself unless one of the current puppets renounce their ties to the CFR and admit that Paul was right about the economy.
Right now it looks like we are going to get more of the same. Our economy is only going to get worse, whether money is wasted on entitlement programs or military adventurism.
In the meantime. I've already ordered my "Don't blame me, I voted for Ron Paul" bumpersticker.

I am a born-raised Mormon and a Ron Paul supporter. I was not always in his camp
-- first, because I really didn't know anything about his message, and
second, because I was worried that he could not succeed.
After much deliberation I have decided that I can no longer cast my vote for candidates who are taking this country down the wrong path. To do so teaches them that I either approve of their policies or that I don't care.
I KNOW that Ron Paul will not win. But a vote for him gives encouragement to the many young Ron Paul supporters who will be voting for the first time -- who are not yet addicted to debt like their parents -- and to the many upcoming candidates running on the same platform of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and non-imperialistic foreign policy.
They need to see that these principles are not totally falling on deaf ears -- so they can have the courage to carry on another day.
I don't have to have immediate gratification.

mate. Then my vote is that McCain keels over in the first two years of office

They are there because they have been lied to by their government. They are not so much volunteers but human sacrifices by Bush and Cheney. Cheney who received five deferrments from the Viet Nam War and Bush who got a nice spot in the National Guard and then awol'ed from that.
In addition, the current US backed leader in Iraq, Maliki, has 60% disapproval rate (like Bush here. Our poor troops are backing an unpopular regime and so are you. That's why 4,000 of them are deceased, thousands more mentally and physically scarred for life. And, our economy is swirling the bowl.

This kind of talk is insulting to all of the troops, those currently fighting,
those who gave their lives for the cause, and those who have been injured.
Negative comments like yours certainly won't help their morale. If
you've ever watched/read the interviews, the soldiers over there do believe
in their cause, and they do see the good they are doing. We all need to get
behind these brave men and women and be proud that we have volunteers who are

re stop loss: you are right on. I know too many soldiers who have been called
upon to fight, then called upon to fight again, and then... like my son-in-law
called upon to serve again in Iraq.
To be honest and forthright, to openly state the facts, is not being negative. It is being truthful. I love the soldiers, but a I hate the war. And I know that we are fighting in Iraq for oil and revenge, and not enough in Afghanistan where al Quieda is making it stand.

Tell us how it was my friend, when you voluntarily stayed behind in a hellish POW camp out of a sense of loyalty to other men; tell us of your courage, and of your heroism, that has made you so great that you can proclaim and identify the 'small men' amongst us. Tell us what it is about Willard Romney, a man that can't remember what it is that he believes from one day to the next, a man that believes he is the one for the job based upon his 'corporate raider' persona and his ability to make money at the expense of others, that makes him appear to be such a 'presidental looker' standing next to a man that suffered for his nation. Is it his hair? Is it his church? You don't have to answer, it is painfully obvious. For the record, McCain's service doesn't necessarily make him presidential material; but 'small man syndrome' sufferer, he is not. Likely more man than you could even imagine.

My husband is a senior naval officer soon headed to Afghanistan. The cirlces I
run in are largely military. The most frequent adjective I hear from these
people regarding the war is "stupid" war. My own husband believes it
to have been an ill-advised fiasco.

I totally understand your frustration and your refusal to support a Republican Party careening madly out of control. My concern is that if your vote goes to Nader it will be viewed as a vote for more liberalism. I ask you to consider not sending an unclear message with your protest vote. If you are upset with the Republican Party's liberal bent, how about writing-in Ron Paul or voting for the Libertarian...?
If you are unsure if that is acceptable to you, how about taking the Smallest Political Quiz in the World...? (You'll have to google it because they won't post URL's)

I don't think so. He was merely being practical. He knew he wasn't
going to win so he didn't want to dump anymore of his own money into the
campaign. Simple really.

The Washington Post article today on the McCain break with Bush on foreign
policy suggests that if Mitt is going to be the vice president, his foreign
policy team is going to have to pry themselves away from their outdated
"stay the course" Bush-worship.
I think it's great that Josh took a pass on a campaign this fall -- I think that's a good signal that Mitt is getting ready for a VP run.
