Fish shouldn't be too upset with the boos. It just shows how much Jazz fans
felt like we still needed him.Plus, most people realize he's a class act
off the court, but on the court he's the enemy and a Laker to boot.

So we still need Gira? Fisher should just realise that the utah fans are damn
passionate, they arent fans of a player like the cavs with Lebron they are fans
of the team, leave the team and your going to hear it, If I recall correctly
Karl Malone didnt play in Utah when he was a laker, curious to see how that
would've gone. Fisher didn't have to go back to probably our biggest
rival.

Fisher is a fake, a fraud, and a charlatan. He supposedly left because there
were only a few hospitals that could treat his daughter. LA was NOT one of the
cities where the treatment was available and is farther from the needed service
than Salt Lake.
Derek got us to buy his lie hook, line, and sinker...

I agree that things worked out best for the Jazz; Ronnie is an awesome player
who is getting well-deserved minutes and making a great difference. However,
quit playing the game that there was some noble motive on Derek's end. I
don't hold any animosity or ill will, but the truth is he left for selfish
reasons other than just his daughter's care and deceived the Jazz owners
and fans.

Fisher did lie to the Jazz, Larry Miller and to us, the Jazz fans. He is a
fraud and personally I think using your daughter's illness to manipulate
your situation is despicable. Fisher deserves no respect. He has no honor.
That being said, I have to agree with Page. Let's get over it. I'll take Ronnie B over Fisher any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Fisher served a nice purpose last year in tutoring D-Will a little and provding some leadership. The team moved on and has improved. We the fans should do likewise.

I would boo him too. Anyone who leaves the jazz just because they want to
deserves to be booed. I am a fan of the team first, then I am a fan of the
players on the team. When he left the team, I decided to not be his fan
anymore. Boo Fisher.

I still like Fisher and wish him and his family the very best. He worked his
tail off while he was with the Jazz and he helped us when we needed it.
Now he is with the enemy and so he should expect some boos. If he had signed with the Clippers, there probably wouldn't have been so much of a problem.
The whole problem is with which team he signed with. Lakers=enemies!

What is funny about this whole thing, is it took fisher to leave on his own so
brewer could get some minutes.
I promise you if fisher had stayed Sloan would have played him ahead of Brewer and we would be a worse team. I'm glad fisher left, because sloan would never figure out that brewer is 6'7 and a much better player.

All of you so called Jazz fans are so pathetically insecure. There is absolutely
no reason to boo a guy who gave everything he had while he was here. I truly
believe he left for the right reasons to care for his daughter. I am the biggest
Jazz fan you'll ever meet and I hate the Lakers, but that doesn't
change my opinion that many Jazz fans are some of the most insecure in the
league and I am appalled and embarrassed to see so many take the lower road to
boo someone These Jazz fans simply have falsely conjured up in their heads. How
do you know Fisher intentionally left the Jazz just so he could sign with the
Lakers to spite us. There is no logic to that notion. To all who believe Fisher
unscrupulously left for those reasons, grow up and learn that the game is not
about cheering against someone. You're focus should cheering your team on.
What if this same situation happened to John Stockton. What if he left to play
for the Lakers. Would you boo him?

I don't want to hear that its okay to boo Fisher, because its not. I love
the Jazz but am tired of the typical Jazz fan a.k.a let the boos ring,
displaying there classlessness. Who cares why D. Fish is not here anymore, quit
taking it so personal. When you own the team, and know all the details regarding
the D. Fish departure then feel free to boo. When you change employers I hope
you get booed when you go back to visit, no I take that back, because booing is
classless!

Is there any proof that he lied and left for selfish reasons? All we have is
speculations and people's opinions. Get over it. So he left. That is ok.
Quit speculating and let the man play the game. He has always had a good track
record off the court. There is really nothing more than opinions to say he lied

It is these media fools that keep claiming that ALL Jazz fans (or even the
majority) in the stadium were booing Fisher every time he touched the ball.
That simply was not the case. He was booed by maybe a little more than a
quarter of the fans upon introduction, and only a smattering of fans throughout
the game. The media likes to blow this thing way out of proportion....you know,
kinda do what they always do when they make a mountain out of a mole hill. I am
sure it will likely be the same tonight.

Just remember some of your player do not appreciate the boos on Fisher. Carlos
Boozer has a sick child and can relate to what Fisher has gone through, and I
know he wonders if his situation became as dire as Derek's and he had to
leave the Jazz would you boo him? He said he did not like the boos.Be classless
if you want. It is silly under these circumstances.

You said it!! Booz situation IS/WAS just as bad as Fishers and did we see him
trying to dissolve his contract? Did he lie to get out of town? He made the
best of a difficult situation. The flights to Florida aren't short
either.
Derek the "Flaker" says "I need treatment for my daughter back east" ie. New York and then immediately signs with the Lakers? Duh!! Wrong direction dude!! For a man that is supposedly so smart you would think he knows which direction is east.
He did not want to come here to begin with, if you will recall he did not show up immediately, and he had to explain away his "shock" with the trade from the Warriors.
How many more blatant signs do you people need? He USED HIS DAUGHTERS ILLNESS as an escape hatch to get out of Utah.
Nobody here likes the fact that he did not want to be here and the fact that all the evidence points to the fact he LIED to get out.

How come everyone's being so sensitive? It's a game. I think if any
one of us ran into Fisher on the street (in real life), we'd wish him and
his family the absolute best.
But this is a game played by millionaires. And if they're going to get all sensitive when fans try to take them out of their element and not perform well (home court advantage), then they probably shouldn't be in the entertainment industry. I don't think BYU fans really HATE ute players (football or basketball), but they'll boo them off the field as part of the game. We do the same to Carmelo Anthony. Should we get all touchy-feely about his emotions? No! We should boo him off the court.
Fisher said that the crowds reaction suprised him. That means it was on his mind; and he wasn't fully invested in the game. Job well done fans!

I will boo Fish like a wild man tonight, but not because he betrayed the Jazz,
but because I want the Jazz to win.
Fish left for family support in a time of crisis first, and top notch medical care second. If I were on the road 100+ days per year, my child was incredibly ill, and my wife's entire family was in LA, I would move to LA too without question. Easy decision.
For those of you who vehemently disagree and suspect Fish's character, you fall into one of the following perfectly acceptable categories: (1) You are childless and have no frame of reference (2) You have children but are likely emotionally shallow, or at worst, don't love your children (3) You are quite possibly a bit irrational or unfortunately just clueless.
Please choose. :-)

I can't believe this article! Fisher does not deserve to be booed. If you
FOLLOWED the story you would know that Fisher's main concern was his girl.
The Jazz released him knowing that he could sign with another team. Kevin
O'Connor said he understood that Fisher might be leaving the game and he
might be playing for another team (and he added "we hope he comes back to
us")

Truth is for what fans pay for a ticket they have the right to boo if they want.
If it's taken beyond booing and on a personal level then that's wrong.
I personally would never boo fisher unless he made a game winning shot or along
those lines. I still stand by the fact that he was a class act on and off the
court period. And beyond all of this we got Korver and Brewer developing and
filling the gap just fine. Also, CJ is really starting to come of age and he has
played well when given the opportunity.Let's not forget about Almond who
is showing promise as well. It was a good thing that he left helping the Jazz in
more ways than one.

If you had kids maybe you would think twice before ragging on a guy who did what
he thought was best for his family. I would quit my job and join our companies

Also don't forget he made serious sacrafices to be at the games when his daugher was very sick. When he entered the game after flying across the country was one of the most thrilling sporting moments I have witnessed. He also had some key plays in both series that the Jazz won.

i am a huge jazz fan and felt the tears when fish came into the game last
season! I think he is a great guy whoever he plays for!! After all... The jazz
have a GREAT team this year and can win without fish!!! I dont think that the
man deserves anything but respect!! BTW... GO JAZZ!!!!!!!!!

To those expressing their disgust/embarassment with the treatment Derek received
on his first game back as a "VISITOR". . . thanks . . I was thinking I
was pretty much alone in wanting to hold onto certain values.
I just wished that those (fanatics ?)that share an affection for my favorite NBA team would "act like they've been somewhere". It would'nt surprise me if Jeff Foxworthy came up with a joke about them and their "macho-ness".

Fish left millions on the table to sign with the lakers. at the time he signed
with the them, the jazz were in much better shape than the lakers. kwame, no
pau, an unknown in bynum. you think fish wanted to leave the jazz and millions

What I want to know is why, during the playoffs last year, D-fish flew to New
York for treatment when, apparently, L.A. would have been just as good? If he
were a knickerbocker right now, I wouldn't boo him; but if he was willing
to settle for L.A., even though he seems to think New York is a better fit, why
couldn't he settle to stay in Utah and make some more trips to the big
apple? I hope we run into the Lakers in the playoffs and shut Kobe's big
mouth (although first I hope we can run into the Hornets and show the ESPN guys
why Deron is soooooooooo much better than CP3).

The main problem is Fish signed with the Lakers. Three things to remember: Fish
saved us in Game6 of the Houston series with his steal on H's 2 on 1 break
and subsequent pass for Gira's three at the end of the third quarter; he
did a great job tutoring the fellas (esp DWill) on what it takes to win; and if
he was here Brewer wouldn't be near the player he is now, which is
phenomenal.
Oh, yeah, and Boozer lied to get out of Cleveland, and Fish left about 9 million on the table by leaving. Get over it.
Let's worry about more important stuff, like why we were so soft, gentle & weak for the first 1 1/3 quarters last night; why Boozer's big muscles are always breaking down and don't equate to toughness & rugged, intimidating play; why AK's defense is so overrated; and why Sloan is not properly utilizing his great young athletic players (Brewer, CJ & Millsap).
Oh, yeah, and Boozer lied to get out of Cleveland, and Fish left about 9 million on the table by leaving. Get over it.
