I think that David's character says a lot about the job his parents have done raising him. He would not be the sweet, happy, well-adjusted young man that he is if he were mistreated at home.
Maybe David was hovering on the verge of collapse because of the strep throat and pressure. His dad knew how deeply disappointed he would be to blow his chance on Idol and told him to buck up. If hollering at your child on a RARE occasion makes you a bad parent, a lot of us are in trouble.
As an aside, I was THRILLED to see how well David bounced back this week! I am a BIG FAN of this wonderful, talented kid!
For the record, I think he goes all the way. Wins Idol, becomes a big STAR! I can't wait to buy his CDs, see him in concert!
