popular vote | 5:49 p.m. March 17, 2008
The producers do release the vote to the contestants and family members. However they are not allowed to disclose the numbers. One of my close friends was just voted off the show. He told me that of the 37 million votes, David received 20 million votes. Scary, I know.

I LOVE THE POST WHEN SOMEONE SAYS THAT I AM A ACTIVE MEMBER IN THE CHURCHON THE POST. IF YOU HAVE TO PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE THAT, YOUR PROBABLY NOT. HE's NOT GOING TO MAKE IT AS A POP STAR BECAUSE IF YOUR A GOOD LDS PERSON THE DEMANDS OF THE INDUSTRY ARE TOO MUCH FOR THE NORMAL LDS PERSON WHO TRIES TO UPHOLD THEIR STANDARDS.WHO IS GOING TO BUY HIS CD'S OR GO TO HIS CONCERTS? HE'S LIKE 15 ISN'T HE? DON'T EVEN MENTION THE OSMONDS THEY HAVE HAD SCREWED UP LIVES WITH MULTIPLE DIVORCES AND WHATNOT. WHY ARE MORMONS INFATUATED WITH BEING FAMOUS ANYWAYS?
RE: OHH UTAH PEOPLE | 8:36 p.m. March 17, 2008
David Archuleta is a great singer and receives tons of votes. Just listen to the crowd after he sings. This also most likely means people will buy his cds and go to his concerts. I also don't think he's normal (in a good way!), so he just might be able to keep his standards. (Plus he's got a ton of LDS and non LDS people watching what he does). I hope this helps answer your question. P.S. he's seventeen.

I commend and admire David's parents', as they have done a wonderful job instilling David with the humility he continues to show the world. I just listened to a tape of David's vocal coach, Dean Kaelin, talking about David's last few weeks and all that has been going on and the comment that I heard loud and clear was that when David didn't do his best last week, he wasn't worried about himself-he was worried he let others down. How many 17 year olds do you know that aren't self-absorbed? Great job to David's parents and God Bless.

He is destined for greatness - American Idol or not.

It wouldn't be fair of me to speak of the Osmonds since I don't really know them personally. True, they have had their share of problems but I'm sure they are wonderful people and don't deserve any criticism for what they've been through.

However, in making the comparison between David and the Osmonds, David is living in a different era where the challenges of the celebrity lifestyle are better known than they were during the Osmonds hey-day, thus, he can be better prepared.

Also, David isn't the type of person who seeks fame. He does what he does because he loves music and loves to sing. For all we know, were he to be the next Idol winner, he could still end up going to college and having a non-entertainment career, with music/recording as a hobby. (After all, he is a straight A student.) Also, he has soooooooooo much support from music industry-wise people to help him along the way. Another credit to David is that he is more than just book smart, he is wise.

I think David will do just fine in life, whatever comes his way. He's an extremely impressive young man!!
Support David Tonight | 11:53 a.m. March 18, 2008
Word coming from Murray High students is that David doesn't know how much support he's getting from his hometown.

David needs to know how many people from Murray City are behind him and cheering LOUD for him!!!

I hope that Murray High will be jam packed tonight for the special David Archuleta night tonight. I hope the school can fill the auditorium and have overflow in the gymnasium and that the media will show David how many people support him. I hope Mayor Snarr can be there as well.

According to Brett, this starts at 6:30 PM tonight at Murray High School, 5300 South and State Street in Murray. SPREAD THE WORD!!!! LET'S ALL SHOW DAVID WE SUPPORT HIM!!!!!!

David has got fans all the way here in Hawaii! I sincerely believe he will go far in life regardless of American Idol. His humility is genuine which is a rarity in today's world. I find it refreshing to see David go against the stereotypes and be so confident with who he is as a person as well. You better believe that I will be the FIRST in line to purchase David's CD when it is released - and I hope he covers 'Heaven' by Bryan Adams on it! He is one of the few who can make you believe every word they are singing.

I was also very impressed to learn that David is an A student. He's got the brains to back up the talent. You always need an education to fall back on, and I hope he will find time for college. David will go on to touch many lives and I can't wait to see how his career and life unfolds :)

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or what? "Why are Mormons infatuated with being famous, anyway?"

When someone has an incredible talent it would be a shame to hide that talent. So we show our talents in order to bring joy to others, and to develop ourselves. Would you prefer that we all sit around doing nothing with our lives?

Yet by showing our talents, the attention comes...BECAUSE people love music and great voices, and all forms of art, and being entertained. And people recognize when someone has a gift. We celebrate that and fully enjoy it.

There just happens to be a huge talent pool in Utah because we take both interest and pride in developing our talents and helping our children to do so.

I hope that explains why you think "Mormons" are infatuated with becoming famous.

Go David!

I am a big fan of David A. sorry for the short last name, but I honestly can feel the young man's spirit. He has such a sweet voice. What a better missionary than this young man. He could be called to sing like Glaydys Night and her husband. They sing about the gospel too and that is a way of going on that missionary. The Lord loves music, think of the Tab choir and the Olympics and what was said, Sting wanted to take them along with him. Go DAVID.

I cannot stand him--Seems like a nice enough kids, but he bores me to tears and I hope he goes away SOON!!!
Now, I have a feeling this won't even get posted here. No we aren't all crazy about this kid!!! He should have done something with his winning Star Search than come on Idol for yet ANOTHER shot a stardom. Go away David.

I'm impressed that fame hasn't caused David to stray from his beliefs. Heavenly Father has given David his talent and all of his blessings so he should want to serve the Lord by going on a mission. There are places in the world where David wouldn't be well known and he could serve a mission there. There is always a way if he wants to and he shouldn't let money and fame stray him from those strong beliefs. Kudos to him for paying his tithing! I hope he stays as sweet as he is now.

Dear Brett and others who know the Archuletas: Please continue to convey our love and support to them. I've never watched AI before and got interested only when I heard David in the auditions. Since then, I've been following his progress and voting to support him. It's clear that he is the real deal and that his family has done such a great job in raising him and his siblings. To see such a wholesome, considerate, family-oriented, talented, sincere person doing what he loves so tremendously just warms my heart. Each week it's a pleasure to watch him and to see his family in the audience supporting him. Please tell his Dad that we don't believe everything we see/hear on TV, in fact, tabloids and trashy TV magazines are not what true fans of David would generally be reading or watching anyway...This article was so great; thanks to Grandpa for sharing and confirming what we already believed about David--such a true beautiful soul in/out. I would love to have the same kind of brother/sister spiritual relationship that he shares with Brooke. I'm glad he has all that support around him. Thanks again!!

We need someone like David Archuleta to win American Idol. I admire not only his talent, but his morals and values. He's kittens, puppy dogs and rainbows all rolled into one.

In my opinion he is a gifted child, a prodigy who will be a genius striving for perfection with his gift. We feel so close to him week after week and feel like we know him like as though he lives in our homes. My son age 10 who is a gifted violinist and a composer studying at the conservatory in CA wants to meet David A. When I replied that it may not be easy to meet him, my son replied that if he auditioned for NPR's from the TOP and becomes a little famous may be he can. LOL. We love David. Thank you JIM for the wonderful story about your grandson. I am sure you he made you and all of us proud. Pl have him take care of his golden voice. No antibiotics - only natural remedies. Thanks again.

I knew it even from the start that DAVID is the reason why the votes are up every night in AI that's why I'm wondering why he lost... any way great article... and david has the most nicest family I've ever seen...
