Oh, please! A good Republican needs to step forward to prevent this doofus from somehow becoming the face of local Republicans.
T-Buff | 5:21 a.m. March 15, 2008
I will be running for county mayor too..."THANK YOU!"
John | 5:30 a.m. March 15, 2008
While I think Carroon has dome a pretty good job (and I's a hardcore Republican!), this is a pretty biased hatchet job on Schanze.

While mentioning, indeed highlighting, all of Schanze's idiosyncratic (and even annoying) behavior you failed to mention that he was a very successful business man. And the photo you selected.... bet we never see any unflattering shots of the incumbent.

Let's leave the hit pieces on the editorial page and try to get a bit more fair and balanced coverage in what purports to be a news story.

Still, the entire notion of a Mayor Super Dell is a bit amusing.

Prove me wrong! | 7:41 a.m. March 15, 2008
I hope people aren't fooled by this self-absorbed, arrogant, dangerous, reckless person. Just because someone has more money than brains doesn't mean you should vote for him.

So Salt Lake will continue to be the nut capital of America? We endured Rocky for years but he finally retreated into the shadows somewhere and now this devil wants to spend the summer in the company of his angels -- don't blame me, that's what he calls the media and he wants to be boss. Why doesn't he fly south -- I mean, isn't that where the state has a hospital for such cases? Or are they full? Fly away -- far far away.

Irish AND Super Dell!?! This going to be the Best! Race! Ever!
Schanze?? | 8:08 a.m. March 15, 2008
What a joke. "It's too bad that all of the media in Utah are liars and murderers." Too bad the paper had to waste its time (and ours) by giving this guy a few more minutes of fame.

This is the best political news EVER....

sad | 9:51 a.m. March 15, 2008
Doesn't he realize what he's putting his family through with his increasingly embarrassing stunts? Dell -- think about your wife and kids for once and stop trying to feed your ego.
Chris Buttars & Super Dell | 10:28 a.m. March 15, 2008
The sad thing is that each of these will have lots of support for their far-right politics.

The face of Utah Republicans hasn't changed a bit; it's just coming out of the closet. If Buttars didn't have support for his racism AND his behind-the-scenes activities (critizing a judge for not supporting his friend?), he wouldn't be there.

I fail to see why Super Dell is any worse.
Anonymous | 11:03 a.m. March 15, 2008
The sad thing is Super Dell actually has a chance since he is running as a 'publican.
Anonymous | 10:59 a.m. March 15, 2008
Ha!! Heee! Ha HA!
Snoopy | 10:59 a.m. March 15, 2008
Most of the democrats in Utah live in SL county. That's why we never have a republican mayor. And I'm sooo glad the right wing mormons never get win. I hope Dumb Dell looses. This guy is a moron. It wasn't the media who made his business go down it was him. Are his in-laws going to fund his race too??
Gat Gat! | 11:02 a.m. March 15, 2008
Who do you think would be more pro guns, Super Dell or the Utah Legislature?
puh-leeez | 11:14 a.m. March 15, 2008
I am a Republican but I have nothing but scorn for someone who has so little respect for his neighbors and their children that he or she would constantly speed through a residential area. That is one of my biggest pet peeves and half the time the speeders are jawjacking on a cell phone.
Maybe that should be his number one public policy agenda: stop residential speeders ( I'm not talking about 3mph over the speed limit!) I'm talking about 45 mph and higher in a 25mph zone.
Peter Litvack | 11:24 a.m. March 15, 2008

This is the best james evans can do. If this is the bes james could do then it's going to be one of funniedt campaigns ever.
Stereotypes | 11:51 a.m. March 15, 2008
While I too have nothing but scorn for Dell, I have to say I am surprised by the hateful stereotypes revealed in the above comments. Dell is not the face of Republicans, neither is Buttars. The truth is most of us "right-wing mormons" are disgusted with both of them. Thanks for the judgemental attitudes though...
Kerry | 12:01 p.m. March 15, 2008
John --

He was such a great business man? You mean the business where his own employees sued the life out of the company before it collapsed?

The one that reneged on its own insurance policies after selling over-priced, under-performing machines?

Indeed. Excellent business.
A Non A Miss | 12:10 p.m. March 15, 2008
John: there is nothing amusing about dell running for office. He neeeds money to pay for his Beamer's... woops, reposesed vehicles.

The man is a 'laughing stock', which is why he is out of business.

His morals were displayed in his continuous press commentaries that made him more of a joke in his contempt for any who would speak against him.
jr | 12:21 p.m. March 15, 2008
Crazy Dell couldn't be any worse than what we have in the Legislature, I think he should run for Governor as Pete C is doing a good job. Crazy Dell you need to visit the white house in Provo
Val | 12:19 p.m. March 15, 2008
Man I thought that Merrill Cook running again was bad, but now Stupid Dell. I can't handle seeing him in commercials again. Or his picture on billboards. He is a moron. Why would he even think he would have a chance. No one likes him. What an idiot!
yo stereoype | 12:20 p.m. March 15, 2008
Your lot keeps voting these people into office, just look at the Legislative lot and tell us it does not reflect on your religious domain. They broadcast it to get the votes and then flaunt it to do as they please. Sad to say, many a good member do not support them but the vote for them because they are in the ward or stake and it is the thing to do. People need to really think outside the box and get rid of the stench within
If Buttars isn't the face of... | 12:32 p.m. March 15, 2008
Republicans, where was the organized protest that would have led to his resignation/ouster.

The very fact that he has pledged to run for re-election, tells us that he KNOWS he will win and that he's doing the right thing.
Does.... | 12:34 p.m. March 15, 2008
this guy ever get sick of trying to get media attention? Apparently not..........LOL!! God help us all.....
A few million Utahns | 2:26 p.m. March 15, 2008
Dell,
I am sure you are going to be reading what everyone is saying about you because getting others to notice you seems to be at the top of your priorities. Please note: YOU ARE NOT LIKED by 99% of Utah. The other 1% just moved in to the state and haven't learned about you yet. Just give them time and they will dislike you too.

Please, please, please do yourself and everyone a favor and just stay out of the public eye. It has been so nice not seeing you for this last little while. Why come back? Please go away again.

We also blame the media on your down fall. Because of them we had to see or hear your rants and mindless tirades over the years. They should have left you alone as a public service. Have you finally gotten the hint yet that countless people hope to never even think about you again? We just wish you and your ugly hair could get a clue.

Signed,
The entire state of Utah

Dell is an idiot, but this article was piece of work and is a joke that is today's journalism.

Why is this not on the editorial page? There was little news and LOTS of editorializing...

As big a as Dell is, the vigilantes that chased him down were lauded as heroes doing what they would crucify anyone else for. The three vigilantes broke higher laws of assault and then instead of ONE speeding car, we had four, three of which were driving more reckless than Schanze's.
That incident is EXACTLY what law enforcement should have been called for.

Dell's idiocy doesn't justify the Media and Law Enforcement's response to that incident.
hmm | 4:43 p.m. March 15, 2008
Dell,

I'm always amazed at the few (and I do mean few) supporters that come out of the woodwork for you.

The truth is, people who worked closely with you for a long period of time (I was one of your managers for nearly 3 years at TAC) know that over the years your misdeeds have grown more complicated, your lies more elaborate, and your ego-ever larger as you've faced defeat by puffing yourself up and lying to yourself and others about your position.

Make no mistake, you are not an honest man. I cannot judge whether you're righteous or not, as that's not my place.. but I know first hand, you're not an honest man. You lie, you deceive, and you confuse at any opportunity you'll get to make yourself feel better about yourself, or get some kind of gain for you or your family.

I urge anyone and everyone reading this post to seek out people who've known Dell personally for over a year. Their testimonie's of this selfish, self-centered jerk will let you know he's not worth your vote.

Regards,

Ex TAC Employee.
hey Randy: | 4:49 p.m. March 15, 2008
Can you point out ONE SENTENCE in the above story that is editorialized?

because after reading your comment i just went back through it and found it to be completely factual. No editorializing. And a list of his legal issues, which would be (and should be!) included in any article on any candidate for anything.

In fact that info you suggest be included IS editorializing.
@ Randy | 5:07 p.m. March 15, 2008
You're treating that incident like it was a one time deal. Evidently he had aggravated his neighbors enough that they reacted the way they did.... that wouldn't happen over one or two instances
Why would anyone want someone so self centered representing them. Just like @ Tot. Awesome Cmputers he sold the sizzle not a steak. We need "steaks" in Leadership positions.... not "sizzle"
CJ Guy | 5:33 p.m. March 15, 2008
No kidding! Does he really think that he will get any votes? May as well start congratulating Mayor Caroon on his re-election!
Jeff in Boise | 5:46 p.m. March 15, 2008
Plllllllllease! Not this idiot! Salt Lake is already the laughing stock of America, and this fool will only make it worse!
The Republicans... | 5:53 p.m. March 15, 2008
better do something, because this is mockery to them...
TMoneySLC | 6:05 p.m. March 15, 2008
Nothing makes you Republicans look better than Chris Buttars shooting off his mouth, Super Dell running against the ever popular Corroon, and Merrill Cook running against Matheson... again. Seriously, you guys should try to find some non nut job candidates every now and again. But, when GWB is the poster boy for your party, it's easy to understand why you're willing to take anybody who will adopt the Republican name at this point.
Glad to not by GOP | 6:57 p.m. March 15, 2008
I have to agree. I question why the GOP puts up the following to "compete" against good Utah Demos:

Cook vs. Matheson (hmmm...Matheson wins)
Super Dell vs. Corroon (NO brainer...it's Corroon again thankfully)
Buttars vs. multiple GOP and Demo contenders... (Any bets Buttars wins?)

Is James Evans asleep? Looks like a demo sweep in Salt Lake County this year. Hey James, call T-Buff and see if he is available. Maybe that PC Laptop guy could run. Call Workman...she'd run again for some office where she has access to the purse strings! What a crop of nutsy GOP candidates. These selections make the demos look better every day... I haven't even mentioned Curtis.

yay, more commercials with dell...time to drop my tv out the window
Tyler | 9:19 p.m. March 15, 2008
Noone with that bad a porn mustache should leave the house outside of living in Kearns
Just a Guy | 9:20 p.m. March 15, 2008
I just wish I lived in SL County so I could vote for Dell. Someone that isn't a professional politician looking to kiss up to special interest groups. It wouldn't suprise me if he does very well.
party on! | 9:39 p.m. March 15, 2008
You don't piss off the media if you want to run for office. That angels of Satan line is going to be dragged out in every story ever written about Dell.

What a fun campaign this will be! I hope everyone gets invited to the Corroon victory party, because SL County is just not that stupid.

And the Repubs can't stop somebody from filing. If crazy people (Cook! Schanze!) want to file, the party can't just swoop down and force them not to. All they can do is hope somebody sane files, too.
Goose | 10:04 p.m. March 15, 2008
The Repub are showing the Best they can offer.

Got to LOVE IT.

jealous | 10:53 p.m. March 15, 2008
You are all jealous because super dell is so successful and you are all losers. You are all typing like you are all the smartest people, and then you realize, you are typing on a Totally Awesome Computer!!!
Anonymous | 10:56 p.m. March 15, 2008
To Tyler:

What's Kearns got to do with Super Dell? He lives in some ritzy South Valley neighborhood. Remember his sorry interview on TV a year or so ago with his multiple flat screen monitors in his golden house?
john | 10:59 p.m. March 15, 2008
its terrible how he trashed on the media. I honestly believe they report the truth.
SJ Bobkins | 1:58 a.m. March 16, 2008
The half-life of a Utah narcissist seems to be much longer than those in other locals. Cook and Super, wouldn't be fazed by a a stadium full of folks who call them crazy. It's doesn't matter to a narcissist what people say about them, but that people ARE speaking about them. The number of comments here would likely have Super feeling ecstatic.

I can't believe the Republican party can't come up with a better candidate! First they back Lohra Miller who is making a laughing stock of the DA's Office by firing or losing 26 attorneys. Then we see them backing Dale who can't keep his temper under control, is constantly fighting with the media and likes explosives.
If he attempts to rent a house boat with someone in the AG's office or let his spouse go out for drinks with someone in that office, we can be reasonably sure he will get elected and be found "not guilty" of future inappropriate behavior when the AG's office investigates! What's happening to that party?!! I know there are still some good decent people in that party. It's turning into a Secret Combination group for the unqualified, impetuous and those with a Narcissistic Personality Disorders!
Rich | 7:50 p.m. March 17, 2008
I wish Enid Greene Waldholz would run, and have ex Joe campaign for her. That would give the Repubs the trifecta, with her, Buttars, and this dude who looks like he's overdone it with the steroids.
