I would hold my nose and vote for McCain if Romney were the VP. I think that McCain could give Romney some big assignments as the VP. For example,to get the economy back on track, solve the healthcare crisis, and get off of foreign oil...and Romney would find a way to make it happen. Romney is the only politician I know that when he says he'll get something done...he'll do it. He has the track record of success to prove it.

I think it would balance the ticket. I'm otherwise not a big McCain fan, but this would re-interest me in the race and certainly get me to vote republican. I hope McCain will see the logic of the M&M ticket. VP is the first thing I thought of when Mitt dropped out.

If it means keeping the left-wing Democrats out of power then YES any U.S. citizen with foresight and common sense should vote for a possible McCain/Romney alliance. They have valued experience and vast success behind them compared to Obama and Clinton.

I've been saying it all along . . draft Mit as VP. I've already e-mailed McCain's web site begging he do it so let's start a movement. With Mit, McCain can be supported by 2/3's of the political spectrum. Without Mit, McCain struggles with conservatives.

I like Mitt and all that but I think you would not only have to hold your nose but take a long hot shower with soap as well. The problem is the Re-lig-e-oso, Fund-a mental-ist. Will not vote for him regardless. McCain is 71 years old and people would consider it to much of a risk. Being 1 heart beat away from being President. However then again Nancy Polosi is only 2 heart beats away no matter who wins. That would be a sad and sorry day for America. I think that they would make a good ticket just not a winning one. Hawaii is going to go to Obama Regardless and of course it really does not matter because by then it is all over anyhow. I will Vote because there is so much to do at the Polls aside from Voteing for President. The greatest voter power lies at the lowest leval of public office.Voting for President, Several Million to 1. Voting small twon mayor maybe just a few hundard to 1, School Board perhaps less then that. At large City COuncil Men, perhaps even less. Power is diluted by Number.

The McCain-Romney ticket would heal the "hole" that Romney left when he opted out of the race and help McCain pull all of the parts of the republican party together. McCain has GI muscle to tackle the war issues, where Romney has Economic muscle to tackle the economy and other issues. I think it's a good fit. Here's hoping.

I am voting for McCain and when I do I will be holding my nose. The smell will not be near as bad if Romney is the VP. In four years Mcain will not run again and Mitt will be in position to become the President.

I've never voted Democrat in a presidential election. After McCain's treatment of Romney, I had made up my mind to vote against him, however if Mitt ended up on the ticket I would reconsider.

I would vote republican if Mitt were the VP nominee. He really didn't have much time to campaign on the issues as he spent so much of it attacking and defending attacks. When he finally spoke with conviction [at his suspended campaign speech and at the C-PAC speech] he won me over.

This is a big mistake for McCain and it would cost him any chances of an election. Romney is a liar and a cheat with no morals and has only his personal financial gain in mind. If this joining occurs it will give Hillary and Obama the upperhand and Hillary Clinton is definetly a no choice to be the head CEO of this country. The only real choice america is faced with is the leadership of Ron Paul, a leader who is not a CEO. This country is in dire need of leadership and not corporate management dictatorshiip that Hillary, Obama, McCain and Romney reek of. The U.S. has been at the mercy of CEO government for the last 20 years with the Bush's and Clinton and we can't survive any more of it. A major turnaround is needed with government for the people, not corporations. That only leaves us with Ron Paul who is not at the mercy or control of CEO america, that has managed to undermine and corrupt his campaign by controlling the news media.

McCain should immediately announce Romney as his running mate. That move would appease the talk show hosts and get McCain and the Republican Party the excitement and the rally it desperately needs.

Conservatives who are now luke warm at best on McCain would awaken and participate again if they knew that a conservative economic giant like Dr. Romney was advising McCain and waiting in the wings should McCain falter.

This could be good IF Romney is allowed to play an active role in the administration, as Cheney is. Problem: Commenter Steve is right and McCain is unlikely to give Romney much responsibility until he (McCain) gets desperate and needs Romney to save him from his own inexperience.

Romney is a bigger man than I am, saying he'd be honored. I actually think these two men would have a hard time working together. Things got a bit too testy on the campaign trail, and I know I'd really not enjoy working with McCain under any circumstances. His running mate will have to put up with a lot of garbage and sour temper. But if Mitt wants the job ...

I actually think McCain will choose someone else, however. McCain, with the liberal leanings he has, is going to be seriously tempted to pick a minority, to balance the Dems, who are going to have a black or woman at the top of the ticket, whatever happens. To McCain, that is going to be much more important than having an executive who actually knows what he's doing.

I think it is a wonderful idea to have Romney on the ticket. That way the evangelicals could stay home and work on attempting to debunk evolution. With out the alternative universe, right wingers voting, Obama-Edwards would be swept into office, leading our country into a new era of enlightenment.

Yet here we are, so desperate for a mormon social conservative in the white house we'd vote for Ralph Nader if mittney was on the ticket.

Ron Paul? Yeah... That would really push the Republican ticket higher than the Dems. Paul was basically laughed off of the stage at each debate. I can totally see McCain (the war guy) placing Paul (who ties every problem in the history of the US to the Iraq war) on the ticket. The only incremental votes McCain would get would be the measly 4% die-hards who voted Paul in each of the primaries.

I'd like to see Mitt as VP, but I doubt it will happen. I think McCain already signed a deal with Crist in FLA. Crist wouldn't be a horrible choice as he would help secure Florida in the General Election for the Republicans. Like Mitt sain in the interview last night, there is a long list of people that McCain could call that would be great choices as VP. With McCain no doubt owing a couple of favors to Crist, Huckaphonee, Lieberman, etc.; why would he choose Romney? I'll keep my hopes up because it would help shore up the conservative vote.
Does a VP really add value after the election anyway???

Romney came out of the race looking like an absolute creep who ran a race of negative tactics. He played everything including the race card (Poor Mitt the Mormon) against Huckabee - who ran a positive campaign.

Did you forget how much of his own cash he put into his campaign? What about his accepting the position with the Salt Lake Olympic Committee. The American people are starting to realize how phony absurd accusations and headlines are, and are educating themselves about who we want actually leading our country. You should try it! I am upset that the "pundits" are suggesting that McCain select a woman as his VP, only because the potential candidate for VP is a woman! Sen. McCain should select a PERSON who is highly ethical, energizing, conservative, and someone who has at least a few accomplishment in bringing about refrom. That candidate is Gov. Sarah Palin (yes I know, Palin is a woman).

It really is curious how Mormons rally around Romney more than any other group of people. Doesn't matter that he is a chameleon, as long as he's a Mormon chameleon it's OK.

It would be nice if McCain would choose a secular economic conservative for his running mate, though they have all but been run out of the Republican party. I'd vote for McCain.

But McCain is a flip-flopper too. A McCain-Romney ticket makes me think of pancakes, not M&M's. He was right when he criticized the religious right 8 years ago. Now he so blatantly panders to them. It makes me sick.

I think the only reason Evangelicals didn't come around as a group to support Romney (some individuals never would) is because they had Huckabee to vote for. With a McCain/Romney ticket, the Evenagelical vote would come along with the fiscal conservative vote and the millions who feel like staying home or voting for Obama would come back to the Republican side.

Kevin, when Romney bowed out, he was ahead of Huckabee in electoral votes, and was behind McCain in total voter count by less than 20%, with over 4 million votes to McCain's 4.7 million. McCain's lead in electoral votes was so large because Republican primaries are winner take all. That means if McCain gets 3 more votes out of 500,000 tallied, he carries all of the electoral votes for that state.

You make it sound like only Mormons voted for Romney, and we didn't vote for anyone else. There aren't nearly 4 million of us of voting age in the entire country, and I know some didn't vote Romney.

As for the chameleon jab, is that what you call anyone who changes his mind on an important decision? A chameleon or flip-flopper changes stance depending on the room. Kerry was a master at it, touting his SUV's to one group while denying they were his to another in the space of a week. Romney changed his positions after several years of experience and learning. I defy you to find anyone older than 20 who hasn't done that.

If McCain truly loves America as much as he say he does, then he should not deliver the country to the hands on an inept but rock star popular man like Barack Obama. Only Romney can pull conservative, independent and "intellectual" votes for him. Only Romney can silence a less-experienced politician like Barack on all issues particularly the economy. Having Barack for a president is unthinkable not only for Americans but the rest of the free world. His intentions are not clear, neither is his loyalty. He may be a good inspiration for immigrants, but things have gone so bad for the economy that inspiration is good but what America and the whole world needs is solution and Barack just doesn't have it.

Kevin... So there is a double standard. It is OK for some Blacks to rally behind Obama and some Women to rally behind Hillary and some Evangelicals to rally behind Huckabee, but you have a problem with some Mormons rallying behind a Mormon. That to me is curious. By the way a flip-flopper changes his mind and then changes back again. Romney never did that. You could argue that Romney flipped on abortion, but saying he is a flip-flopper is a fallacy. Romney is not a chameleon. He was extremely straight forward about what he would do for the country and outlined exactly what his plans were during the debates. That is how a good leader presents how he intends to manage. How many of our current Presidential Candidates have actually done this rather than making the race into an American Idol contest and spewing mysteries change rhetoric and clichï¿½s!

Obama has beaten Hillary mostly in traditionaly Republican states that will likely stay Republican in the general election. Hillary has incredibly high negatives, leaving only a few moderate swing votes needed in a few key states for Republicans to win. I like Mitt, but come November, McCain will do fine with whomever he picks (simply based upon the alternatives).

National Defense and the Economy. Those are the two most pressing problems facing our country. McCain is best for the former, and Romney best for the latter.

Neither Obama nor Clinton have the credentials nor experience to compare.

Clinton and McCain represent "status quo" in Washington. Romney represents change - new blood in Washington. There are a lot of people who would vote against McCain just for the sake of change. The problem is Clinton and Obama are not sufficient (or any) change! Romney is the best hope for change... still.

So now McCain has decided he's in favor of torture after all (voting against the anti-torture bill in Senate), he and Mitt can be cozy together at the top of the Torture Ticket. They can happily double the size of our concentration camp at Gitmo, listen politely to the screams, plow through our civil liberties, and continue the Hundred Years War together. Here's one example of Mitt Romney's high moral fiber. Smiling as he poses with the lady with the big sign that says "Osama Obama." Totally uncalled for actions in my book. I don't care if Mitt is my religion. I will never vote for a ticket with him on it. How could McCain who is against torture have a big torture fan on his ticket anyway?
