You can bet if these drugs are affecting the wildlife they are surely affecing the human population. Why do the state water quality experts have to wait for federal guidelines to establish water quality? Can't the state set its own standards? We have enough medical research facilities in Utah to make the recommendations and do the testing. These same drugs showing up in our water is being used in our food supply also. No one wants to admit that the decline of the health of the american people is related to our food and water supplies and choose to ignore it. Hormones and genetic tampering of food supplies should receive some major studies and investigations. These problems can't be ignored and the state has the authority to act on them and set standards on food and water quality. The issue of cost should not be used as an excuse not to do something, it's affecting everyones life.

They are so behind on the news. CSI used this as a plot several months ago.

The last part of the article is what scares me the most. Haven't we learned that introducing new species to fix an ecological problem only causes new problems. Any one familiar with the Colorado River corridor will use Tamarisk like a curse word. Instead of dumping in a bacteria how about we find a way to stop distributing so many durgs and a better way to dispose of them. PSA adds about not flushing your meds would be a good start.

Thanks for this Story, albeit many years overdue. But, I also smell something fishy. When stories like this get "released" on the public. There is typically legislation or regulation soon to follow.

I do hope the result of this is the best for society as a whole.

Where are all of the people who adamently refuse to belive that Global warming is false and who say that environmental degredation is a ploy by liberals to take control? This is another forboding finding that the environment matters.
