I had intense pain in my right wrist off and on for two years. Switching my mouse hand to the left helped a little. I am a database admin and used to work very long hours. The article mentions "..referred pain from trouble elsewhere, such as the neck".

I can emphasize how true this is. Since I am tall rolling my shoulders and head forward to look down at a laptop or computer monitor unknowingly forced by body to make adjustments from my neck down to my wrists. The pain thus showed up at the wrists. Now I am very careful about having good posture, getting good back support from my chair and not rolling my head forward. A good book is "It's not carpal tunnel". Looking back, I am frustrated at the money I spent on expensive keyboards and mice. I also have little respect for doctors who only treat problems like mine with pills.
