We have known Dick and Claudia for more than 50 years. They are both highly qualified and well grounded individuals, and the notoriety resulting from this excellent work has had no effect on how they view themselves. Dick is probably the most competent scholar in the Church when it comes to history, either religious or secular.

The book is brilliant and the timing of its publication is perfect.

I haven't enjoyed nonfiction this much since Shelby Foote came out with his Civil War series.

I have read most of the book and I find it great historically and as a witness of the humanity to the Prophet, it gives me new understanding as to his role which I believe to be Divine like that of Moses.

If I did not believe in the Book of Mormon or have faith in Jesus and His Church, then this book by itself would cloud my stance on his grand claims.

But I believe them and have staked a large part of my general modus operandi on their truthfulness.

Truth is a good thing and I hope we can all find time to accept that which we know and even the stuff that we don't, as Mr. Bushman alludes to.
