So, in order to get more money I have to go more classes, jump through more hoops, attend more conferences, and prove I'm better than my coworkers... what?

Or, I could just drive a few miles to the north and get a job in Wyoming and get a $10,000 raise.

Hmmm... that's a toughie!

Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico.... all these places treat our teachers better than Utah. I wouldn't stay here to teach. That is why I am a businessman in Utah. I pull down 150K a year but I would rather be a high school football coach and history teacher.
Let's face it.... we would rather gripe than stand up and throw the bums out of the legislature. We have a bunch of crooked Gadiantons in our legislature. They are very corrupt. I have dealt with them in business and they are evil and bad individuals.
It might be time to stand up and throw the tea in the harbor folks. Who is with me?

I have to agree with science teacher. How is this going to make Utah more inviting to prospective teachers? This sounds as bad as the previous plan to pay the teachers more for working all summer. Yeah, that was a real winner idea. I'm sure that got everyone wanting to teach in Utah. "Teach here, and you can make less, have huge class sizes, AND we'll also expect you to give up your summer."

Administrators controlling the money. That will work...they don't have their favorites, they don't have an agenda, they love all their teachers. In other words some teachers will never see that money no matter how many grants they write, hours they work or extracurricular activities they take on. All the while no accountability for those poor overworked administrators, they say and do whatever they want. Give them more ammo to bully and intimidate their staff, thats the ticket!! As a teacher try moving within your district when you get a bad administrator (They are there). Interview only to find out the position is already filled. Yes, politics as usual just KEEPIN EM DOWN. When administrators make mistakes OH WELL! Just promote them to the district office. No lines of accountability; it is called the good old boys network. It is there and it is real. Pay those friends and keep those nay sayers on the ropes, all the while promoting your administrative agenda!! With this new policy I can see future teachers flocking to Utah. Glad to see the legislature has it all figured out...they just love teachers here don't they!! I feel the love.!!

STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE. Teachers really should get their act together and throw one of those BAD BOYS.
