'Anti-American' wasn't best word choice, legislator says

she thinks the program is "anti american" and u.n.
but actually her thinking is "anti intelligent". and contributes to suspicion, mistrust and anger towards
america.

Senator Dayton probably just thought "international"
was a four letter word. You can never be too careful.

As someone who has just graduated in the IB programme and has earned the full IB diploma, I can definitely see where the senator is coming from. She makes a valid point, that I'm sure many Americans who have earned the IB diploma can agree with. I cannot honestly count how many times during the TOK course we were told how evil America is. I think we spent more time tearing apart the country then anything constructive. And while yes it's important to not blindly follow your leaders and government, I believe that America as a whole is not an evil nation and is equally responsible for a lot of good that happens around the world.

Additionally, it is worse than most of what the UN comes out with. Not only is it inefficient and ineffective, it is all too idealistic to work in the real world. I don't see anything wrong with the AP program, and wish I had myself taken it instead. If you wanted your kids to become arrogant, American-hating socialists you could send your kids to Europe and get that kind of "education."

Big things ahead. Next year the legislature will find a way to pass some laws to get us all back to heaven. Glenn Beck is right, we live in a nanny state.(He was referring to the U.S. Democrats and I am referring to Utah Republicans.)

These guys are so ready to condemn anything that doesn't agree with what they think they know, that the phrase "anti-American" is simply a natural response. Other words, like "liberal", "socialism", etc., are used in the same thoughtless way.

How often do people really buy this bull? I recommend that anytime you read/hear these words/phrases, get a specific definition of what they really mean by them. I wonder if they really know.

I thought outside influences were part of the benefit of education.
