THANK YOU to all of the politicians and organizations supporting this new bill! I appreciate the hard work of everyone who is working so hard to protect our children from this horrific crime. This should be an area where we are willing to put our resources and energy to get rid of this evil. There is no excuse to allow our children to be violated in such a way.

So what exactly is the purpose of this ad? To get the tiny fraction of the population that is into child porn to change their nasty ways? Or just to rile up the population against a problem that they're already plenty riled up against? I don't think there are very many law-abiding Americans that you need to convince that raping a small child is vile.

To me the fight against child porn is about like the fight against drunk driving--both problems are about as contained as they're going to get, and most additional laws and penalties are irrational, unconstitutional, or grandstanding by politicians. Or some combination of the three.

I would also like to add my THANK YOU to those individuals and organizations who are working to combat this evil industry! Any person who is involved in viewing, producing, etc. child porn should be severely punished! Any adult who participates in any form of harm to children is vile.

uncannygunman, well put... and rather pathetic, unless, of course, you're worried this will cut into what you consider 'entertainment.'

You're sadly mistaken if you think people are "plenty riled up" about this subject. Simply put, out of site and out of mind. People just don't THINK about this because it's not regularly brought to their attention.

Obviously the ad is made to get people's attention and hopefully generate funds and more aggressive laws to engage said crimes. No, the fight against child pornography is quite different from the fight against drunk diving for a myriad of reasons -- and frankly, your comments don't even warrant the list. If you find laws against child pornography and drunk driving so irrational, unconstitutional and simply grandstanding... well, again, it gives one pause as to what you do for 'entertainment.'

and for the record, I'm a democrat.
