Buttars says he'll run for re-election in November

The only thing more asinine and ridiculous than this idiot even daring to seek re-election is any moron who thinks it would be a good idea to vote for him.

Hey Chris, stop thinking about yourself all the time. Realize that for the sake of the Senate and, more importantly, the Church, that you are an embarassment and you need to step down.

You will lose your election, I assure you.

We live in such a hypersensitive world. This has been blown so out of proportion that we should all, including the NAACP, sit back and think about what we are doing to our discourse. Many statements, especially from baby boomers who spoke differently back in the day where statements had entirely different meanings than they do now, are grossly misinterpreted.

Why don't I hear this outrage when folks cuss and swear on a daily basis? That is far more offensive to me. Why don't we demand resignations when an off-colored or disrespectful joke is told in the workplace? It seems we are too wrapped up in speech that means little when other, for more offensive, is given a daily pass.

I, like most everyone else, do not condone hate speech, but this was not that. I say we all figure out what speech is really harmful and stop it in our lives. Abusive, ugly talk spoken to the ones we love most seems far more pervasive and less punished. In terms of what Buttars has said, we all need to get a little thicker skin.

This coming from Senator Buttars? He's sad that everyone was getting 'meaner' last week? Give me a break. He gives Utah a HORRIBLE perception.

He is obviously power hungry and has a bigger head than his mouth. Bigots, racists and stereotypical good ol' boys do not belong in government. If I made a comment like his at work I would be terminated. Send Mr. Buttars back to his 1700's plantation where he will fit right in. What bothers me most is the people who see nothing wrong with his statements. Shame on you.

My last name is Scott. If I called for everyones resignation that uses it in any any fashion other than a name I would have very little to do but be calling for resignations of politicions and radio announcers. The blacks complain their is to many of their people in jail percentage wise and want compassion and then to be so hard nosed against a person who made a simple mis-statement. Your glass home will be shattered.

Oh Please. Dosen't the NAACP have anything better to do.

Accepting apologies demonstrates class,builds bridges and creates opportunities to work together in the future.

Deliberately misinterpreting comments, taking offense where none is intended, and throwing your political weight around is the way to cement hatred and assure non cooperation.

We are not talking about what is important to a church Bob. Mitt assurred us that "the church" would not be involved in politics so let's not put the State's politics in a church. Buttars needs to go because his type of politician used to wear a sheet. When this story gets national, and it will, let's not give the national press another reason to connect Utah politics to "the church".

Anybody could be forgiven for saying a stupid thing or two. But Buttars has a long, sorry history of a mouth running with no brain. He's anti-science. He's anti black (or brown or yellow). He's anti-gay. He's anti-Gentile (love that word). West Jordan deserves better (at least I hope it does).

Buttars is an old war horse who does not comprehend that the world has changed around him. His opposition to minorities no longer fits.

As a Republican, I�m embarrassed to have him in the party. If he does not move on himself, he needs to be pushed out. I've already decided I'll financially contribute to whoever appears to be the strongest candidate opposing him if he runs again.

Please, can we have someone run against this man so he can lose.

This comment made by Buttars was simply in bad taste. Why does this country now tolerate the "Speech Police"? Freedom of speech is codified in the law whereas freedom from insult is not. I for one am continually insulted by individuals who forget their history. At one time blacks and gays were forbidden many civil rights. It seems that as soon as they get some rights they want to deny them to others. I have personally known members of the KKK. I was laid off a construction job because I was LDS and the management who were members of the KKK found out.

So I have little use for a group who cost me lots of money. However, during High School a group of blacks held and slashed me across the face trying to cut my eyes out. During the trial the NAACP lawyer got the criminal defendant off with only probation and paying a fine which he never paid. As you can see I have lost little love for either group. Even so I believe the NAACP now has the upper hand. They seem to be as evil and pushy as the KKK. Both groups should be shunned.

Even without this last blunder, he's done enough damage.
Didn't he claim that he was not going to run again? Didn't he say something about he and his wife serving an LDS mission? Why this turn-around?

It's a shame people don't get this outraged over the crappy legislation he always tries to push.

To "Come on.." and others who would excuse Buttars: I'm a dyed in the wool Reagan Republican. I share virtually all of Buttars' political views. But I was so offended by his statement. It was disgusting! He has to go! Buttars, this is not about your political enemies getting even. I am your political ally. But Mr. Buttars, this may come as a surprise to you, but, pssst, there are plenty of others who can carry on in your place. Life can go on without you. Let somebody step in who isn't prone to making racist comments. Oh! I get so mad every time I think of what Buttars said. BUTTARS, DROP IT!

This would be a good test for the people of Utah. Would they really re-elect this fool? Let's get someone in office who doesn't think it's his duty as a public servant to make people's lives miserable.

If Senator Butters's remarks were considered as having been aimed at Mormons would you be "hyper sensitive?"
Our legislators condone this conduct and I think they like having Chris say the things they'd like to say, but don't. Shame, shame.

Chris, in football this is called piling on. Apparently you have upset the teams. Both teams are piling on. Not a good sign politically.

That is an indicator that you should resign. But we live in a free country and you can run and find out if your local constituents approve. That could be enlightening...
