I didn't know we had two Utahns in this competition. This is wonderful.

OK, I have to say it, please indulge me, for those that don't like a Utah newspaper who's reading population is largely LDS, with that said. How awesome is it to see two LDS kids in the final group in this show and two in the top 24 on American Idol. I think that so many people think that Mormons still have plural wives or wear all black and drive in a buggy, this shows how talented, and likable the LDS youth in the church are. I am proud of these kids and hope they do well on the show. Thanks for indulging me.

Non-story. Not to burst bubbles, but no one outside the church cares that Mormons are on these shows. And why do we care what others think anyway. I don't care if the sewer pipe of Hollywood likes Mormons. Their opinion of Mormons doesn't ever cross my mind.

Mariel is my favorite on the show! I had no idea she was from Utah though, that's great!

If you don't care why read the article? I think you care, but hate to admit it! You even took the time to make a comment!

Tonight I heard yet another story about the Catholic church, I really wasn't interested, but oh wait, I am not in Utah!!! So the news about how it will be the first time in 70 years that the Catholics will not be able to celebrate St Patrick's Day because it is a rare time of being during Holy Week. OK, actually it was interesting and I never new about things like that growing up in Utah, and I will probably not wear green, cause I am too old to worry about that. So Anonymous, I could say that no one outside the Catholic church cared about that, and I don't in the same way they do, but that is their news in their area, so for you in Utah who get annoyed in hearing about Mormon news, get over it. I could have a hissy fit and be childish about all the news about the Catholics, but that is the prominent religion in this area and they have a right to talk about it, isn't that freedom of speech? An I could have muted it, or fast forwarded it, just like you Anonymous could have done, not read this article.
Thanks, MoJules | 5:41 a.m. Feb. 18, 2008
Thanks for pointing out that in other places, it's the dominant religion/culture/ideology that makes the news because it IS the dominant interest.

Reporting about Mormonism in a Mormon-dominant society isn't unusual, just as reporting about Catholic happenings in a Catholic-dominant society isn't unusual. The DesNews is published in Salt Lake City, for crying out loud! What do you think the papers in Rome and the Vatican City focus on: Judaism?

Good luck to the performers from Utah!

Believe it or not, there are Mormons outside of the Salt Lake Valley. The only way I get to hear LDS News is read the online versions of Deseret News and LDS News. I for one truly appreicate reading these types of good-news stories about people of my faith. Even located WAAAAAAAY out here in Indiana.
The Gospel is true here, too.

Hooray for mormon celebrities! The hard part is staying true to what you believe while in the light! I hope that they can remember what it is they stand for
