I suggest you Neocons get some psychological help to address your intense anger and hatred. You all sound like raving lunatics!
Life is passing you by Neocons.

Let's see the church asks for compassion and gets what in return?

It wasn't worth commenting on, the church should learn when to keep it's collective mouth shut.

You're adding fuel to a fire that goes on forever. Let the rabble sort it out.

There have been a couple of comments referencing the woman caught in adultery, where Christ said, "Go thy way and sin no more". To use that comparison, the Church would be saying, go back to Mexico and sin no more. They're not saying that.

There have also been references to the fact that the Church didn't specifically state their stance, on one side or the other, but from what they did say, there was some "Understanding" they hoped legislators would have. Thats just being sneaky and devious, and should be above men who claim to represent God.

The hatred today's conservatives have for their fellow man is truly astonishing!
Talk about leaving a group of people behind in the dust.

I am seeing so many double standards in religion these days that it makes me sick!!!!! I am wondering if there is any truth in any religion whatsoever? Even though I have always been a FULL tithe payer and live a righteous life. Including living the law of the land. I am FED-UP!
Show me some COMPASSION! and not a BUNCH of LIARS!

There are roughly 85 milllion people in a country the size of California. Go back to what? Like it or not they'll come here until things change back down there and the change down there is not going to happen.

You can post and argue all you want, the problem is not being solved. Annex, the dumb place and let the developers go south and build something down there that is more permanent than what they have. They have no clue how to do it. They think sending drugs our way is the solution to their economic problems and we guillably accept their drugs. We're part of the problem. Stop making religion your guilty party of choice. This is dumb.

I have No compassion for law breakers. Prevaricators abuse religion in the name of God, is no more than heathens in sheeps clothing. God knows who you are and he will be the one who judges all Liars, and he will judge them quite harshly!

It is amazing to me how hateful people can be. I served an LDS mission in California where I spoke Spanish and taught immigrants from central and south America. I met a lot of people over 2 years and there was only a hand full that I felt were not a good addition to the community and country. Bridging this gap of misunderstanding and language has instilled in me a love for Latin people and a realization that this country would be far worse off without their kindness, work, faith, and love.

I hope none of you speed. I hope you always stop completely at a stop sign. I hope you report every dollar of income on your income taxes - even the $5 you earned for baby sitting once. And if you don't - the law and its officers should have no compassion on you.

Yes, it's breaking the law, but you're living in a glass house. Make better avenues for legal immigration and kick out the real criminals, by all means, but overstaying a visa or crossing the border for a better life doesn't make a person evil and undeserving of compassion.

Congrats to the church who has voiced something more in line with the core values of Christianity - charity and and compassion.

Sarah Kay, you have no idea what you are talking about. Do you know that a bishop and stake president cannot give a temple recommend to an illegal.

Your reference to justifying illegal behavior because we all sin is ludicrous and is devoid of sound logic. If we extend such irrational thinking what you are advocating is this....since we all sin let's justify all sin.

An illegal deserves compassion but he also deserves to go home. These are not mutually exclusive principles.
Mitch van Biljon | 7:55 p.m. April 29, 2008
Jake, for a returned missionary you sure do not do honor to the position. Heck there are millions of good folks all over the world but we do not encourage their illegal activity now do we. You seem to have difficulty in distinguishing good people and the need for the law to be applied to these good people. Sadly you also ignore that there is a cost being bourne by others.

I served a mission in the UK and loved the English people, does that allow me to justify illegal activity of the English who may be here illegally?

The good additions are the legal immigrants. You seem to think that people who oppose illegal immigration are hateful. You sir if you believe such tripe are an idiot. But then again if you use the word hate it has emotional connotations and a few may be fooled with such nonesense. You are a small minded and frankly ignorant fool if you truly believe what you just said.

Liberal means freedom for all, your moniker is a reflection of your lack of judgement. Freedom is built on the premise of law and order. There is no freedom when we ignore the laws of the land. Instead of peace we have conflict, instead of order we have chaos, instead of stability we have unrest.

You have no idea what the word liberal means and the accompanying responsibility that comes with it. Your words show who the lunatic is, who the extremists are. Your words reveal who the hater is, who is intolerant of an opposing view, who is the extremist.

Your use of the word neocon when referencing those that oppose illegal immigration belies your fascism. History shows who is the intolerant and it is not the conservative. I seldom see conservatives use hateful speech as you so liberally do.

I had a chat with my Stake President about the issue of illegal immigration and he was very clear on church doctrine. The 14th article of faith applies period. No illegal can get a temple recommend period. The fact that soem bishops and stake presidents assume members are legal does not mean tha church does not have an applied policy. Some leaders such as Elder Ballard may push for education for illegals certainly undermine church doctrine but that is his personal opinion not church doctrine.
Mitch van Biljon | 8:14 p.m. April 29, 2008
Obon, your belief that illegals will continue to come here is true only if the states allow it. Oklahoma, Missouri and other states coming down hard on illegals is having a wonderful result....illegals are leaving these states. This is a good thing. Illegals moving to states that are accepting of illegals will simply in time bring about a backlash from residents with new laws being passed. Over time all states will have laws that are hard on illegals and hey presto they will leave for the south on their own accord. There is no need to round them up, but hey it is possible with local law enforcement being granted the freedom to do so. All we need is to send the message they will get no employment, no benefits and no right to driver's licenses.

It is really simple to achieve and current events in states that have passed tough laws prove it is working. A further benefit is a reduction in unemplyment again as evidenced by developments in Oklahoma.
