Jimmy will be surprised if the Mavs/Nets don't find a way to work out the trade, unless the real reason for its failure is sellers remorse on the Mavs part. To make the salaries work, they could always just include Keith Van Horn in a sign and trade, to make up the difference in DGeorge, and although Cuban said he doesn't want to spend the extra money, he may be beyond the point of no return. How many of his guys would want to stick around and play for him after already trying to be dealt.
Jimmy hopes it goes through, because although it makes the West harder this season, it makes Dallas much older. Phoenix has already gotten older, and the Spurs, with the exception of TonyP, are getting older on their own. This means that in a year or two the Jazz, along with the Lakers, will have an easier run through the west. Of course there will be young upstarts like the Blazers, but the Jazz will be the team with the experience once again.
Go Jazz!
I have always really liked Ben Wallace but he is on the downside of his career while AK47 is on the upside. I don't think Big Ben can produce anymore for even the Bulls. O'Conner is thinking ahead. Jazz will dominate the NBA after the next couple years. They are young and will only get better. Phoenix and Dallas are getting old and thinking now before it is too late. I hate the Lakers and wish them the worst. Mitch Kupchack is the Isiah Thomas of the west. This is really the only good thing he has done for the Lakers. Gasol is an injury waiting to happen though.
Lakers might not be so lucky.
GO JAZZ!
Didn't Memphis just do that in giving away Gasol?
If there is a big man role player that becomes available then we should get him but we should not trade any big pieces because chemistry is good right now. Chemistry is worth as much or more than big name players.
Shaq will likely not work in Phoenix and Dallas is brain dead if they think trading all those players for a old slow point guard will get them over the top. The Laker trade for Gasol is likely to work for the better and makes them top contenders.
All that said it would be hard to beat the results we have gotten since the time we acquired Korver--whether it is all him or not. Our trade may turn out to be the best of all.
Deron Williams
Kyle Korver
Shawn Marion
Carlos Boozer
Mehmet Okur
I'm really dissapointed that Larry Miller didn't pull the trigger. With that line-up, I think the Jazz would have been one of the favorites to win it all THIS year.
It hurts to think about what could have been.
Oh well, we can always dream right?
