Recycler | 9:48 a.m. Feb. 12, 2008
In Oregon we have a s m a l l garbage can and unlimited recycling bins. We are charged $17.50 for garbage pickup but if we recycle we get $1.50 deducted, leaving a remaining $15.60 bill. I rarely fill my garbage can but my recycling bins are overflowing as most things can be recycled. So basically I am penalized if I dont recycle and think I am getting a deal if I do. Works for me. I just set the recycle bin outside my kitchen door and chuck stuff in there all week. I am a serious recycler now, feel great about my nonimpact on my little corner of the world. It is really hard when I visit Utah to throw glass, cans, paper, plastics etc into the garbage to see it carried to a landfill. We are moving back to Utah and I definitely will continue to recycle.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
