I'm a Rep and would vote for him | 6:40 a.m. Feb. 12, 2008
I'm a conservative republican, but I grew up near Boyd McAffee. He is a top-notch person -- the type of person you can trust. He was my scout leader for years and was the best leader I ever had. He helped many many boys earn their Eagle. There were over 10 boys that received their eagle at the same time as myself due in large part to his efforts.

I'm a strong Republican, but I'd vote for him if I were in his district. I've known him for many years and trust him explicitly. He has proven himself over and over in many different settings. Besides the extremist, far-right wing delegates that terrify our legislators need to be shook up! The Republicans would be better here in Utah County if we had one or two Democrats. Vote for McAffee!

So is Brad Daw supposed to be the sacrificial lamb for the republican party? Just because you don't agree with how a party has run, does not mean you vote out a candidate. Just as people say "I vote for the person, not the party", yet they are voting for McAffee, not Daw, because of Daw's party. No where did anyone say there were unsatisfied with Daw. I actually think he's done a good job up on the Hill. I've been able to meet with him and give my opinion on things several times. Very open.

I don't know anything about McAffee, so I will like to learn more. But follow your own logic and evaluate all the candidates.

"I think we should be thinking more about voting for people rather than voting for a party," said Wayne Crabb, who has served with McAffee on the board of directors for Alpine Credit Union. I would agree with Wayne if it weren't for the fact that when elected they follow the party line, no matter which party, and that is why democrats can't get elected. For example, on the illegal immigration issue now in the Utah legislature, Republicans have voted both sides of the issue, while democrats have yet to vote in favor of one of the bills designed to help stop illegal immigration in Utah. Democrats have even vote in favor of continuing ID fraud in Utah.

I don't live in his district so I really don't care.

I am definitely supporting Boyd McAffee because I know him to be absolutely honest in listening to people, respecting their viewpoints and needs, and because I believe he will represent our district well. He will follow what people want, NOT any one party line. We need new people with established records of integrity and vigor to represent us.

Brad Daw is a great American and represents the Republican party well. What you're seeing in Utah county is a bunch of people tied to the education establishment trying to salvage the backlash of parents that hate Investigations math and have been pushing for school choice, vouchers, charter schools, and stronger education.

If I had known my cousin was running I would have campaigned for him.
Sincerely,
Richard McAffee
