Congratulations Jared! What an 'absolute' amazing acomplishment. You sound like a one in a million kid. Your parents must be so proud. Stay focused/grounded in all you do.

There was a student from Alta High school, Garn Smith, that had received similar acolades a few years back. I believe Garn also scored the highest in the SAT as well.

Great job guys!

Congratulations Jared! Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to take on next. Although from the sounds of it, you have the work ethic and determination to achieve whatever you set your sights on next and luck will have less to do with your success than your hard work and moral character. Way to go!

Glad to see this young man is taking courses through SUU. We would love to have him on campus in Cedar. Regardless of where he chooses to go, best of luck to him and his future.

waste of money | 2:39 p.m. June 17, 2008
So the kid tries 5 times to get a 36, when with a 4.0 he could have probably gotten in to BYU with a 30? The kid and his parents should have saved their money after getting the first score. Perfectionists like this waste their time and money while life passes them by.

"this kid" earned $115,000 in scholarships. If he had stopped at just a 30, he would have received roughly $20,000 in scholarships from BYU and others. I'd say 4 extra times at a cost of $30 each payed off. $120 extra invested with a payoff of $95,000? Sounds like a good economic investment to me.
