Instead, you make PERSONAL attacks on his detractors.
Way to go.
You sloan lovers still haven't explained why we never won with stockton/malone AFTER Jordan left the league, why he plays hart, lets rookies languish their first year, and generally is abrasive to all.
In my opinion, the Jazz are a good team (lately), but not a "great" team. They're not dominating anybody. I doubt the Jazz will ever win it all but I'm OK with that. If you need to win it all to enjoy the competition and the franchise... you need to be an LA fan.
There is also the concern of a replacement. Are there any decent coaches out there that will not turn us into the nugggets/warriors. By this I mean defensive minded, team oriented, but likes three point, no thugin allowed, and will play price. And I do agree the price is right. Bottom line is I like 85% of what Sloan does and stands for. To me not being the nuggets is almost just as important as winning.
I'm smart enough to know that and I defer to his understanding of the game. He sees the players in practice and from the bench during games. You and I watch on TV or maybe on occasion from a lower bowl seat. He knows what plays they're supposed to be running and he knows when someone isn't pulling his weight. The rest of us can only guess because we don't know what's said in practice or during a timeout.
Maybe that's why he doesn't turst rookies. Plus, I don't think he let Paul Millsap languish during his rookie year, do you? Millsap played because he kept his mouth shut and did what he was told. Williams didn't have that same attitude the first part of his rookie season. His college coach finally set him straight on that issue.
Once again, I think you have trouble with authority figures.
Please tell me, what part of his 40 years experience is having hart playing instead of price?
Note that: "... compliment your team ..."
Now I don't know if you're playing dumb or really are dumb. Your little sleight-of-hand to reject my comment (and others) by referencing only your other paragraph about Hart is pretty lame.
You said it. Be man enough to own it. As far as I'm concerned you can own it by defending it or by backing away from it - either way, I don't care - but not by pretending it doesn't exist.
And saying they came close does not matter. the facts are they were never good enough to win a championship.
The jazz don't have a bigman and they don't have a jordon either.
All the jazz have done is gone on a little win streak. similar to the one that had to start the season.
It doesn't mean they are now world beaters.
It just means they are in a better position to make the playoffs.
The jazz management have so much as admitted they are not trying to win chamiponships, they just trying to have winning seasons, and just hoping if luck goes their way maybe they will luck inyo a championship.
Still 25 years of making the playoffs it hasn't happen. While other teams have won mutiple championships.
The facts are the facts.
They may be a better offensive than the nineties team but at the price of defense. so it's a wash.
The so called "true" jazz fans can hope all they want and fantasize all they want. the facts are: It will not happen.
- Roo for a team (like Utah or Phoenix) that are perpetually competitive year after year but never win a championship?
or
- Root for a team (like Miami) that is absolutely horrid except in one magical year when everything clicks and they win a title?
The facts are that there are 32 teams in the league. In the last 21 years, only six teams have won the title:
Chicago (6)
LA Lakers (5)
San Antonio (4)
Detroit (3)
Houston (2)
Miami (1)
All have had periods of being among the worst teams in the league.
By the way, only 12 other teams have appeared in the finals, 8 of them for a one and done and only Utah, New Jersey, New York, and Portland made two appearances.
That means 40% of the league has never even been to a finals and 80% has not won a title.
So with all those stats, how do you answer the question above? Every year exciting? Or one good year that is forgotten five months later when the new season starts?
"That's the thing with Reggie, he will milk a player if they've got it going, that's a good thing," said Salmons, who finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
