I am generally a Republican. However, I have never voted a straight Republican
ticket. I vote for the person who best exemplifies what I believe and think is
best for the country regardless of party affiliation. I have never voted for a
Democrat for President up until now. However, I cannot with a clear conscience
vote for McCain. I do support the war but I don't agree with McCain on many
other issues and I don't believe he is conservative in any sense of the
word. I cannot, however, vote for Obama. He does not pledge allegiance to our
flag and if he won't put his hand on the bible at his swearing in, he
doesn't represent what I believe we need to lead this country. While I
don't like the Clintons and what President Clinton did to the integrity of
his office, I'm afraid she would be the best of the bad choices we may be
facing.

With Mitt Romney out of the race the people in Idaho are not going to go in lock
step and vote for McCain. Idaho is the #1 state for the consevatives but things
are changing. President Bush is a disaster with his 2 trillion dollar no win
war, no energy policy, the sinking dollar, etc. The Idaho people see McCain as
the problem, not the solution. He is a wacky liberal just like Hillary, and
Obama. Those 3 Senators are all cut out of the same mold and are being paid
salary, perks and retirement pay for missing a years work in the Senate while
campaigning for a new job. Our only choice in Idaho is to not vote for a
President or do a write in. Mitt Romney was the only candidate that had the
experience in a real job in the private sector and was capable of turning around
the mess we have in Washington, but he was defeated because of his religion.

The Democrats will bankrupt us through their continued "socialistic"
programs. The McCain (& sad to say Romney)--we must police the world at all
costs--will bankrupt us even faster (the terrorists can beat us quite easily
economically without ever having to fire another shot).

It wasn't the question -- it was the way and place that is was asked, by
someone who already knew the answer, and who knew that it had absolutely nothing
to do with the office of President.
Huckadean was trying to paint Romney as a nutcase in the minds of all of those people who don't know any better.

What a sick campaign slogan "Hold your nose and vote for McCain." Come
on republicans. You've got McCain, and Hillary or Obama to choose from.
Seriously study each candidate before you hold your nose and vote straight
republican. Research this important issue of who to vote for for yourself.
Don't be told by talk radio or a political party how to think. I am an
independent and LDS and upon my own personal research, given the chance I will
vote for Obama.

I've known that for years, too. It is all about context, though. Huckabee
knew what he was saying, and he knew how most Evangelicals/Baptists would react
to it. He acted very innocent, but he said it in a way that would be taken very
negatively, and he did it for political gain.

knew that the Utah mormons discriminated against the Utah minority's
presidential candidate named Mitt Romney. Instead of "exact same" you
should have said "similar." Yes. Good thing we all can rely on reason
to resolve our problems. Let me apologize on behalf of my fellow Mormons, but at
the same time, I doubt there's really that much malicious discrimination
out there. It's mostly just what the majority wants that tends to shape
things. Not the had of the church, but rather, the thousands of members who live

McCain is almost a perfect candidate for me, but I've been a little put off
by his actions with Huckelberry against Mitt. I'll either vote crazy for

Compassionate conservatives!! What a joke. The fiscal budget takes a hundred
years to get to $1 trillion, and Conservative Bush sees the budget go to $2
trillion, then $3 trillion. Illegal immigration seems to double, earmarks grow,
and a war that is a mess. I'll take an honest democrat who believes in a
balanced budget and is at least truthful about their social liberalism. Luckily,
democrats still believe in regulating the predatory capitalists and war mongers.
I continue to believe in the constitution, smaller government, peace, and fiscal
sanity. I wish I could find a political party that does.

you make is that you're letting others make decisions for you by actually

if the final ballot is Obama vs McCain, for the first time in my life I'll
vote Democratic. if the final ballot is Clinton vs McCain, for the first time
in my life I'll place a write-in vote. there's little McCain can do
between now and November to change my mind, his records speaks louder than his
recent words. guess we'll have to wait until November to see if others
stay true to their votes in a poll today.

It is a long time to the election and a lot of things can happen which my
influence final decisions. Who knows someone may get hit by a car or have a
heart attack, we might even have a Romney / Edwards race.
Some things that may happen internationally that we have little control over. They could certainly influence the outcome, as could what is happening in our economy.
I am fiercely independent and will vote not by political party (state, local or national.) I will vote for who I feel can do the best job and leading us where we should go.
I guess I still fall in that "undecided" column, or maybe it should be called "wait an see" column.

I don't understand why "liberal" is such a dirty word here. Some
people would die in UT before voting liberal. Seriously, why is that? Clinton
was liberal, Bush was conservative. Yet look at the records. Under Clinton,
laws were passed, budgets were balanced, and taxes were not raised sky high.
The country's morals didn't denigrate under Clinton anymore than they
have under Bush. I'm not necessarily pro-Clinton. But really that
"liberal" did a better job that the holy conservative.
Bottom line is that McCain and Huckabee don't like Mormons. Yet Mormons will vote for them because "liberal" is a dirty word and are compelled to vote red. I cannot for the life of me understand it. I vote based on person, not by party. And I don't led buzzwords like conservative and liberal sway my judgment. Especially when you consider that Greenspan notes that Bush is more of a fiscal liberal than Clinton was.

I really don't understand. Mormons make such a big deal about preserving
the constitution and you have one candidate that supports the constitution
100%--that is Ron Paul. You couldn't say that about Mitt Romney. Forget
the politics, vote for the best man. That man is Ron Paul. Remember the lesser

I am a republican with integrity and I saw my party on National TV engage in
what some people think only Democrats display - sleaze. When I watched McCain
and Huck play with the delegates and collaborate so Romney would not get the
delegates he needed in a winner-take-all state, I knew how I would vote in
November. I will vote Rep. for House, Senate, Governor, etc. but at the top of
the ticket I will either write in Romney or vote Democrate. If the House and
Senate stay red then the Dems won't pass all those big packages anyway. On
the other hand, McCain and Huck will get what they richly deserve - the biggest
presidential loss in American history. I live in the South and if you think a
minister can't "sell his birthright for a mess of pottage" you
just watched it on TV. Great speech Romney, but we're not lining up behind
McCain. Sorry.

You must be kidding! It's comments like that which hurt our church's
public image. Who on earth ever told you that. I have not heard it once
preached to me. And for the record, I am a Mormon in good standing and I am an
independent. I have never claimed party affiliation, I vote for who i believe

Why do intelligent people get their information on candidates from anonymous
emails? Obama does say the pledge of allegience. I've seen video footage of
at lest 3 different times. Do an internet search. He said in a debate that he
was sworn into congress with a bible. Who knows why he didn't put his hand
over his heart one time. I know I've been distracted and not done that once
or twice. I've seen footage with his hand over his heart. Get your

No it is 90% all mormon vote that makes us look silly. Huckabee has stood his
ground for what mormons believe in. He may not have the exact same thelogy
beliefs but with his stands and his commitment to missionary work I think
Huckabee if he was mormon would have won over the faithful. I have a friend who
was a missionary in Arkansas many years ago that knew Mikes church and he was
very friendly to the missionaries.

WILL NOT vote for a man that I truly believes hates me - BUT are people serious
about Obama???? The man is an empty suit and reminds me of Mussolini in his

many.(Benito was NOT Adolph) I will not sit out the election but I also will not

1. William H. Taft- Voted out in a landslide after one term.
2. Herbert Hoover- His economics led us into the Great Depression.
3. Richard Nixon- Any questions?
Candidates with some of the least political experience:
1. Franklin D. Roosevelt- Served one term as a state senator (sound familiar?). Was the only president to be elected 4 times and helped defeat Adolf Hitler.
2. John F. Kennedy- One of only 2 presidents elected from the Senate (again, sound familiar?). Anybody heard of the Civil Rights Act (enacted post-mortem)? The Cuban Missile Crisis? The Space Race?
Experience does not make the man. Of the 7 military generals elected president, only Eisenhower was really great. Ulysses S. Grant may have been the worst in history. The other 5 were considered marginal.

Writing in Mitt or voting for McCain, Obama, or Bilary won't matter a hill
of bean. The electorial college elects the pres. and that is the way it should
be. It is called checks and balances. The founding fathers set it up so that
the peoples voice was the House of representatives. The Senators were to be
elected by State (once removed from the popular vote) to represent and protect
states rights. (that was since changes by one of the amendments). The President
was to be lected by the electorial college, twice removed from the popular vote.
You can kiss your states right away if the popular vote elects all three
branches of government. Do you want single mom with 4 kids by 4 different

Ron Paul is the only Republican that can defeat Hillary in the general election.
He voted against the war, she was for it. He'll lower taxes dramatically,
she will try to get more donations from the active duty military than the other
candidates combined. Hillary has received the most money from the weapons
industry and lobbyists.
Utah will go for Ron Paul, but we need more people to really make a sincere effort in finding out who is running to make this country a better place and who is running for their own personal gain.

Finally! With Romney out of the way and all the irrational thinking gone, now
Utahns can get on with making a rational decision as to who they will now
support. McCain is too slippery for most Mormon values, as are Clinton and
Obama. So it's really a sort of three sided coin toss. No doubt about it
though, if Obama is the Democrat nominee, Utah just might break ranks and
actually throw its electoral votes to Obama... which might be in the Utah's
better interest than many might be willing to admit.

A strong case can be made that FDR's policies PROLONGED the Great Depression and that it took the war to get us out of it.
People remember the Myth of JFK - this man manufactured at least 15 "crisis" during his term in office - including the missile crisis, and let's not forget the Bay of Pigs. He was vehemently anti communist, but not anti-socialist. He got us fully involved in Viet Nam and his inaugural address was full of the type of militaristic jingoism I'm sure you would strongly object to. All of this done to pull the US together (Including the Space Program - which I strongly support); again, some of his methods were not unlike Mussolini - or Hitler.
I was a Mitt supporter, but Ron Paul is right - He really IS the only TRUE Republican in the race.

As lifelong Republicans, my family will not support McCain. Can you imagine the
contrast of 72 yr old McCain against 40 something Obama? Didn't McCain say
that we would be in Iraq for as long as 100 years? What a mistake the Republican
Party has made. McCain is all about the past. Huckster and McCain have both
engaged in overt and covert religious bigotry. If Huckster (the champion of the
national sales tax) is the VP candidate, we will likely vote for Hillary. The
devil that we know is better than the devil we don't know. Obama's
suggestion that he would meet with the Iranian and North Korean leaders
demonstrates his inexperience and naivete. By my measure, Hillary becomes the
least of the worst. She is more conservative than McCain.

Ultra-Conservatives like Romney believe in a two-tiered morality for society
� one for the
�masses� and one for the
�elites� � which,
conveniently enough, always seem to include themselves!
There�s nothing they like better than to sit around on
their not-inconsiderable behinds and tell other people to go out and fight and
die in wars that they would not for a second get personally involved in.
Because, you see, it�s good for the 'little
people'. Builds character and backbone. And war also presents many fine
punditry and scholarly opportunities for themselves, as well as marvelous
opportunities to brush aside those inconvenient and pesky notions of
�democracy� and
�civil rights� that the little people
insist on yammering about. Not to mention that the warmongering (which they have
no need to physically participate in, thank you!) is their method of choice to
establish the United States as the lone superpower in the world, with the rest
of the world our cowering subjects.
