Ron Paul is still an option and the only one that actually addresses the root of the both problems. It's still not too late.
He is right of Clinton, who is right of Obama, BUT
still way left. His record proves it.
What to do ?
Huckadean was trying to paint Romney as a nutcase in the minds of all of those people who don't know any better.
This was taken right out of the Clinton playbook. I wonder if there's something in the water at the Arkansas governor's mansion . . ?
Some say that Ron Paul is crazy. He's not. Its obvious that he's in it for us, not him. Have you looked at what he stands for? Do some research. He has consistently voted for YOUR RIGHTS and will not be swayed. Ron Paul is the only honest candidate. He certainly has my vote.
Some things that may happen internationally that we have little control over. They could certainly influence the outcome, as could what is happening in our economy.
I am fiercely independent and will vote not by political party (state, local or national.) I will vote for who I feel can do the best job and leading us where we should go.
I guess I still fall in that "undecided" column, or maybe it should be called "wait an see" column.
Bottom line is that McCain and Huckabee don't like Mormons. Yet Mormons will vote for them because "liberal" is a dirty word and are compelled to vote red. I cannot for the life of me understand it. I vote based on person, not by party. And I don't led buzzwords like conservative and liberal sway my judgment. Especially when you consider that Greenspan notes that Bush is more of a fiscal liberal than Clinton was.
Can we all just look at the facts and vote that way? Would it kill the people of UT to ignore traditional party lines and vote for the best person? The word liberal is not as scary as you've been led to believe.
And would John Adams rather our country go bankrupt fighting all the countries John McCain would like us to fight in? Personally, I'd rather we go bankrupt meeting our own people's needs, especially health care, education, and cleaning up the environment.
As an aside, many of the Brethren do not divulge their party affiliation. But I do know that Faust did--Democrat. So what are you saying? He was not a good Mormon? I'm not sure where you get your information, but it appears to be not from the church. It's your opinion and nothing else. What a slippery slope that must be for you.
Barack Obama? I like that he has a nice family, and that he's young and energetic, but for what? He supports abortion, gay marriage, bigger government, I just don't want to....
John McCain? Just don't feel right about him, he seems like a sleazebag with his marriage record, not higly moral, I guess he's a war POW, though not my hero to be honest (dirty tricks with Huckabee to knock off Romney, who I thought was o.k.).... I just don't want to....
Who else???? Is voting for the lesser evils still good? Which one is the lesser one?? What a hard decision... I will pay very close attention to this one, because not voting at all would be plain stupid, and voting for someone not on the ballot just as dumb.....
ABSOLUTELY. He's been anti-Mormon at least since he spoke at the Southern Baptist convention here in SLC a few years ago.
At least with Obama, you know from the beginning that he's dangerous and to keep an eye on him. He won't get an inch past you without a fight.
If McCain wins, he'll be a mile down the road while you're still trying to figure out where that knife in your back came from.
John McCain's character is as full of holes as a mile of 8-foot-high chicken wire.
1. William H. Taft- Voted out in a landslide after one term.
2. Herbert Hoover- His economics led us into the Great Depression.
3. Richard Nixon- Any questions?
Candidates with some of the least political experience:
1. Franklin D. Roosevelt- Served one term as a state senator (sound familiar?). Was the only president to be elected 4 times and helped defeat Adolf Hitler.
2. John F. Kennedy- One of only 2 presidents elected from the Senate (again, sound familiar?). Anybody heard of the Civil Rights Act (enacted post-mortem)? The Cuban Missile Crisis? The Space Race?
Experience does not make the man. Of the 7 military generals elected president, only Eisenhower was really great. Ulysses S. Grant may have been the worst in history. The other 5 were considered marginal.
The Mormons are mad because Huckabee & McCain played dirty. So they're anti-Mormon. But Mormons are anti-gay. So if you think it's ok to be anti-something you don't understand, expect a little of that back from time to time.
Whatever happened to the days of letting people make their own life choices? I would never consider an abortion, but is it not Satan's plan to deny others that choice? The same argument goes with alternate lifestyle individuals. So just because Obama or Clinton think that people should have freedom to make their own choices (including their own mistakes) does not make them evil. It makes them similar to Romney before he became characterized as a flip-flopper.
Utah will go for Ron Paul, but we need more people to really make a sincere effort in finding out who is running to make this country a better place and who is running for their own personal gain.
Hillary will try to squeeze as much taxes out of us as she can. Ron Paul has received the most donations from active duty military than any other candidate combined.
bottom line: McCain has no change against Hillary or Obama. Americans want to end the war, they definately are not going to vote for Bush on steroids. Ron Paul is the republicans only chance.
RE: Least Experienced..
FDR implemented many of the same programs Hitler & Mussolini did - In fact both of these men (along with Stalin) admired FDR's ability to create socialist programs and make CHANGE. A strong case can be made that FDR's policies PROLONGED the Great Depression and that it took the war to get us out of it.
People remember the Myth of JFK - this man manufactured at least 15 "crisis" during his term in office - including the missile crisis, and let's not forget the Bay of Pigs. He was vehemently anti communist, but not anti-socialist. He got us fully involved in Viet Nam and his inaugural address was full of the type of militaristic jingoism I'm sure you would strongly object to. All of this done to pull the US together (Including the Space Program - which I strongly support); again, some of his methods were not unlike Mussolini - or Hitler.
I was a Mitt supporter, but Ron Paul is right - He really IS the only TRUE Republican in the race.
