Uh, Hillary a socialist? You must be kidding. When has she ever called property ownership theft? Her health plan is merely free-market liberalism, giving money straight to the insurance and pharmaceutical industry. Please, look up socialism before you embarass yourself by calling a free-market liberal (when did she ever denounce capitalism??? I must have missed that one) a socialist. We patriotic American socialists have a problem with that.

So, it troubles you that an LDS presidential candidate would have the kind of conservative social values that would appeal to social conservatives?

We are not talking Ronald Reagan as his opponent. We are talking about McCain, Huckabee, Hillary and Obama.

I'm sorry that you don't understand this. Me, I'm and active "free thinking" unaffiliated (independant) who voted for Obama, and I'm surprised that the number is only 90%. I was figuring about 97-98%. I could not really see any LDS person voting for Huckabee.

But, hey, there are LDS Ute fans out there, so who understands anything.

Utahns 'rallied' for romney?
How about 'slavishly fell all over ourselves to vote church lines'? Or as we like to say here, voted for the right man for the job.
There are some things coincidence can explain. For everything else, there's Utah.

Is it November yet?

Since GOP registration in Utah leads Democratic by about 4-1, and since the state's million or so registered independents aren't likely to be radically different voters from their Republican neighbors, I must conclude that, all the threats to vote Obama notwithstanding, the candidates will take a hard look at the Beehive state and do what they've been doing for a long time - staying away and spending no money in Utah since it's too one-sided. This, in turn, will cause Utahans to complain that they are being ignored. "It's not fair!" will be the cry again come November, but the votes will comfortably go to McCain once Rush tells us how evil Obama is.
How sad!! | 11:04 p.m. Feb. 6, 2008
Utahs support for Mitt equals only Utahs support for Bush............... How sad is that!!!!

Who else is there to vote for besides Romney. The conservative political and talk leaders are right. Only a vote for Romney can save the republican party. McCain has more scandals than Hillary and he is a tyrant. He has no values. Huckabee is ignorant and a bigot. Romney is the candidate who has a better education and qualifications than any candidate that we have had run in decades. McCain didn't even win the conservatives in his home state. He won less than 50% of the vote in his home state.
I am a Democrat | 7:03 a.m. Feb. 7, 2008
In Utah and I'm not going to move....(at least not in the near future.) since I have many family and friends and people I love. But, it is interesting (like being an outsider looking in). I get to watch as Utah, (although slowly) faces the reality of the real world. A Democrat will win the 2008 election. This is not at all the first time this has happened. But never has it happened this way. It seems that although Democrats and Republicans have had a little rift in the past, but now it's almost as if "Republicans are good and Demo's evil". Let me assure you: I am a good, Jesus believing person and I am a moderate Democrat!
