Mourners pay respects, show love for President Hinckley

It was said:"You will recognize them from their fruits"...everyone
that has listened to President Hinckley wanted to be a better person...Those are
great fruits!!

WE WILL ALL IN THE LDS CHURCH MISS HIM. HE WAS A WONDERFUL LEADER AND A REAL MAN
OF GOD. GORDON B. HINKLEY HAS GOIN HOME. AND I KNOW THAT HE WILL BE GREETED BY
ALL OF THE SAINTS THAT WENT ON BEFORE HIM.

He was a great person, and was loved by all, he will be greatly missed but still
greatly loved

I will miss President Hinckley's great example and especially his sound
advice and encouragement. I was privileged to sit in personal interview with him
back in 1959 when he was an Assistant to the Twelve and I was seeking to return
to the mission field after sustaining health problems. What he said to me
greatly helped me with my testimony and be successful in facing problems
throughout the rest of my life.

Beautifully written article, Carrie. So happy that President Hinckley is with
his sweet Marjorie and parents. So sad that we will no longer see him at
General Conference.

Our returned missionary was just home from two years in Brazil when his neck was broken in an automobile accident. President Monson who was in the hospital that night, came to his room and gave him a blessing of healing and comfort.
Because of the crushing nature of the injury, all of the skills of the physician were brought into play. He later spoke with our family telling us he felt divine direction as he lay in bed the night before surgery considering how best to align the bones, and that it had proceeded exactly as he had planned. The hospital administrator noted in his opinion, that without the blessings of the priesthood that young man would have been paralized.
Shortly after a young family member who knew the Hinckley�s grandson told him what had occurred.
�Oh, I know all about that missionary�, he said. �My grandparents were at our home for dinner this past week, and we all knelt and prayed for him.�
President Hinckley, prophet of millions, had knelt with his wife and family in prayer for our son!

Hinkley was a good person who helped a lot of people. It seems to me that
Mormons should be throwing parties in celebration of his life and
accomplishments instead of crying. I don't think anybody especially one
who helped so many would want so much sadness to come from the end of his life.
Smile, be happy, and enjoy all life. That I am sure is something he would wish.

He will be sorely missed. But how wonderful how he gave his all until he left
to go to Marjorie. I am sure our Heavenly Father said, "Well done, my
son." I have met President Hinkley on two special occasions. While my
husband served in the military, we met him in Germany when he visited the
Conference held in 1966 for the military. I asked to take a picture of him, his
wife, Marjorie and a daughter. The other was in the Joseph Smith Memorial
building when he was a counselor to the President. We met him as we got off the
elevator up two floors. My husband and I with two friends stood there staring.
He came right over and shook our hands and said, "You look as lost as we
do", meaning we were not sure where the reception was being held. It made
our whole evening. I will miss him.

How I wish I could be there in person. I only saw President Hinckley twice in
my life, once in the church administration building as he busily passed by like
a whirlwind. That was in 1979. The next time was in Council Bluffs in 1997 at
the Iowa School for the Deaf. He was there for a celebration of the Mormon
Battalion. He always loved to honor history and the dear saints who gave their
all for the early church. As he rose to speak, he made the "I Love
You" sign for the deaf in the audience who were there. It was almost
audible, the joy they had when he made that sensitive gesture to them. I know
he loved us all. We were so fortunate to have him as our dear Prophet. I pray
for his family. I know they are comforted but that they, and us, will miss him
dearly. On a personal note, I love you too! God be with you till we meet
again. I can't wait!

I was selfish to wish that the miracle of President Hinckley would endure with
us until the millennium. I now realize that he would want to be with his
sweetheart, and I am content to cherish his memory.

Truely one of the greatest men that ever lived. I will miss President Hinckley
and know that he is with his dear wife that he has missed. Thank you for
teaching me to be a better person in all that I do. I am a better person

We are converts and we're truly grateful to be a part of this LDS family.
Pres. Hinckley is the only prophet whom we all were able to listen to in those
years since we were baptized into the Church. Pres. Hinckley's,"Way to
Be" book has been very inspirational to our children. We all cherish deep
in our hearts Pres. Hinckley's GREAT example to all of us. We will surely
miss him... We love you Pres. Hinckley. God be with you till we meet again!

I loved President Hinkley. He was truly a great role model for everybody. Even
though he has passed on his influence will always be with us, and we will
remember him as a truly wonderful and amazing man.

President Hinkley was the president of the church when i gained a testimony and
when i lost it. I certainly have mixed feelings (mostly ill) towards the church
now, but all of my feelings towards president hinkley are good. He was a great
ambassador for the church. He will be missed.

Wonderfully written article. I am lucky enough to work downtown and was able to
go over to the viewing right before lunch. It was such a sweet experience. I
cried when I saw the card display written by his grandchildren. I have always
emulated President Hinckley and only hope that I can be one one-hundredth of the
man that he was. God be with you 'til we meet again my brother.

I am a convert to the LDS Church, baptized in July of 1977. Myself, my wife,
and two of our three children had the opportunity to attend the 150 anniversary
of the saints coming to Council Bluffs, Iowa (I forgot the year, it was like
1995 or 1996). President Hinckley attended and spoke on that special Saturday
afternoon. I was standing in front of the stage, and I took a picture of
President Hinckley. He looked straight at my camera, with a smile, and a
special twinkle in his eye. After I returned home, and I had my film developed.
After examing the processed photos, I started to cry when I saw the photo of
President Hinckely. That photo was special since he had that certain smile and
twinkle in his eye. The picture turned out all so clear. There will be many
memories of President Hinckley, and now he his wife his beloved wife, and
Heavenly Father. So, dear President Hinckley, this is not goodbye but may
Heavenly Father be with you 'til we meet again.

We will miss Pres. Hinkley's wonderful optimistic outlook on life and
people. You could not meet him or even just hear him speak without feeling the
warmth, love and kindness he had for everyone in and out of the church. Pres.
Hinkley was a very humble man who loved God. His love for God and his son Jesus
Christ was evident in everything he said and did, how he lived his life and how
he treated others. It is a bit easier to say "farewell" for now,
knowing the sweet reunion that is taking place on the other side...especially
with his sweet wife. Pres. Hinkley was a great strength to everyone in the
church and those outside of the church as well and will be greatly missed.

Although I never met him personally I felt like I knew him. He has been such a
great example and I truly love him. I loved his humor and wit. I looked
forward to hearing him speak at Conference. He always made me smile! He had
such a love for all people, and had such a positive attitude about life and
showed so much compassion for others. He also had amazing energy to get the
work done. When he would speak, you felt like he was talking directly to you,
and you could feel such a sweet spirit. I'm rejoicing for him because he
is now with his sweet wife who he missed dearly. He will be greatly missed!

I remember right after I graduated high school I went out to Utah with a couple
friends. We attending sacrament with a friends aunt. Shortly before the
meeting started I felt overcome with the spirit, next thing I know President
Hinckley was right beside me walking from the back of the chapel to the front.
We had no idea that he would be there. The spirit bore witness to me that day
that he was truly called of God to be a Prophet, no words had to be spoken, just
the spirit he carried you knew, and you knew he loved you. I will always be
thankful for that experience.

President Hinckley was truly a wonderful man. I will miss him so much. He is the
only prophet so far that I have seen and listened to. That is because I was born
nearly thirteen years ago, and I have never heard any other prophet speek. I
remember when My dad and my brothers went to a mens' conference to hear
them speak, and I was so jelous. I wished that for that night, and that night
only, I could be a man, because I wanted to see the "President of the
church of Jesus christ, of latterday saints. But, even though I have never seen
him in person, I will still miss him so much. And with the comments I have read,
I can see that many people care for and love him so much. Thank you, and God be
with you untill we are able to meet again.

Ever since I heard of President Hinkley's passing, I've been drawn to
this site and the poignant messages of a man who lived a life that all
Christians should aspire. I've spoken with Missionaries in the past and
started to read the Book of Morman, but what seemed to be important work issues
always got in the way.
But something amazing has been happening over the last few days. I'm still tired at the end of the day, still have many things to do, and yet the glimpses into the remarkable life of President Hinkley have me turning to the Bible and the Book of Morman, praying more.
I'm not sure where this journey will lead me, but already I feel even closer to the Heavenly Father in a way I haven't since I was a young girl with all the simple intensity of a child's faith.
Thank you President Hinckley for bringing me closer to God.
But something amazing has been happening over the last few days. I'm still tired at the end of the day, still have many things to do, and yet the glimpses into the remarkable life of President Hinkley have me turning to the Bible and the Book of Morman, praying more.

President Hinckley we love you and we are so very grateful to you, we have felt
your spirit many many times, you truly have been the prophet of our time. We are
so happy for you that you are with your dear sweet wife, we know the heavens
welcomed you with great excitement and love. We will truly miss you. You have
left us with so much, love, inspiration and a heartfelt desire to truly live as
our Heavenly Father would want us to. We felt of your spirit so very strongly
today as we walked through the conference center, even as you have passed
through the veil, your influence is still felt so strongly. Thank you with all
our hearts for all you have done for us, the church and the world, how very
blessed we all are to have been taught and inspired by God's prophet in
these last days. We love you and truly are so very grateful to you and your

What a wonderful prophet was Gordon B. Hinckley. I wish that I could always be
the way he asked us to be, just a little bit better. Maybe in memory of him, we
could all give a bit to the PERPETUAL EDUCATION FUND. What a legacy that would
leave in his name! Remember when He said, �The way before
us is clear, the need is tremendous, and the Lord has pointed the way. . . . Let
us open our hearts, let us reach down and lift up, let us open our purses, let
us show a greater love for our fellowmen. The Lord has blessed us so abundantly.
And the needs are so great." (Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign, Nov. 2001, 54)
Thank you, President Hinckley for inspiring me and giving me many good memories.
Thank you for serving so well. I hope to share with others what you kindled in
me.

I grew up watching and listening to Pres. Hinckley. I saw him in action many
times, running almost. But yes, he was still smiling. I knew that he loved us
all, when he said he did. Pres. Hinckley, I love you for teaching me to love
all. Those sweet words spoken at times when needed. The desire to follow you
because my heart told me so. I could go on and on. Now I am running, and I am
working at smiling besides. You are one of the greatest men I will ever know. I
love you Pres.Hinckley.

It offends the Catholics how you mormons have to portray and compare this to
when Pope John Paul died,millions upon millions including NON Catholics mourned
the Popes death.. I dont exactly see millions outside of hinckleys viewing, go
youtube the Popes viewing if you want to compare religions. The Pope was A TRUE

President Hinckley will forever be remembered as a great and wonderful man and
prophet of God. His example, compassion, endurance, service, and testimony of
the Savior Jesus Christ has strengthened me and I will ever cherish having him
as our prophet. Thank you President Hinckley for all that you have done.
"We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet!"
