I wish Huckabee and Paul would drop out of the race and allow the voters to
really decide who they want to represent them in November. It seems ridiculous
that a candidate can pick up so many early votes in somewhat big states with
only a 27 or 30% portion of the overall vote. This is especially problematic in
states like Florida, which awards 100% of their delegates to the so-called
"winner".
It appears to me that Huckabee will stay in long enough to deny Romney the chance to pick up the conservative voters who would never support McCain due to his past support of non-conservative policies.
If McCain gets the nomination, I will have to re-consider my support for the Republican party. I've felt alienated by a lot of Bush's policies (big spending, support for amnesty for illegals, etc...).
Based on how the party establishment is treating the more conservative members (Romney, Paul, Tancredo), it really seems that the conservative wing is being disenfranchised. I would be willing to vote Democrat during this upcoming election to send a message to the Republican leadership that they are not representing me anymore.

This debate proved that McCain has the ability to look at a lie and turn and
give you three reasons why it is true. He is the slipperest eel since Bill
Clinton slimed onto the scene.
Some of the backroom deals he is cutting with his fellow politicians like Huckabee, Guiliani, Crist, and Swartzaneger are especially troubling. Each of these clowns has been promised something to betray principle and throw in with McCain. Don't you just wonder what he has promised each of these people? Huckabee, Guiliani, and Crist have probably been promised positions within a McCain administration.
McCain owes a lot of political debts and we the American public will have to pay them if he is elected. Romney owes no such debts.
Romney is the only person who has run since Reagan who would be as good as or better than Reagan.

Anyone who has a long enough memory will recall that Senator McCain called the
money for the pre-Olympics work on I-15 "pork barrell." This coming
from a man who represents a state with some of the finest federal highways in
our country. I wonder which Washington insider voted for those Arizona highway
funds? Perhaps Senator McCain, from Arizona?

I was also a supporter of Senator McCain for President. I am no longer.
For some reason I looked the other way when he stood smiling beside his mother while she vilified Mormons.
I cannot look the other way when he lies about Governor Romney's position on time tables for withdrawal in Iraq. He raised that point in a timely manner to let the lie hang in the air so he, Senator McCain, could win military votes in the panhandle of Florida. He is disingenuous, he is a lier, and our Governor supports Senator McCain who is using such tactics. It was the worst kind of dishonest, Washington insider politics.

barrelling which has spent us into record deficits. When retirees receive
drastically reduced Social Security benefits because our taxes are going to pay

Mitt did a great job tonight. I have always been a McCain fan until tonight. He
has twisted the intent of what Governor Romney was saying regarding timetables,
as he was grasping at straws. I thought McCain was more honest than this. McCain
has flip-flopped on many more issues. There is a LONG way to go and Mitt is
still my choice. We are lucky to have someone of his brains and calibre to run
for President.

I really feel sorry for our country to think that McCain could be our
President. I will not vote for him. He is so sure of himself. And I didnt
like his snide, rude comments at the debate last night. Romney looked and
acted like a Presdident. I am proud of him for taking McCains remarks and
proving him wrong. I like Mitt Romney, even though I don't agree with
everything he says. he is nearest to being a President that we have running in
the race on either side of the parties. WE may not get him but I will vote for

McCain is a mean-spirited, lying old codger who loves to play on the usual
sympathies voters have for war vets. Romney and Huckabee are far more qualified
to be president. I'd rather vote for Barrack or Hillary than McCain because

Romney is smart, strong, confident and has America's best interest at
heart. Every one of these candidates have changed thier minds on issues over
the years but McCain insists on portraying Romney as the only one who has done
so. And since when did stating facts about a candidates record become an
'attack'? McCain outright lied about Romneys record last night and
Romney categorically corrected McCain on those lies. McCain looked bad last
night.

If you want to save the country, the USA, vote "RON PAUL" for President. John McCain and Mitt Romney support the presence of illegal aliens and open border policies for the illegals to penetrate and victimize the American people. Ron Paul is the only candidate that wants to reagin the soverignty of the United States and also put government back in the hands of the people, not a business owned government that we have had for too many years. We are seeing the results of business in control of government and the economy, now we need some real leadership and backbone in government that we can get with RON PAUL at the helm. He is being backdoored by the news media and political manipulation because he stands for the people which none of the other candidates espouse, democrat or republican.

It's really a shame that the American people have decided it's okay to
vote away someone's liberty. I'm still amazed that so many are sucked
into the mass delusion that it is just for one man to take the fruits of another

I will never understand why McCain thinks he has a right to put words in
Romney's mouth. Why can't American voters see what a crock this man
is?

The McCain-Romney square off last night reminded me of a basketball game late in
the contest. (Huck and Ron need not apply anymore... they can go sit on a
bench). McCain has taken the edge, the lead, and has decided to make Romney
play his game: national defense, support for more war, etc. Smiling, ducking,
running. Lieing. McCain has the ball and he does not want to give it up. He has
old "MO" on his side.
You see this when a team gets ahead by a few points and then changes their game to keep the ball, wait, patiently wait for the other team to foul, etc. Wait for your opponent to make a mistake.
Is Romney powerless against this new strategy? His adviors know that he is in trouble. So look for a hard foul, or a couple of 3 pointers to try to catch up. Coming from behind is very difficult on the political field of basketball.

I have to admit, I used to be a fan of McCain. But I have not appreciated his
tactics of late, trying to twist the words of Romney. It's unbecoming and
almost childish. Romney took some shots earlier and he's paying for it now
but he never came across as a puerile miscreant. I could have voted for McCain
before but my vote is now going to Obama. I'm too liberal for Romney but I
respect him and appreciate what he could have done.

McCain and Romney need to start talking about the issues. I already know how
they feel about each other and the "lies" each have told about each
others positions. What I want to know is how are they going to fix the
infrastructure, how they are going to address the growing number of people
without health insurance, how they are going to address social security, etc.
If they keep it up and then continue it when they are facing a Democrat, I will
vote for Obama. There is no way to know where he stands either, but at least he

Hillbillary will win the nod for president. the Deathstar machine is up and
running and the rebel forces have no idea at the publican premises. McAint will

I think those movers and shakers who are behind McCain, have agreed to pay
Huckabee's bills in order for him to stay in, with or without
Huckabee's knowledge---just to keep Romney from the nomination.

Romney governed in the most liberal of the states. He has executive experience,
McCain does not. McCain was not straight talk with his answers last night, why?
He has no clue about the economy, he did not offer new ideas about expanding the
economy, or formulate fresh ideas about getting the country out of this
recession. He simply is narrowminded, his answer was disappointed and the Dems
will devour and slap him for his lies and ill tricks if he gets the nomination.

'correcting' McCains lies last nighton any of the stations. The night
before the debate on Hannity and Colmbes Chuck Norris (Huckabees cheerleader) on
and doing nothing but trashing Romney as a flip flopper and accused him of
trying to buy the White House. No issues were debated. And THAT was on Fox!
Its worse on the main stream media outlets. You better believe the Democrats

Romney has clearly stated differences between him and his opponents. I think
that makes McCain feel insecure. He's so defensive about the so-called
"attack ads" that he feels that he needs to return and make personal
attacks on Romney. I can't see a man with his lack of tack and self-control
or with his pathetic sarcasm in the white house. Well, I guess I can if we want

Romney on the other hand is very impressing. He shows that even though he's getting the heat from all the candidates, that he can handle it with exceptional composier. He's stong under fire, and I think he has the leadership skills to run this country. He makes plans and sticks to them. He doesn't give up. He's smart.
I just hope that McCain isn't the front runner for the race. We would be in serious trouble if he were elected president.

I've always voted republican; but if McCain gets the nomination, I will
vote for Obama or not vote at all! I am tired of politicians! Romney seems to
be the most upfront politician in a long time. I am also tired of the media
giving unequal time to the candidates. The broadcasters need to report the news
and quit giving their opinions...yes, I am LDS, but that is not why I support
Romney. My mother is not LDS; but supports Romney too!

Let's face it. McCain lied, causing Romney to defend himself. McCain has
nothing to offer except his old unaccomplished experience as a Senator. He did
help with the surge...For that we must be appreciative...It works. Is that
enough for us to see through his lack of presidential ability? Come on! Romney
has a thorough background to get the job done. He's had to battle the
press and his competition. Jealousy! Night and day you torture them.

First let me say I support Romney because I am a fiscal conservative and I think
he is the best economic choice. However, McCain is not a bad alternative for
the Republican party. You all talk like it is always a conservative vs. liberal
battle. I disagree. The vast majority of us are somewhere in between. McCain
is not a liberal. He is a consistent moderate who will support some issues by
leaning to the right and some to the left. Everything is not just black and
white. Complex problems require compromising solutions which can work for both
sides. The most important thing is to find people who can get work done in the
polarized Washington environment. I think Mitt could, but I know McCain can. I
hope Mitt wins, but I can support McCain if is the nominee.

endorse him, should I? I am an UN-AFFILATED conservative;I will vote for a
Democrat before I would vote for Mr. Romney and it has nothing to do with
religion.

Well it comes down to it that Sean Hannity was actually putting on an act to make a point about how badly American will be heading if McCain gets the nomination.
His overall point was that the true conservatives need to be stronger than ever in order to keep our country headed in the right direction.

You so called "conservatives" who will vote for Obama over McCain show
how irresponsible you can be if you don't get your way. Rather than
maintain some balance of power in Washington, you would rather hand control of
Congress and the White House over to the democrats if your guy can't get
the nomination. That will really help your cause. A lot of damage can be done
in four years, so keep up your stubborn and unforgiving stance and you deserve
what you will get.

By stating that you are a fiscal conservative you are implying that you are a
social liberal, and as one brilliant conservative mind once noted that you
cannot be a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. They are a contradiction
of terms. The I am somewhere in the middle philosophy (Centrist) is the one
currently implemented in Washington. These liberal light policies are the cause
of complex problems because they do not recognize the fact that the true nature
of legitimate government is limited. Conservatism is the mandate of freedom and
liberty. Anything more or less than this leads to tyranny and misery for all.
John McCain has adopted this philosophy along with the majority of the rest of
Washington. Let the state of current affairs stand as a witness of that
philosophy. All liberal or liberal light (Centrist) philosophies fuel the fire
to destruction to a slower or faster degree, but it is inevitable that our
freedoms go with it in direct proportion.
