U.S. flunks Indian 'accounting test'

Once, again, the Indians are trying to scalp the white man! Why don't they realize that they LOST the battle to resist moving into the "modern age," give up their decrepit reservations, and join the rest of us?

GC's comment is "abusive" and "offensive" and should not have been allowed to be printed. These indians are proceeding in a court of law to redress wrongs stemming from govenment sponsored bigoted dishonesty and slouth. GC's commens suggest that indians are not entitled to basic rights such as redress from the law through the "modern" courts. It is the kind of comment one would expect from the KKK.

I'm not going to argue whether colonization was right or wrong- but it happened!

Europeans settled here and took thier land. It happened it's a fact.

Now how about yall assimilate and join us like EVERY other race and ethnicity has in every other conquered conutry.

Reservations are a joke attempt at saying " we're sorry we invaded and took everything." Either give it all back or take it all away and insist in assimilization!

The Native Americans were not Conquered, they negotiated a cease fire or "treaty." Sadly the federal government has not done a good job of honoring its cease fire agreements with the various Native American groups in America.

I do not think anyone could have imangened the horrific damage the reservation system of socialism would create.

If the Native American leaders that agreed to the cease fire agreements could see the effects of the reservation system today they would have most likely have choosen to fight to the death instead.

The lawsuite in question is a valid one that needs to be addressed as do many other problems that face Native Americans today.

If the reservation system continues as is there will be very few Native Americans is 4 or 5 generations due to the destructive life styles that the reservation system has produced for many that choose to still live on reservations.

I for one choose to live off the reservation and I do not participate in any goverment assistantce programs. I work a full time job as does my wife and we pay taxes like everyone else.

No one escapes the IRS not even N.A.

I agree with "Offended." General's Custer's remarks are not worthy of publication. I have a suggestion for G.C.: Look at your family history. Perhaps you would be happier returning to your homeland.

The Native Americans were often deceived when the treaties were offered. In many instances, the U. S. government has not honored the treaties. Hence, the lawsuit.

I invite anyone without a charitable heart to spend some time on a reservation, at least a month. Then offer the rest of us intelligent comment.

Yet another example of the utter failure of a large, inefficient governmental bureaucracy. In this case, it amounted to nothing more than a job of accounting! And it persisted for OVER 100 YEARS!!!

So, what do we hear from our Democrat candidates for President? “How’s bout we let the federal government take over the medical/healthcare industry!”

I sure wish people would take a better look at the job the government has done with everything else it has been assigned. Rather than expanding and adding power to a manifestly bad and/or broken system, why don’t we consider stripping it down to those services and functions for which it was originally intended and is still best at? National defense, legislation and enforcement of laws, etc.

I pity the poor native Americans their tragic reliance on the Federal government. If everyone else can't learn a lesson from this ridiculous debacle, I hate to think of the horrendous scenerio that WILL do the trick.
