$1.5 miliion task force | 6:11 a.m. Jan. 31, 2008
I've read this bill and it is not a healthcare reform bill. Creating a new task force to develop a strategic plan, hiring consultants, and paying insurance companies for data on how much they are paying for different procedures is not a plan. The Emporer has no clothes. If this bill has any purpose it is to give legislators a way to opt Utah out of a federal plan when we have a new President next year by saying "You need to exempt states with a plan from what you are doing." That'll protect Utah's insurance companies, not make healthcare affordable for Utahns.

Progress towards reform. | 10:44 a.m. Feb. 5, 2008
While this isn't a legislative solution for healthcare reform...it is a stated intent to try and do something. I believe legislators and the Governor involved truly want good reform, however, no one can agree on what that should look like...the matter is complex and should be allowed to develop over time. I'm glad the legislature is trying to open up this dialog and I don't believe there are nefarious forces at work behind the scenes to preserve a problematic system.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
