I won't sit this election out if McgetmyCain wins. I will vote for whoever
the democrat is. This country will go straight to .... and I want them to get
the blame for it like others have said. And who knows, maybe Obama could be a
McCain only just the opposite and we'll (the conservatives) will all be
happy.

If you people think that McCain is a liberal, you've been living in Utah
for too long.
I also like how people complain that this article is "biased", especially since the Deseret News has become Romney's personal version of Tiger Beat (I keep waiting for a front-page story about how dreamy he is.) Once you leave Planet Utah and find out how the rest of America thinks, you'll see that Romney's pretty much done.

pointing out that mccain is not a conservative is not bashing it is
"straight talk". liking or not liking bush has nothing to do with why
reagan conservatives will never support a moderate republican. instead it has
everything to do with the fact that senator mccain is simply not the
conservative republican he and his supporters claim. bush has nothing to do with
it

The DN is hillarious, they not only censor their readers but they censor
themselves and recind entire news articles. How lucky we are here in Utah to
have a state wide newspaper to shelder us from the real world we live in. Thank

Pardon me, but I am not a republican. So I am unaware of the prophets of
republicanism. I am totally ignorant of the "core values" of being a
republican. But a lot of people who write here write things that they just know
are true about what a true republican is, what a conservative you must be to be
a republican, etc.
Is there some kind of a doctrine of issues or something that makes one a republican, and therefore you have to believe or else? Do republicans swear on some kind of book of deeds or something? A long time ago there was this republican, Ike, and I don't know for sure, but I don't think we have photos of him pledging his allegiance to a socalled republican manual. In fact, what little I know about history makes me think that many people who write in this... forum would call him a socialist, communist, pinko, liberal do-gooder.
But Ike was a very good President, no? But today this forum would slice and dice and pickle him for... being a moderate? I am glad Ike is not around today to see this... hatred of anything different. That's what it is.

McCain is an onery old man that didn't do anything good in Washington. I
don't care who is elected President as long as it's not McCain or
Hillary. Both have had their shots in respectable positions in government and
both have failed... miserably. Remember HillaryCare? Remember that border
wall? Let's all talk national security and even form Homeland Security
taking money out of our pockets while terrorists can do cartwheels across our
borders. Our government is being run by some of the dullest people I have ever
seen. We the people need to put some innovation in office, that's why I
like Romney... He's the only person who has tried something different in
Massachusetts. That's why my second choice is Obama, someone fresh and
very eloquent. He would be well respected with the world and his youth in
public service would keep him from the "right" way that these
politicians in office apply. The true definition of an idiot is someone who
tries something, and fails, and continues to try to do the same thing to fix it.
Let's have some change.

I will support the republican nominee. I cannot support any candidate that
espouses abortion. If you are truly LDS, you will also. you may say
"well, I don't condone it even tho I vote for
someone that does,so there to!" you cannot have it both way's....if you vote to support the nomenee, thats condoning it....plain and simple! wise up!

Huckabee knows full well that he's not going to be President. He's
known it for about 2 weeks. He's done nothing significant since winning
Iowa. And now he's only staying in the race so he can make sure that his
evangelical followers don't vote for Mitt. Huckabee can't stand the
LDS church or our doctrine; thinks we're all a bunch of loons, isn't
that obvious? Him staying in till Super Tuesday isn't illegal but since
EVERYONE knows he's not going to win it does smack of selfishness, ie,
"I don't like you and since I can't win I'll make sure you
don't either". Very petty. Mark my words, Huckabee will pull out
quite soon after Super Tuesday next week AND (my next prediction) he'll be
offered to either run on McCain's ticket (probably won't be Gulianai
cause McCain already has the needed "moderate" stigma but he needs
some "conservative flair" on his ticket and McCain obviously HATES
Romney) or Huckabee will be offered a Cabinet position.
I Saw It Coming | 12:24 a.m. Jan. 31, 2008
McCain's Saturday attack on Romney WAS "dirty politics" because
McCain knowingly COMPLETELY misconstrued/misrepresented what Romney meant about
his timetables comment. Romney advocated timelines, ie, "goals" known
only between the Bush administration and the Iraqi government to eventually get
us out of Iraq. EVERYBODY knows you can't lead any organization or venture
successfully w/o goals. Immediately when Romney made that statement he was
asked if that meant, were he to be elected President, that he would veto any
bill that contained a "get out of Iraq date", he said YES! How do the
2 parts of his statement jive? Romney meant "Let's set some goals and
if we achieve them, we leave. If we don't achieve them, we adjust our
goals and STAY UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE!" McCain knows that's EXACTLY
what Romney meant but he won't say it. I feared Romney would lose Florida
when on Saturday he politely said McCain's attacks weren't true and
asked McCain for an apology. Then on Sunday Romney tried to take the high road
by saying that Saturday's spat was "old news". Romney needed to
attack McCain's lie head on (but not attack McCain's character) and he
didn't. Anyone still respect McCain's character?

You know, hindsight being 20-20, I think we Romney supporters should have been
blogging on on-line newspapers in Florida, etc and not here on the Deseret News.
Despite the hatred of the Utah anti-Mormons, Romney will still win Utah. We
should have focused on FL, etc and now we should focus on the Super Tuesday
states where Mitt's lead is precarious or where he trails McCain by a small
amount. That's my plan.....

it seems like a lot of people are forgetting what the exit polls have said where
tbe people who have a negative view of the Bush Administration are voting McCain
but the people who are happy with it are voting for Romney. Romney is just a
liar and a jerk who will do anything for a vote. If you do not want the United
states to become a Third world country, do not vote for Romney

On the debates the other night Mccain and
Romney called each other a liberal and you know what they were both right. The only true conservative still running is Ron Paul as a ten term term congressman from Texas. He has been a staunch patriot for following the constitution. He has never voted for a tax increase. He believes in a smaller government and that my friend is a true Conservative. He wants to stop the looting of the social security fund and he oppose all the so called free trade agreements that lets other countrys dump food and products on us. Also he wants to bring the troops home, now. No more no bid contracts for Halliburton. I will vote for Ron Paul if I have to write his name on the ballot. I will never again vote for the lessor of two evils. Because do you know what you still get? EVIL. He has took 2nd in 2 states Nevada and Louisiana with virtualy no positive media coverage. Check out his voting record,and you'll find out he says what he means and he means what he says.

If you guys are going to attack McCain for his statement on the weekend then you
have to accept the fact that Mitt misrepresented his opponents too.
Remember the add where he said Sen McCain is an honorable man and then went on to attack him with dishonest claims such as amnesty and social security for illegals. Which some of you guys still think it is because you don't check your facts. How about the add that said Huckabee is a good person and then they misquote Condeleza Rice's statement saying that Huckabee's foreign policy was ludicrous. No wonder why his opponents don't like him.
How about him saying he doesn't have lobbyists in is campaign then getting mad and caught in a lie when a reporter called him on it. Some of you people have short memories or just blindly ignore anything negative about your man.
His reaction to McCain's statement and the way he lost his cool when the reporter confronted him on the lobbyist thing just shows me he isn't ready to run the country.
Mitt tough on Immigration? Wasn't he the one who got caught twice with illegals mowing his lawn.

Romney in a rare moment of brutal honesty declared to the world the truth as he
sees it. I too believe God has not spoken to man since Moses. This includes
politicans such as Joseph Smith who knew how gullible most people can be when it
comes to such matters.
But as a social or political group Mormons seem content in what they do and that is just fine with me. As long as they don't frighten my horses.

27 years voteing republican. If McCain is our candidate I will vote for a
democrat. The sad thing is im not shure that McCain is winning the primaries so
the american public will do this and aceppt it. War hero (great) make him a
general not our president.
