Your letter has inspired me enough to suggest a new State Motto.

How about:

"Utah.. Cruel and Unusual Punisnment, Elevated !!!"

Yup, they're pretty ugly. Can one still get the old kind? I like the very old ones that are black and white and just say "UTAH."

I don't live in Idaho | 7:47 a.m. Jan. 28, 2008
You mean the ones that make every car look like it is from Idaho. Awful indeed

Neither do I | 7:58 a.m. Jan. 28, 2008
Idon'tliveinIdaho, I'm so glad someone said that. Every time I see one of those plates, I think it's someone from Idaho. Why did we pick a design that is not only ugly, but looks too similar to a neighboring state's plates? Sheesh.

Hey "life is now elevated" if you have the new plate and precription drugs to help out. Welcome to Utah the greatest state in Utah. Pity not only the inmates but pity the state employees who also have a newsletter called "work elevated" does this not sound like mental control over people. Lets get ELEVATED!

The new plates are awful, but I especially empathize with Mr. Shorten's contempt for the "Tree of Utah". I'm a modern art lover, but that thing is just terrible.

Just in case any of you have minds like me, I'll save you some trouble: a Warn winch on a Jeep CJ-7 does NOT have enough torque to pull that cement tree down. The thing is bigger and sturdier than it might appear from a distance.

Have choices | 10:59 a.m. Jan. 28, 2008
You still get the Delicate Arch version. I had to make a choice when I bought my new car, then exchanged it at DMVfor the Collegiate Plate. There are several other choices. I agree the new ones are kind of ugly.

How long did you stew over this one before sending in your letter?

Dude, get a life... elevated!

I agree - the new ones are not too hot. But then I'm sure the state couldn't resist the potential to charge a new fee for something. Just wait - I'm sure if people want the old Ski Utah or Delicate Arch versions, they'll be making us pay a pretty penny. So as long as I'm paying something, I'll stick with the U alumni version! Go Utes!
