Film review: 'Tears of King' shows spiritual side of Elvis
8 comments | Read story
Matt Lewis, who plays Elvis, does a remarkable job of pulling you in and having sympathy for such an honorable, but tragic man.
All in all, a wonderful film and it has restored my faith in films made by LDS people. Only this and "The Best Two Years" have truly pulled me into a story. I commend the filmmakers for producing quality entertainment.
Pls adv if anyone is aware of its release date and when would it be available on DVD?
Thks

What do I mean by that?
Well, for one, Elvis gets interviewed in heaven by Ed Sullivan then slides over to heaven's stage to sing Howie Day's "Collide."
It's is cool though, again, assuming you can give a movie that license.
The darkened sets are reminiscent of a stage play, and the movie has that feel about it.
The lead actor is remarkable and sings all the Elvis songs himself. I'd very much like to see him act in a movie as a character other than Elvis.
This movie may have shots of the Book of Mormon in it, but it is clearly an attempt at a crossover movie and not targeted solely at the LDS market.
In terms of LDS Films, this is an original idea and much quirkier than stereotypical LDS Films: one I hope LDS film makers build on in future films.
