Huckabee is definitely not a viable candidate. He is a conniving manipulator who is using his preacher/baptist credentials to paint a subtle anti-mormon target on Romney. He appears to be splitting enough of the Christian vote from Romney to allow McCain to win in several states.

Sensible Republicans reject both McCain and Huckabee. However, McCain gets a boost from independents and Democrats allowed to vote for Republican primary candidates in some states.

I think Romney will come in third in South Carolina, but the mere fact that he is not competing there for first makes a victory by McCain or Huckabee less legitimate.

Furthermore, Mitt picking up the majority of delegates in Nevada will be a significant boost in viability that the other candidates are sacrificing--perhaps because they know they have no chance in Nevada. (Cue Ron Paul, who does therefore have a small shot at second place.)

No matter what, Mitt wins today.

Frankly, I am a Thompson fan. That said, South Carolina means nothing to Romney and he never had any chance there. He should have saved his money and skipped the state. His pursuing votes there shows poor judgment and no appreciation for his contributor's money. The real test is Super Tuesday.
