Now if the RSL organization will work as hard as they are on this stadium, into putting a competitive team on the pitch, this will be some great entertainment for Utah residents for years to come.

Good article | 7:45 a.m. Jan. 18, 2008
One of the first articles on RSL that just report the news, with no negativity. Excellent article, very informative.

Kudos to writer Rebecca Palmer for writing an article that is positive! A new stadium, even with the tumultuous birth, is a very exciting development in our state. I am looking forward to the opening game. Go RSL.
It is only a matter of time before the soccer haters begin posting comments. Bring it on losers!

I'd sure love to see Nu Skin buy the naming rights for the stadium. The Nu Skin Center would be a great name!! Come on Nu Skin. Get 100 times more name recognition than on the back of the Jazz Dancers.

Am I reading the Des News? | 8:29 a.m. Jan. 18, 2008
Wow, the des news actually ran an article that was completely objective about the RSL Soccer Stadium. This is a FIRST! I for one am very excited for the new stadium and can't wait for it's completion. I love going to the games, but Rice-Eccles is not a good soccer venue i.e. when the players run along the west sideline I can't see them. The game will be much more enjoyable in a soccer specific stadium. Go Real!

Refreshing Article | 8:48 a.m. Jan. 18, 2008
Negativity hasn't worked in stopping the stadium, no sense continuing. The stadium will be built may as well make the most of it!

The biggest challenge now - put together a winning team worthy of such a stadium and the loyal fan support.

Amazing and refreshing to see in print the explanation of how the $10M bond would be funded. Perhaps the reality of the stadium has tempered the prior semi-factual media coverage that accompanied the fight in getting it approved initially.

How stunning, indeed refreshing, to read an article based on news and fact and not personal attacks on the prinicpals of RSL. It seems to me that this organization is moving forward quite successfully, despite the past. Kudos to them - good luck - and thanks d news for giving us a new perspective.

Will county leaders indeed be sad if this works to everyone's benefit?

If you want to see photos of the stadium, or a live webcam, you can go to rslstadium.com
check it out. They are usually pretty good about adding new photos weekly.

All I can hope for is that this thing makes back the money that was spent on it.

The photoslide on the side was pretty cool too. Those seats look nice...it should be an amazing place to play soccer.

Now let's get the team up to the same level of quality. First DRAFT JAMES! Then hopefully Cordoba, Joy, Olave, and the other imports work out.

GO RSL!

I can't wait for RSL to get the stadium open! Not because I like soccer. It's the most boring sport I could imagine. But it will be nice to finally get those ugly soccer lines off the turf at Rice Eccles staduim!

Society used to put its greatest efforts and money into building cathedrals and impressive civic buildings. Even the sports arenas were named things like "Veterans Memorial Stadium." Now, we put our greatest efforts into sports venues that aren't needed. Here in AZ, we've added the Cardinals stadium (they still have yet to have a winning season) and the Coyotes arena, when we have a nearly new arena where the Suns play. All at taxpayer expense.

Entertainment and avoiding real issues reign as the kings of our collective lives!!!

It is great to see SLC getting set up for pro soccer.

Soccer will be the sport of choice in our children's lifetime. More kids these days have played soccer than any other team sport. When they grow up it will not be football, basketball, or baseball, but it will be soccer that our children want to play and watch. And hopefully, with RSL, Utah will be ready.
